  1. QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 03:37 AM) Ah, so it wasn't actually a program? You were just copying and pasting? I wanted to do a similar thing this year and liked how you did it last year. if you don't mind me giving some advice. but some of the admin wanted the link in the bottom. i really don't know why, but i did as they wanted. it was not a problem for me. do you want the link for the ncaa score web???? second, it was a bite on keep following the draft eligible players. i wanted to keep highlighted the first rounders .... again i mean no offense.
  2. QUOTE (Dizzy Sox @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 04:17 AM) Despite the 'improvement' over last year, this was a much more frustrating season that last year IMHO. I had no expectations for the Sox in '14, and they merely lived up (down?) to those expectations. At least seeing Abreu become one of the best hitters in the game took the sting off of their record. This year, I came into the season with hope...hope which the Sox systematically found creative and unique ways to club out of me. The losing streak to open the season, the no replay challenge game in Detroit, Shark proving to be nothing but chum, unbelievable apathy and lethargy the first half of the year, an almost laughable lack of fundamentals and of course the moribund leadership style we've all come to love so much throughout the RV years. Etc, etc, etc. Worst of all, however, is the knowledge that it will be years if ever before any accountability is dealt out to the Sox leadership team. There is zero evidence to indicate JR has any desire to cut bait with what is an obviously failed model. Hahn is still new enough to his role to have the benefit of the doubt in my mind, but the same most emphatically can not be said for KW, Robin, and Buddy Bell. Could it be any clearer that those three have been under-performing for years in their respective roles? The Sox have one of the best hitters and one of the best pitchers in the game, with both locked into extremely team-friendly contracts, and still...no playoffs. No post season. No pennant chase or even race for a wildcard slot. Hell, no .500. record even. Here we are at the end of another abortion of a season with little reason to expect next year will be much better than this one. /sigh wow, a very insightful analysis. excellent. !!!!
  3. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 11:41 PM) Bickell Toews Hossa -If they're going to maximize Bickell and leave him no excuses, put him with the best player in hockey and one of the best defensive forwards in hockey Kane Anisimov Panarin -Makes too much sense Dano Teuvo Tikhonov -Tikhonov was the leading scorer at the Worlds in 2014. He has to have a spot in this lineup. I also believe Teuvo's most valuable at center Desjardins Kruger Shaw -This would be the best 4th line in hockey what i am going to say is really weird but the GM has really assembled a real nice group of players. now my crazy opinion. this uncertainty of the players, the success of the lines, is really exciting. all the unanswered questions will be answered when the season start. then watching them gel and get to the mid seasons. now and i am not going to say anything bad, but the loosing of all that stats this offseason. that too will be exciting, b/c the expectations will be huge. can't freaking wait for the beginning of the season.
  4. QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 11:58 PM) Were you the one that had that tracking website for stats last season? yeah, i really enjoy the minor league stats and players as well college players and draft stats. yeah that was the ncaa main web sites and scores.
  5. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 6, 2015 -> 12:11 AM) Maybe we'll see. Depends a lot on how season ticket sales go and I wouldn't think that's going to go over well. Mark esp after this past season rounding success.
  6. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 10:48 PM) Just playing some devils advocate here. http://www.fueledbysports.com/2016-mlb-mock-draft/ Obviously this should be taken with a grain of salt but there's nothing wrong with getting familiar with some names now. nice, i can see Corey Ray - of. Bobby Dalbec - 3b/of/1b Chris Okey - cat of course the other pitchers like A.J. Puk Alec Hansen the surprise is Boldt who is not having a nice cape cod time. that is if i am reading this right over the weekend. now i am really torn on the positional players of ray, dalbec and okey. however i am still leery on okey. he will need to put up some decent numbers again. thanks for the link.
  7. [quote name='Jose Abreu' date='Oct 5, 2015 -> for me, Dano/Toews/Hossa Panarin/Toews/Hossa Panarin/Anisimov/Kane Tevo/AA/Kane Teravainen/Kruger/Shaw Shaw/Tik/Bickell or Baun Tikhonov/Desjardins/Garbutt Desi/Garbutt/Kuger the biggest question for me is, when will Dano be brought up. depending on how the season starts, i can see Dano going to #3 line and Baun going to the minors and or Bickell going down. however i wonder if bickell will wake up and play like he is suppose to. now i can see Dano going to line 2 and AA going to #3. that will make #2 line a very dangerous scoring line.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 10:25 PM) I would be secretly excited about Alex Gordon, somehow ridding ourselves of Melky and rolling with Gordon/Trayce/Eaton in the outfield. I also recognize it would not be a good idea. But I have outfield seats and that would be fun to watch. he is one person i have been thinking about.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 09:43 PM) Raffi Torres suspended 41 games for this one. he left his feet on that check,

"One of the funniest movies I've ever seen" my sister came home and he is not a matt damon fan, but she loved it. she is going with her fiends to see it on weds. has anyone seen the Big Stone Gap trailers??? it actually look very funny

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 09:52 PM) Yeah, I don't think this will work unless there is massive investment in security measures. Even then, it's probably a long shot. you have a great point. i am incline to think of kidnapping of americans like the kidnapping of the late 80's and 90's... i just don't trust the idea. again i am ashame that i am thinking like this.
  12. i mean this as no argument who would you put as your #1, 2, 3 and 4 line. no dman.
  13. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 09:19 PM) ok stir the pot will you. funny
  14. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 09:07 PM) Didn't you just post that video? THAT'S why he isn't. Kane and AA are PERFECT for him. and i thought it would be nice to form a solid #1 line . the line 2 will be good with TT, AA and kane.
  15. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 09:11 PM) The Bulls and sox are TWO SEPERATE COMPANIES. they may share a chairman and various board members, but they are not merged companies. When I first got season tickets, I had asked my rep if he sells bulls tix in the summer, and he flat out told me that he wasn't a bulls employee. there is something to be said about someone hehashing and old argument and get the same thing wrong. i am done. you are worthless.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 09:05 PM) My pie in the sky plan: -Make qualifying offer to Shark (he rejects). -Exercise Alexei Ramirez's option -Resign Albers to 1/$2.5M deal. -Get whatever you can for Flowers Free Agents & Acquistions -Sign Jayson Heyward to 6/$150M deal -Sign Ben Zobrist to 2/$30M deal (may require 3/$40 to get it done) -Sign Fister, Latos or Kennedy to 1 year incentive laden deal -Sign John Jaso (C/1B/DH) -Trade John Danks and Adam LaRoche (+5M) for Melvin Upton Jr and Austin Hedges -Trade Avi Garcia and Micah Johnson for a C. I'd like to see Lucroy, but realize that may require another piece - maybe Michalczewski or Danish in addition to those guys. I'd lean towards moving Trey due to the addition of McMahon (see below). 1. Eaton, CF 2. Zobrist, 3B 3. Abreu, 1B 4. Heyward, RF 5. Cabrera, LF 6. Lucroy, C (DHs against LHP; Hedges catches) 7. Jaso, DH (sits versus LHP) 8. Ramirez, SS 9. Sanchez, 2B UTIL: Saladino OF: Thompson OF: Melvin Upton Jr. BC: Hedges (catches 3 times a week; Lucroy shifts to DH or 1B) #1: Sale #2: Quintana #3: Rodon #4: Johnson #5: Fister / Latos / Kennedy (Fulmer mid-season call-up if necessary) CL: Robertson SU: Jones SU: Duke MR: Putnam MR: Jennings MR: Petricka MR: Albers Other moves: Frankie Montas traded for a prospect of more need to the White Sox. 3B Ryan McMahon in the Rockies organization makes a ton of sense - blocked by Arenado, can step in for Zobrist after his 2 year expires at 3B, or Zobrist can move to 2B or OF (where ever needed) if McMahon pushes Zobrist off 3B before his contract expires. ref the bold, that is a surprise... i never thought of. i like it.
  17. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 09:08 PM) The chairman has to answer to the board. how do you fail to understand this? ahaha oh brother, if i have to explain to this your are lost. psst i said the owners..... does that ring a bell.
  18. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 09:05 PM) I have come to the same conclusion. another classy (lack) of a post i can expect from a bottom dweller.
  19. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 09:04 PM) Just to correct a point, he didn't throw the bat down. After missing a pitch from Cliff Lee he tried swinging the bat into his other cupped hand out of frustration (he was supposed to catch it or cup it in that hand). He missed and the bat struck bone towards the bottom of the hand / wrist breaking it. One of the dumber things a baseball player ever did to himself. Mark ahh dumb things players have done to themselves. who was the player who hit the wall with his fist after striking out... broke his hand.
  20. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 08:32 PM) Nice research by Douglas, but I think we should also get some home run hitters so Veeck's exploding scoreboard doesn't rust
  21. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 04:06 PM) You always overpay in free agency, no matter who it is. i know... the agent will play team offers against other teams.
  22. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 08:31 PM) OK, my offseason plan: Give Samardzija the QO. If he refuses it and also won't take a 4-year deal from the Sox, then the starting pitching is probably going to have to come from in-house. The only FA pitchers that excite me are Happ and Zimmerman but they are going to get far more from some other team than I would want the Sox to offer them. If for some reason Samardzija does take the QO or re-sign, then eat as much of Danks' salary as necessary to move him. Pencil in Johnson for the 5th spot with possible competition from Adams or Montas. Sign at least one of AJP or Soto for catcher. If you can get both signed before the tender deadline then non-tender Flowers. Go really hard after Ben Zobrist or Howie Kendrick and pick up Alexei's option. As much as I like both Sanchez and Saladino defensively, you just can't have both their bats in the lineup, and Anderson is probably a year away. More playing time for Thompson in the OF. Make LaRoche and Garcia a DH platoon, with Garcia getting some OF time in addition if he improves at the plate. you are the first person i saw who mention this. this is a huge win win situation. plays 2b, 3b 1b and yes dh. now the 3b is not that many, but for a person who can handle 2b and 1b.... i just figure 3b would be ok.
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 5, 2015 -> 08:54 PM) I see no reason (aside from trading for hitting) that we don't just roll with Sale Q Rodon Danks Erik Johnson i totally agree. that starting 3 are going to put up some numbers when the rest of the team is figured out. i still would invest in a sp who has not QO and is in the last leg of his career. i still like to have 1 extra sp just in case....
  24. QUOTE (oldsox @ Oct 3, 2015 -> 12:41 PM) Old guys need names. Back in Veeck's day there might have been only 16 teams, rosters didn't turn over as much, and there were no baseball TV packages, MLB Networks, etc. Just because the snobby Yankees don't use names, doesn't mean the rest of the free world should follow suit. i just saw this.... i got some words for you young whipper snapper...... i just can't remember right now what those words are.
  25. i am going to keep mine simple.... you all have great post. i truly like the feeling and of Jose A getting into the swing of the empty stadium game in the beginning of the season. esp when he tossed the ball in the stands. btw, what is Jose A walk up song???
