Sox Sign Rafael Ortega to a MiLB Deal.
Gallo and Taylor do absolutely zero for this team. May as well play Colas or an OF if one is acquired when trading Cease.

Sox Sign Rafael Ortega to a MiLB Deal.
If Sheets gets any non-emergency starts in the outfield for the Sox in 2024, they haven’t learned a thing and Getz is as awful of a GM as Hahn.

Crochet preparing to be starter
Obviously last year was a lost season regardless and it wouldn’t have mattered in the grand scheme of things, but how would having two relievers with similarly good stats not have been better than just one, with Hendriks on the injured list? Chapman wouldn’t have been an improvement on Jimmy Lambert’s 5.26 ERA in 37.2 innings?

The stats definitely disagree with you.

Cease To Padres per Passan
He’s probably the best option statistically and cost-wise. Everything else…

Cease To Padres per Passan
What are the good options out there that aren’t also expensive? Snell and Montgomery left on the free agent side.

Cease To Padres per Passan
How many starts does Stroman make before he tweets out that Yankees fans are racist pieces of s%*#?
-
Cease To Padres per Passan
They don’t have the lefty hitter that the Sox would want but they still have the pitching. But I have no idea if the Dodgers are still interested in trading for a starter. Nick Frasso, Gavin Stone, Jackson Ferris Andy Pages

Cease To Padres per Passan
This is good news at least. You gotta love the big market teams that can sign a starter for $18.5 million a year as insurance.

Cease To Padres per Passan
So nice you had to post it twice?

Cease To Padres per Passan
I also read that Stroman posted a picture of himself in a Yankees uniform. Yankees fans don’t seem very happy.
-
Cease To Padres per Passan
You could say that with or without the Stroman news. The Sox should look to make all of the prospects they acquire PTBNLs, so they have more time in the other team’s farm system and less time in theirs.

Cease To Padres per Passan
Imagine acquiring both Ortiz and Madrigal to team with Lopez. Sox fans would be slap-happy. An infield of Vaughn, Lopez, Ortiz, and Madrigal would put up 25 homers combined, maybe 30 if they were lucky. ?

Cease To Padres per Passan
I don’t think he’s on the trade block anymore but Burnes gets almost twice as much as Cease in his final season before hitting the open market.
-
Cease To Padres per Passan
I guess we’ll see what happens. No one knows what packages have even been offered for Cease. It’s too bad we can’t see what Getz has turned down so far.

Oscar Colas, Brett Phillips, Rafael Ortega deathmatch for opening day RF.

Cease To Padres per Passan
Yes, assuming that the prospects a team gives up actually pan out to be anywhere near as good as Snell or Cease. That’s not always a given, as Sox fans have seen from the return on the Sale trade. Those two sure-thing prospects turned into busts pretty quickly.

Cease To Padres per Passan
I doubt Getz panics about anything. He was gifted with a GM job and apparently doesn’t even have to win anytime soon, judging by the roster he has put together for 2024. He cut payroll and went dumpster diving in free agency, which is good enough for Jerry.

Cease To Padres per Passan
I just did some googling. Stroman called Bob Brenly of the Diamondbacks racist for a comment about his durag. Then he said that Mets fans yelled racist comments at him and threatened his life, so he also called the Mets racist for not defending him against the fans. He also called Michael Kay, the Yankees announcer, a racist for not having more black or Hispanic co-hosts on his ESPN radio show.

Cubs get Michael Busch, Yency Almonte
Competition (fodder) for Brett Phillips for Sox defensive backup outfielder.

Cubs get Michael Busch, Yency Almonte
Slappy outfielder Steven Kwan has a higher career OPS in the majors (.740) than first baseman Andrew Vaughn (.735). But hey, maybe those college numbers will translate for Vaughn someday…

Boras using his loyal servant Heyman to get teams to up their offers for Snell.

Cease To Padres per Passan
Disaster zone. Watching every Cease start for an entire first half hoping nothing bad happens (poor performance or injury). Not for the faint of heart.

Cease To Padres per Passan
No one knows what the offers for Cease are. Maybe Getz is truly asking for a ridiculous return? We don’t know. The other possibilities are: (3) Cease pitches worse in 2024 than he did in 2023 and the trade offers for him drop even further. (4) Cease suffers a severe injury and the Sox get absolutely nothing for him. Sox completely waste the asset of two years of control of a healthy Cease.
