  1. Definitely. He would be the ultimate comeback player of the year / trade bait option at the deadline and a low salary for one year would make him all the more desirable. I think the Sox are done with him though.
  2. Sure, it’s his way or the highway. But he will be hurting his own attendance and Sox fans can’t wait until he is gone. Not that it matters, because he earns money regardless.
  3. I respect this answer. Thank you.
  4. Which part was I wrong about? Getz was given the GM job/promotion without even an interview. Reinsdorf said this in his press conference when he announced the firings of Hahn and Kenny and this GM change. Reinsdorf said that “he knew Getz” so he didn’t even need to interview him or any other candidate for the job. These are facts. Do you agree with this type of hiring for such an important position for your favorite team? How many other MLB teams would have hired Getz as their GM? Please provide a direct answer to these questions without another vague post like this one.
  5. You are probably right that’s he’s too good to be a secondary piece but I’m just not interested in Westburg as the headline piece in a Cease trade. i guess the question is — do you think Westburg could stick at SS and is his bat legit? I don’t want a righty 2B as the primary return. The Sox should be able to produce one of those, dammit.
  6. I would be surprised if Anderson goes that low but I guess it’s possible. I still think the Sox are done with him completely either way. Maybe if he’s over the very public baby momma drama, he can have a productive bounceback season in 2024.
  7. History and facts actually support your so-called Negative Nellies’ side of things. Only hope and opinion supports your Positive Pollies’ side.
  8. You are skipping over a huge part of the circumstances that Getz got hired within, that upset many Sox fans. The fact that Getz was in a key role before he was promoted to GM and may have contributed to the decline of the Sox, just like Hahn and Kenny. And also that Reinsdorf basically gifted Getz the promotion to GM without interviewing any other candidates, not even one. Reinsdorf even admitted in his press conference that he didn’t interview Getz for the role! So I guess fans should be more upset at Reinsdorf than Getz but the way in which Getz got the GM promotion was quite an embarrassment and I’m not surprised fans are assessing each and every one of Getz’s moves with such a keen and critical eye. But it is ironic that you said, “if anyone on this site was given the GM job” since it was essentially “given” to Getz.
  9. Used to love when Hawk would rock it.
  10. Thanks for sharing. The first half of the Ortiz section could’ve been written by Sox fans here with the second half written by Orioles fans. ? If these guys aren’t traded this offseason, they could be used as trade bait at the deadline. But what’s the rush with Edwin Arroyo? Sure, he’s blocked but he’s only 20 years old. Not really comparable to the other guys that are already around 25, since the article is celebrating the trade of an older blocked prospect in Michael Busch to the Cubs. Actually, Everson Pereira is also only 22, but he is definitely blocked and probably will be blocked going forward with the Yankees OF prospects.
  11. Why do you do this strange side-talking to other posters that you know agree with you, rather than engaging directly with the poster you are talking about (@Balta1701)? I have not seen @Balta1701 make any verbal assaults and god forbid he actually uses stats and analysis to justify his points of view rather than simply saying it’s his own opinion that everything the Sox do is great so no one can disagree with him.
  12. Sports radio makes a living discussing these Sox topics. I’m not sure why you would expect the discussion on a Sox message board to be much different. Not everyone is super positive like you considering the past 20 years of Sox history. If you can’t be honest about the negatives, then you are basically just sticking your head in the sand and ignoring things.
  13. Our fearless leader Grifol promised to clean all of that up last year. Surely he will get the job done this year.
  14. Hahn actually hit on one of his few expensive relievers. Golf claps for Rick. But keep pretending like there is no difference in signing a Machado or Harper and signing a Graveman.
  15. If the last 20 years of results from this Reinsdorf-owned team gives you any hope, more power to you. https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHW/index.shtml
  16. Yeah, he was actually good. It’s too bad the trade return for him looks so bad now. They couldn’t even trust Korey Lee to be a backup catcher apparently.
  17. And why are you just assuming that their lesser known replacements in the bullpen for 2024 will be any better? Grandal was replaced with a 37 year old catcher in Maldonado that couldn’t defend or hit last year and that the Astros chose not to bring back. They also added a catcher that didn’t even play last year in Stassi, so who knows what to expect from him. They also brought in DeJong and Lopez who were backups elsewhere because they can’t hit at all. 20% of last year’s crappy core replaced by more crap is still crap.
  18. Colson Montgomery and crew? Montgomery is probably the only prospect the Sox have that is close to being a “sure thing” major leaguer in the Sox entire farm system.
  19. The Sox had their best chance in years and managed to blow it. We also saw what Reinsdorf did to contribute to this implosion (TLR, no top free agents, terrible mid-level FA signings, same cheap dumpster diving, etc.). There has been no signs of anything changing this offseason either. Nothing will truly improve until he is gone.
  20. Many of Getz’s additions on the defensive side are of the one year variety. What happens in 2025 when those guys are gone? When Cease is gone and Getz didn’t work a better return than the Sale trade? If the collection of pitchers Getz acquired don’t all mostly pan out? Any incremental improvement next year doesn’t automatically mean it will carry over into 2025. Even if it somehow does, the team’s owner will simply refuse to spend the money required to further improve the team when and if the time actually comes.
  21. Agreed, I still think the Sox are gonna suck hard regardless.
  22. Once the Sox proved to be terrible last year, I couldn’t stomach watching many games. Was his defense that bad in RF or was it mostly his fundamentals? I remember he was supposed to have a great arm but didn’t understand the concept of throwing to the cutoff man.
  23. Sure, they’ll be better. They’ll lose 90 games instead of 101. 11 win improvement! ?
  24. I don't remember any trade offer rumors for Quintana either. I just remember KatyPerrysBootyHole getting the snub on breaking the news. Chuck only mentioned wetbutt23. https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/s/fTkpckR0H6
  25. This was also Quintana’s contract when he was traded. The Cubs kept him for all 3.5 years, from July 2017 through his second team option for the 2020 season. I remember Quintana having a ton of value due to his multiple years of cheap control. 17:$6M, 18:$8.35M, 19:$10.5M club option ($1M buyout),20:$10.5M club option ($1M buyout) The best part of the trade at the time was that two posters on Reddit broke the trade, and they both had hilarious names that were published in ESPN, SI, etc. articles. https://www.si.com/extra-mustard/2017/07/13/jose-quintana-trade-white-sox-reddit Good ol "KatyPerrysBootyHole" and "wetbutt23". ?
