QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 07:31 PM) America is over 75 percent of players. You absolutely need it they need anerica to to provide some sort of creditably to the whole thing and american money to legitimize it.
  3. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 04:53 PM) Oh I know. I'm just reiterating it. I have a bad feeling that the Sox will f*** up this pick somehow. i somewhat agree with you and then again, remember i am always have my mind looking at the other side of the coin. i wanted Rodon regardless of my opinion on his advisor / agent. i wanted fulmer but i also wanted another positional player. i can't or do not have that skill to determine the skills of the prospects. there are several elite pitchers, i would look at one, but i would and at #10, being looking at a hitter. remember the pick is 10 not 3 or 5 but #10. most of the elite pitchers may be gone. just my reasoning . also remember we are long way from draft day.
  4. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 06:36 PM) Fulmer and Anderson are good picks though regardless of what you're sold or not sold on. not really and i mean no offense. but there are a history of players who do great in the minors and can't make that transition to the majors. now i am a huge fan of both, and i will pray to the baseball gods that they develop and have a great career on the sox team.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 03:15 PM) The defense is certainly weaker but I didnt see much wrong with the players themselves. Garbutt's line was effective. Keith may have been the worst D man on the ice last night. i agree, this season the defense is going to hurt this team. outside these dman - Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Niklas Hjalmarsson there is and imo a void. as i said in other post, this is the best that they have now. now with TVR, he is coming off a very bad knee injury in nov of last yr. so he is skating to get into game shape. but daley and whomever.... that will be a problem ... now if Pokka and Svedberg will be somewhat learning and developing under the gun, which i think may be the case later. now for getting rid of bickell and daley's salary. that will help.
  6. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Oct 8, 2015 -> 05:40 AM) It is certainly one game and it doesn't matter, but this is what you get with Daley and Garbutt. this goes to patrick sharp trade and why it was really needed to be done. sharp's trade was a salary dump. plain and simple. i understand that and it is no one's fault on this trade. what the hawks got a a dman who is 30-31 yrs old with 2 yrs left on a 3.5 mil hit per, who was woefully overmatched according to the link provided. the problem is the hawks are max out on the salary cap and they can not make any players movement unless it is a trade of bickell and daley. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-puck-dad...-142208054.html

  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 05:25 PM) Tracey Myers ‏@TramyersCSN 2h2 hours ago #Blackhawks lines: 86-19-81, 72-15-88, 29-65-39, 11-16-28. So same as the last few days. i really like to see how line 2 and line 3 do in this game.
  9. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 07:09 PM) I've been to Hawks games before, the noise would have my 5 year old crying before the national anthem is over. sorry. i meant no offense. yeah 5 yrs old.... yeah i am with you. too young to enjoy it.
  10. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 07:05 PM) They CityPass included a choice between the art institute and the planetarium, so we are going to do the latter. One of the kids doesn't eat pizza so we may not do a pizza place. bold most definitely .... the pizza places have a menu to order off the menu italian food. i haven't been there is over 12 yrs... but any hot dog or polish sausage .... they have it the best.
  11. this is a 3rd must.... you got to introduce your kids to the atmosphere of the chi black hawk game.... you got to get there at least 1/2 hour early to find your seat and getting the refreshment. the open of the game is a must for anyone. the loudest in all of sports, or so i remember ...
  12. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 06:49 PM) Taking the kids to Chicago for 4 days next week. First time taking them there for anything other than a Sox game. When I lived there, my main criteria for picking restaurants was the quality of margaritas and/or beer. Probably need to adjust that for this trip. Those with kids who live in or have traveled to Chicago, what are some good restaurant suggestions? Our hotel is in Schiller Park so either in the city or the near W/NW suburbs is our target area. Also, we already have the City Passes that cover the Skydeck and all the museums. Planning on LP Zoo as well. Any other must-visit places for the kids (ages 7 & 5)? PS: Is it bad of me to want the Cubs to lose tonight so the city is less crowded next week? depending on where you live and the quality of the cuisine... pizza ... i am so much of a fan of home runn inn. but the deep dish pizza people love. lp zoo is great.... they them the history of the zoo and how old it is. the chi filed museum is the best. 1 day is not enuf..... oh btw, the art museum is great, but for children??? on canal st, if you are driving. some of the best shrimp. go in lunch time. food almost any in chi is the best,. you can't go wrong there.
  13. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 06:44 PM) What do you mean he is not an option, every player who declares themselves eligible is an option. What does being a HS'er have to do with anything? Especially when the new scouting director has said multiple times that he prefers HS'ers to college kids. I never said that he should go at 10 to the Sox, I said keep an eye on him. And you even said that there is going to be many changes over the course of the season, then why bring up any of the things you did. at this point i am taking and you knot it. i never remember Hahn saying he prefers a hs to a college player... i would like to see this if you can find it.. if not oh well we are both wrong. you did to keep an eye on his and i responded at where the sox are selecting, he is not an option. b/c all things being equal, he is, at this time not rated in the top 10 which i acknowledge and i even put in my disclaimer that who know when draft day comes around. so relax....
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) So, FS had a big year interview-wise (among other areas). We interviewed 35 players (some multiple times), 6 minor league managers and coaches, and 5 members of the White Sox front office (including Hahn, Hostetler and others). This is truly exclusive content. Some is just fun stuff, but in some cases, players even revealed some truly interesting stuff. My personal favorites were Jose Bautista's brutally honest assessment of some of the younger pitchers, and Nick Delmonico basically saying he went AWOL from Milwaukee on purpose. You can click here to see all posts under "Interviews", and scroll around to find the ones you want to read. Enjoy! again many thanks to you and all who worked hard to do this.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 05:25 PM) Tracey Myers ‏@TramyersCSN 2h2 hours ago #Blackhawks lines: 86-19-81, 72-15-88, 29-65-39, 11-16-28. So same as the last few days. i am going to like to see how they performed
  16. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 02:33 AM) Obviously Bickell deserves the blame for not preforming and living up to the deal, but Stan also deserves a fair share of the blame. You are correct in terms of the sentiment, I remember after his playoff run there was just the belief "You can't let this guy walk, he makes to big of an impact when he is on to let this guy walk away." His big body, that huge power forward role was something that was missing from the Hawks, and when Bickell was playing at a high level he was incredibly valuable. BUT, what makes a GM smarter than all of us is being able to evaluate talent and project future performances. Sometimes you hit, and sometimes you miss, and Bowman and the staff missed big time. Everyone deserves blame. The goal of the GM is also to have more hits than misses, and clearly we know where Stan & Co. stand. and i have 2 lousy idea on this... i admit it. it is just me. i say don't rest on your laurels .... get to work and what have you done for me lately. i am a harsh task manager,
  17. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 04:21 PM) I think we college player with 1st pick and high ceiling HS player if/when we get the comp pick from Samardzija. excellent thinking and i feel that is how Hahn see it as well. the hs in the 1 rd is a long deal. esp with the state of the system, who knows when the team get stronger and better. also it will become more of a move when the teams starts selection in the late teens and the 20 picks. just my 2 cents.
  18. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 02:22 PM) So we all thinking we will draft a hitter at #10? Who are the "targets"? I haven't read anything on prospects yet. there is really no right or wrong prospect at this early stages and it is still based on opinions. so any of the mock draft who has been link to will give you a working knowledge of what is out there. for me, i really like the sp puk and i really like the 3b Dalbec. there are some hs'er who may get link, but i really don't look at them... very little info coming in about them. also remember many changes from now until next draft will be change.
  19. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 01:31 PM) Why isn't he an option because he's a HSer? The prep C Stephenson last year wasn't an option until he blew up late last year, and you wanted him quite a bit because he fit a position of need. i think the option would be for now, a college player. i am talking about the sox preference to get the player closer to the big league faster. that is until when it is not needed. the past several draft just happen lucky that the player who was there in the first round happen to be a college player. again, i am talking about sox choices. your point that i wanted a hs catcher, well as someone else always put this out there. show me the link on this sox talk draft that stated as such. i really wanted another pitcher or happ. i really don't find myself going for a hs'er unless this is an exceptional talent.
  20. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 08:42 AM) Keep an eye on Drew Mendoza. 6'4 SS from LF, with a nice lefty swing. 2 things, he is a hs'er and where the sox are selecting, he is not an option. second he is listed as maybe a later 1rnd'er right now. now when the new season starts and end, there will be many changes ....
  21. QUOTE (Coach @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 11:26 AM) Dick, Your LaRoche stats fail to state an obvious point. In 2014, he struck out 21% of the time. In 2015, it was 33%. At some point during any season, a player who cannot hit simply needs to be kept out of the lineup until they can figure out how to hit, or to at least have better contact. LaRoche left so many men on base this past season, he cost the Sox runs. His QAB was so incredibly low he was pretty much an automatic out, especially with 2 strikes. A manager's job is to win games and nothing else. Putting LaRoche's needs above the team's most likely cost them runs and perhaps some wins. There's that pesky WAR factor again. If I were Ventura, I would see what happens to him in Spring Training. If it's the same, I would say eat the salary and get someone else. Shuck only struck out 11% of the time, so why not let him DH? They are both lefties. Why is this so hard for Ventura to figure out? i agree with the RV and spring training comment. but i can't see the owners eating his contract. what got me is this, using stats or just visual looks, RV should have been able to see that Adam L was not working. why keep throwing him out there. at some point, before or just after the ASG, Adam should have been bench.
  22. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 12:37 AM) My post was not about the QO or salary. My post was strictly about him moving to 3B which he has not played at all in his ML career. He's bad at SS, I'd be hesitant to play him at 3B, that's your what if. there is no what if, this is all dependent on what i stated, and it is then, the gm job to determine if he is capable. i am not saying go out and sign him and what it would like if.... i am saying he might be an option based on variable i already mention. a ss who has played ss for many yrs can and should handle the 3b job, but i am not advocating this. i am not living in a fantasy world of signing this and what it would look like if. there has to be options that needs to be address or look into.
  23. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 01:53 AM) Just wondering, do you consider Randy Johnson a once-in-a-lifetime pitcher? excellent find....
  24. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Oct 7, 2015 -> 06:42 AM) Either Trayce or Eaton gives plus pop in CF. I think the other gives you decent pop from either corner. Tolerable due to their other plus contributions. Melky slides to mostly DH but subs in regularly to give breaks. Melky probably plays for Trayce with a tough righty on the mound so Laroche can DH if we're still stuck with him. But I'm conpletely in the camp of packaging Avi in a bigger trade. I don't think he'll ever see the baseball out of the pitcher's hand and understand the zone against high velocity. Gotta upgrade Avi. What players are on the list of young bad ass defense and 25-30 HRs? Quintana & Davidson for Harper? excellent... i like it and the idea. next, avi had his first season without any major injury. he put up a season of decent numbers. he is still young, how old is he?? i would like to see another yr and come to some sort of a determination on him, esp if he improved n his offense. i can see him, with his defense, being moved to the dh role.
  25. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 10:59 PM) Why do you think so? You're always one that doesn't like " what ifs". Desmond hasn't played an inning at 3B in his ML career. you are correct, i didn't make a what if. my first point is QO which i stated next was salary request which i stated. next i say i would put him in 3b. of course it will depend if he is an option, can he play 3b. considering he was a ss his career, moving over to 3b would be an option. nice try.
