  1. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 04:01 AM) Players I would want in order: Puig, Upton, CarGo. Throwing a random question out there, if you go after Upton, why not try and get Ross in the package? I think I would give up some big prospects for that. And then a rotation of Sale, Samardzija, Quintana, Ross, and Rodon the rest of the way would be insane with Danks being pushed into long relief. i agree on ross pickup.
  2. QUOTE (staxx @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 03:27 AM) Now that everyone thinks we wont trade Shark, watch us go out and trade him. Figures. not i.... i have my own reasons... but oh well.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 03:31 AM) Yes, every post you have made has been very clear. Fans aren't going to games today because we didn't go to the enough playoffs in the 1960's. i am not and i mean not taking sides in this. imo. the real reason the sox does not have a fan base is b/c of no foresight. getting on wgn staying o wgn and great advertising.... fast forward to the 80's the new sox onwership went on a sports vision channel which was owned by eddie eihorn, sox owners. next is the screw up and major bluff on moving and getting stuck still where they are still. while the cubs is expanding their fan based. bottom line..... sox lack of fans, poor decision making in or at major times when it could have matter. it is a continuous lack of no common sense.
  4. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 03:14 AM) f*** his ego, sit him until we stop scoring like this i agree.
  5. i am not trying to be mr downer. but the sox needs to get a winning record from now until end of season. esp in the al central. can anyone think they can win in the central??? either way. the sox needs players..... so whom???
  6. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 11:52 PM) ball 1 to bogaerts was strike 3 to eaton dang it, so much for the no - hitter.
  7. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 11:40 PM) I'm at peace with the Sox standing Pat since the rotation is playoff worthy and some bats have come alive. For right now, what might be the best moves the Sox could make are... 1- DFA Boni and recall Micah 2- bat Micah at DH and use LaRoche for pinch hitting/ defensive sub at 1B. 3- play Shuck more in a platoon with Avi. Shuck improves defense and production against RHP. 4- option Leury back to Charlotte and recall Erik Johnson 5- Danks goes to the pen and Erik becomes the 5th starter These move cost the Sox zero money and prospects while improving their contending status, on paper anyway. you know, it is much better than what the sox have now. its like assembling a go-go kind of a sox team. i still the sox needs another sp.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 06:55 PM) In baseball, even if we missed the trade, I'd root for the wins. We have young players and can win games and that is better off then any value in difference of picks that could be so far from helping the club. In other sports, I buy the tank / stink argument, in baseball, I absolutely do not. it does matter to tank and sink, but if the sox miss the playoff and yet make no trades, then the system is ok. but if the sox made trades to make a run, what will be left for the club to build on???
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 10:17 PM) Agree with all, however maybe flip us with Cleveland in what I bolded as of right now, it may be right, however if the sox do trade for the missing pieces to make a run at the playoff, then i can see them drop.

    2015 Films thread

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 09:20 PM) Holy crap this list of terrible Adam Sandler movies just keeps going: http://io9.com/adam-sandler-has-a-hell-of-...-for-1720665896 Sad because I grew up on and loved Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Water Boy, etc. I bet those movie are damn near unwatchable now, much like anything Jim Carrey. the same kind of formula does gets old. too bad. he is not as bad as his personality suggest.
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 04:51 PM) Because they have to draw the line somewhere with a deadline in just over 76 hours from now. The Sox are teetering on the edge of contending with a viable shot, and not. They'll have a lot more information in 60 hours. on the edge of teetering..... i like your enthusiasm, but they have yet to beat the team in their own division with consistency. this can be a really deceiving chain of events that can happen. hope!!! i not for that.
  12. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 04:04 PM) I want to do one too...for Seager. now that it appears the team is going to go in another direction. i can see the sox overpaying for what they need. so getting seager, while it is a great idea, he is a prospect and not really a player the sox needs now. now is the kw, over paying rein will now start again.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 03:12 PM) Phil Rogers is an idiot. Literally I couldn't tell you the last thing he got right. i am with you there.....
  14. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 03:10 PM) This really tempers my excitement about dealing with the Jays. Reid-Foley and Pentecost are still there, but would the Jays really unload that many good prospects in the same week? The smaller their supply, the less likely they would be to agree to overpay, which is what it may take to pry Shark on a surging Sox club. unless Sanchez is used instead.
  15. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 03:06 PM) I 100% believe that Hahn was pushed into accelerating into being competitive this season by JR/Kenny. The moves, I still think are Hahn. But the strategy was not. but where is the accountability factor??
  16. Nothing mind-boggling about it. As GM, Kenny Williams has a long history of poor value trades, poor evaluation of even veteran players, and a decade of poor drafts. But most of all, there was never a consistent plan. Overapy for a vet - then give him away.No consistency. and poor drafting. And it was when the flows from the 1988-2000 drafts expired, he had no more prospects to trade for veterans, and the losing records began to accumulate. so all the prospects have accumulated in the last several yrs, are now assets to play with, just like the children building blocks. 2014....back to the philosophies of Williams. some of the offseason really looked like it was not kw modus operandi, it was, if i had to guess. sometime around jan that things chg. this is my opinion.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) I don't think people give Hahn a pass, but we had 13 years of watching Kenny operate largely independently, and 3 years now of Hahn...where we don't really know. So when we look at the moves, there are moves that feel like KW moves. And the worst flaw of KW was shortsightedness...and losing out on a potential dynamite arm (but we don't know) of Hoffman for 6 years in exchange for going for it when still under 500 at the end of July just seems like KW. the most excellent point of describing this love - hate interesting KW. plus it is like a mystery. so... who made what move in the sox trades. their is the mystery and then try to figure out what is the f*** is the reasoning. hoffman trade is puzzling unless you think the offense that tor hopes from the ss is worth the talent being traded. top must be really desperate to make the post season.
  18. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 06:43 AM) If it's for Trout, yes it is. If it's for his usual gaggle of declining veterans and fallen heroes.....not so much. i just realize this, if it is kw in charge and i am sure the info is correct. no trade goes down for selling. but a trade will happen to pick up a hitter. dang. i am slow.
  19. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 06:41 AM) I thank him for that, but we underachieved from 2001-2004 and we've been basically dreadful since 2009. A lot of it was due to poor talent evaluation and his trade negotiation skills, which have been near inept at times. In the end, he's given us 2 playoff teams in his 15 year tenure. Thanks for the WS, but it's time to step aside. no offense and i am not being a smart arse..... but that goes back to the owners.
  20. QUOTE (woods of ypres @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 06:39 AM) Really upsetting as a fan. pretty much what the fans on this board been saying since the off season. thing is, and really think on this........ has anyone on this board thought otherwise???? edit..... except for greg
  21. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 06:38 AM) So if he trades Anderson, Montas, and Adams in his quest to go for it. Its all good. i am a huge anderson and adams fan, i would be royally pissed. then as some admin said earlier, all we do is complain.
  22. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 06:35 AM) If Puig came to the sox I don't think he would be a problem at all. Abreu and Alexei will get him in line and keep him there that is if he is still around. abreu can only do so much.... puig is bigger than life ..... at least in his very young, adolescent, egotistical feed mind.
  23. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 06:34 AM) Williams and his "all in" Williams and his grinders. Been hearing that nonsense for 6 years....and have seem the damage his moves have caused for 6 years as well. Just leave, Williams, and let Hahn build this team. but on his resume, he got the sox their 1 world series in how many yrs???? no pls do not take this as i am a kw supporter, which i am not and have not since the late 90's.
  24. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 05:26 AM) Declining K rates from Samardzija are concerning. Overall, he hasn't been super duper this year. Dodgers seem to want to deal Puig, so wouldn't give up more than Q. While a fair deal, I would do it. Great talent, but don't trust Puig. talent wise, is 1 thing, but the clubhouse cancer is what i have my concerns.
  25. with the latest on the puig front, per mlb rumors. assuming on the shark trade, if yes i would do this. to la Q, Petricka, Danish or Rodon, Sunburn to chi Puig, Yimi García, Seager or Sweeney, Barnes, if it is sweeney > Holmes, if not > De Jong the players on the dodgers will be PTNL, meaning after the playoff. edit.... i would of course run this thru Jose A. to see if there are or is any problems on that front, also for his ok.
