  1. After seeing this ridiculous Giolito signing, Getz may be wise to wait until many more starting pitchers sign. Baltimore can’t afford anyone.
  2. The best part is that this isn’t just a flier signing. Passan said Flexen was signed to fill out the rotation. Getz for the win.
  3. Because the Sox are going to Sox.
  4. Chris Getz, Sox offices are closed! Didn’t you get the memo? Please stop working and report back to your family! That’s enough awful acquisitions for one week!
  5. Imagine a future in which the White Sox finally realize that signing one good player for $10 million is better than signing multiple bums for that same amount. Quantity is not always better than quality! Meet the new GM of the White Sox, same as the previous GM, and the previous GM before him.
  6. The years go by, the GM changes, but the dumpster diving never does. We all know the one constant.
  7. Giolito just set the market for former aces trying to return to their previous glory and it’s $20 mill a year. Last I checked, Cease didn’t have a 7.07 ERA. This is just about the best news for Cease’s trade value that could have ever happened. Orioles fans may need to readjust their prospect proposals. There isn’t a decent free agent starting pitcher that they could even afford in this market.
  8. Giolito and his 7.07 ERA still helping us out. With these prices, who could the Orioles even hope to afford on the open market? ?
  9. Questionable defense so I doubt Getz will want him.
  10. Colas in RF and Mark Payton as the fourth outfielder.
  11. If the Sox don’t acquire a RF in the Cease trade, don’t be surprised to see the fluff pieces by Merkin early in Spring Training about how Colas is in the best shape of his life and working on his swing with the new coaches. Essentially selling Colas to Sox fans as their starting RF again.
  12. You pretty much described Maldonado’s bat perfectly. Now add the declining defense and it’s a perfect summary.
  13. I know it isn’t a large sum of money in today’s game but I don’t see the Sox spending that much for a one year outfielder in what will be a losing year. Getz would probably rather sign three relievers with that money as potential flip candidates at the deadline. I do agree with your second point that they are hoping the OF will come from the Cease trade.
  14. But they like to spread out smaller amounts of money on a variety of crap, not spend up to $10 million on one productive player.
  15. Nick Madrigal isn’t the answer to any question.
  16. There’s no way Getz is spending $8 to $10 million on an outfielder for this team. It will be some AAAA guy or a discarded and cheap OF from another team.
  17. The Sox brought back Mark Payton in November on a minor league deal after he spent last year in Japanese ball.
  18. Madrigal has almost zero trade value and we already have our own version of him in Little Nicky. Why would you want two of the same terrible player?
  19. I legitimately thought he was trolling with that post. Is there actually a dimension in the multiverse where his post is for real?
  20. Wow, back when posters actually had faith and hope that Jerry would approve Hahn signing a big time free agent. Cringey posts in there, considering hindsight.
  21. Yeah, it’s kind of like Jerry hiring GMs and managers. You just have to hope he kicks into picking a good front office.
  22. Nope. Fields already had ALL the weapons he needed this year in Moore, Mooney, and Kmet, along with three good RBs and a kicker who drained everything and received a 4-year, $16 million extension because of it. The OL also improved over the course of the season. Additionally, the defense improved GREATLY in the past few games and Fields still blew close games. These two Score tools have been worshipping Fields for the past two years so they don’t have enough pride and common sense to get off that train at this point. They are both blowhards. I seem to remember in the off-season that everyone was in agreement that this was supposed to finally be the season for Fields to prove himself, and he didn’t. Look at the stats. He’s basically the same guy he was last year. A slightly above average QB. The Bears need to aspire for more from the QB position.
  23. Okay, go ahead and see at how over-the-hill Maldonado and Hill did individually last year. They were a pile of suck. If you think players improve in their mid-30’s, more power to ya. @WestEddy got so clowned on his Getz opinions in the other thread that he had to revert to this Joaquin Phoenix Joker character. Enjoy, WestEddy. I’ll get my popcorn ready. https://www.soxtalk.com/forums/topic/116647-white-sox-getz-have-more-work-to-do-before-spring-training-opens/
  24. I’m not sure a team that had a directive to cut payroll is going to want to deal prospects for Cease at this point.
