  1. He’s 25 years old now and he has put up a .586 OPS in 591 plate appearances. Not a huge sample size but the equivalent of a full year in the majors. He also blows with the glove at whatever position he is thrown at, so that will further keep his WAR/value down.
  2. Correction noted. The White Sox are literally the old western trading post / whore house saloon for both LA and Boston.
  3. Imagine questioning or trying to downplay the Dodgers on anything, while being a Sox fan. 🤣
  4. The Dodgers bench players would be starters for the Sox and their front office also knew which of their garbage prospects/players they should deal to our back-to-back terrible talent-assessing GMs. But that’s probably like taking candy from a baby anyways.
  5. In this very post, you argued that my post was baseless and then listed three names off the top of your head that were called up earlier than necessary. Starting clocks during one of the historically worst seasons in baseball made zero sense.
  6. This is Getz we are talking about. Captain of the early call up.
  7. “The Athletic’s Katie Woo and Will Sammon report the Orioles have interest in a reunion with Jack Flaherty. Baltimore has an obvious need for a frontline starter after former ace Corbin Burnes bolted for Arizona last week. Flaherty, who spent the final few months of the 2023 season with the Orioles following a trade from the Cardinals, is the top starter left on the open market by a considerable margin. The 29-year-old faded down the home stretch last year with the Dodgers, but was outstanding with the Tigers at the outset of the year. He makes a ton of sense for the Orioles, who have yet to make a big splash in free agency with the exception of brining in veteran Japanese righty Tomoyuki Sugano. We’ll see if general manager Mike Elias is ready to finally make a big move.”
  8. And Getz apparently likes players like Fletcher and Vargas. Already on the road to Soxcess.
  9. All the more reason to just pick your next GM without holding any interviews. That’s how you find the best talent.
  10. Sadly, you would be mistaken, at least with Hawk. Nothing beats when Hawk left the booth to check on Todd Frazier… 🤣
  11. Exactly. And Jerry still would not have had to spend additional money if the allotment was traded.
  12. So quite literally, Jerry chose to pocket $740K rather than improve the team with more international signings? And even worse, Getz could have traded the $740K allotment to another team to spend and the Sox still could have avoided spending $740K of Jerry’s money if the allotment was traded? Wow…
  13. Haha, the “We ain’t takin’ that” was so cringy and epic due to the timing. The Sox were already terrible and Schriffen was trying to hype up a brawl with the Brewers. Awful.
  14. And I hope people note that this is just one part of revenue sharing — luxury tax distribution. It has nothing to do with other shared earnings for MLB.TV, etc. Jerry and his other fellow loser owners will never pay luxury tax but will reap the benefits from the teams that actually want to win. Jerry cashes checks left and right without even doing anything. This is another reason that a salary cap isn’t the ultimate solution.
  15. Dude was the very definition of a homer. Only Orioles prospects ever pan out 100% of the time. Meanwhile, Cease, Crochet, etc. we’re just mediocre pitchers unworthy of trading top prospects for. Over time, we all learn that prospects are great and exciting but you never know when or if they will pan out. I would venture to guess that the majority of time, the team acquiring the established player wins the trade.
  16. It does sound weird, but that is the story at least… “SOURCE: Orioles GM Unwilling to Spend Despite Green Light From Owner Orioles GM Mike Elias unwilling to spend in free agency, source says.“
  17. Even our old Orioles friends are starting to question their GM at their Orioles Hangout. I still think he lands someone eventually. I have a hard time believing that everyone but Elias knows what the Orioles need most.
  18. I wish Getz would have waited to see what Hays’ market looks like. If he ends up signing for $5 million or so, that will be disappointing. Forget the Slater/Tauchman platoon for $3.7 million. Hays as a full-time starter for a bit more money could have been a nice flip candidate with a good first half. Slater/Tauchman more than likely won’t net any return at the deadline.
  19. I still don’t get what Elias is doing. Sugano is just a cheap flier. He could be great or he could be a bust. But even signing a guy like Quintana would be a big improvement to the Orioles rotation and they could surely afford him. This tells me Elias will wind up landing some decent top half of the rotation starter eventually.
  20. It was just a joke. I like your posts. I just can’t get behind trying to level the playing field in baseball just because owners like Jerry are cheap. The Sox, A’s, Pirates, etc. can all spend more money, but they choose not to. They can’t spend like the Dodgers but they could all spend much more than they do. If we were all Dodgers fans, we would be laughing at these pathetic teams, and rightfully so.
