  1. Well, GM’s and assistant GM’s evaluate talent and decide on whom to sign and trade for. It’s pretty clear that the Sox aren’t spending much money to sign good free agent players so hopefully Rodriguez will provide a better assessment on more attainable players than Josh Barfield did (see Dominic Fletcher trade). Actually, I was hoping this guy was replacing Barfield completely and that they canned Barfield, but this doesn’t appear to be the case.
  2. I literally said he is more qualified than Getz. That’s pretty positive. I’d rather have this guy be the GM than Getz. He was with an organization in multiple roles that had a helluva lot more success than the Sox for as long as Getz has been here in multiple roles.
  3. No one is stopping you from optimism. But if you think this means the Sox are suddenly spending money on free agency, you would be sorely mistaken.
  4. Hilarious that he could possibly have more true front office experience than Getz, and for a much better team over the years. Luckily for Getz, he was in the right place at the right time.
  5. Saw this. Worth a flier. He’s only 24. Will probably be no better than Canario, but worth a shot. His K rate was better in the minors than Canario’s at around 24% but was just as bad in the majors at around 30%. Once again, no reason to pay a guy like Tauchman $3+ million or another outfielder in the Sox price range to make almost zero difference in another losing season rather than playing a young outfielder that could possibly turn into something.
  6. Agreed. We already have a guy we hope develops with the bat that we want at 2B and a glut of other infielders. Just move Sosa to 1B and be done with this pipe dream of signing Murakami. Also, O’Hearn probably won’t be worth the money he is ultimately paid.
  7. Agreed. I didn’t realize it was Gilligan and the same actress that was in Better Call Saul. I just read the synopsis and I will definitely be watching this show now.
  8. Yeah, that was never going to happen here.
  9. The guy had the best offensive year in his career and was still only worth 0.8 bWAR. Do you think his bat makes up for his very frequent botched plays?
  10. This… totally. And then everyone realizes they wasted their fingers even typing about said desired player.
  11. Yes, all that is known is that it’s a one-year deal with a mutual option for 2027.
  12. It’ll be the exact opposite of the Nintendo 64 kid…

  14. Just like the made up White Sox interest.
  15. I realize your post is mostly in jest, but this statement is not true. https://www.mlb.com/news/munetaka-murakami-market-mlb?partnerID=mlbapp-iOS_article-share Also, see @caulfield12‘s more recent article above. Meanwhile, all we have is Jim Duquette saying the White Sox could sign him because they have a low payroll and money to spend. Jim must’ve forgotten who currently owns the White Sox.
  16. I see @Chicago White Sox is hitting the Christmas eggnog early and hard.
  17. Holliday’s minor league career began in 2022. Sosa started in the minors in 2017. Many more years in the minors to improve his defense over Holliday’s.
  18. It seems like the Phillies have not been willing to bend to Getz’s demands for Robert for awhile now (2+ years?). I think that ship has truly sailed.
  19. Robert just doesn’t have much incentive to sign an extension right now, especially not a hometown discount (3/$45 million). He can just play out the string on his current contract. If he performs well for whatever team he is on by the end of the 2026 season, he will either force the issue on that team picking up his final $20 million dollar option for 2027 or he will receive a $2 million dollar buyout to become a free agent and have Boras find him a long-term deal.
  20. That’s what I was referring to. 50 PA’s in ST one way or the other shouldn’t even dictate that decision, and it seems that is what Dombrowski is indicating by his quote posted above.
  21. 50 bad/fluky plate appearances in Spring Training wouldn’t convince me to give up on my top CF prospect (#3 prospect), and then pivot to give up prospect(s) and pay a questionable performing and injury prone Luis Robert 1/$22 million or 2/$40 million.
  22. Do we know this for sure? Vince Russo thinks it was all about Triple H booking his own ending for Cena due to him trying to bolster/protect his own legacy. He made good points — Gunther already lost to Sami Zayn and Jey Uso but can’t lose to Cena in his final match? Not to mention, Cena’s motto is “never give up” and they have Cena tap out? He was literally wearing socks that said “never give up.” Why ruin a bunch of kids’ memories in a meaningless match? Strange.
