  1. QUOTE (MDWhiteSoxFan @ May 31, 2015 -> 02:21 PM) Haha at people wishing Gordon Beckham is a starter now. How opinions change so quick. just making an observation on how desperate the fans are. when the org thought they had in the most part assembled enuf players to fix the hole esp in their thought of prospects stepping up. well all that failed, the system is devoid of any help coming from the minors. what other choice is there?? i mention this the other day, time to go dumpster driving on players on the waiver list. again there is no prospects who can help in the minors.
  2. if he is hitting an avg of 216 and lets say he moves up, he will drop in avg even more. i wanted him to do better this yr and i have refrain from criticizing him. but ........ oh well. we can see all the writing.
  3. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 31, 2015 -> 12:14 PM) http://smellslikemascot.blogspot.com/2015/...g-down.html?m=0 excellent... excellent find.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 31, 2015 -> 07:15 AM) Outside of the obvious names, Beckham is arguably easier to deal than Bonifacio due to their contracts, but they're essentially stuck with possible Samardzija and Ramirez moves. None of the top 10 or so minor league prospects have elevated their value since the end of 2014. Dealing Ramirez means you have to replace him to compete next year, but with who? Stephen Drew? Tim Anderson? Sanchez...Saladino....Leury? Hard to sell a competing team with two gaping holes up the middle, at catcher, 3B, LF and still short at least one 8th inning guy in the bullpen. and taping into the fa pool and loosing picks in not a way to go.
  5. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 31, 2015 -> 05:01 AM) Glad someone pointed this out. It's not like losing to Bruce Chen. so the sox lost is now ok??
  6. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ May 31, 2015 -> 01:49 AM) I think that if there White Sox are ever going to go all in on the international market this is the year to do it. I like the players that I they have been attached to so far, especially Franklin Reyes, who's power tool is a legit 70 right now but they should go all in on Martinez. I trust MLB's evaluations and they have all five of his tools at 60+. Martinez could be a huge addition to the future of the organization and would give the team a nice building block going forward. I remember watching the Braves play everyday on TBS growing up and seeing Andruw Jones make at least two defining plays that would help the Braves win. This has to be the team's top priority in the international market. The Jorge Soler and Yoan Moncada deals would serve as good references for the team, Alvarez is my favorite player on the market and I would love for the Sox to sign him but his fate might already be sealed as he has been connected to the Dodgers for a few months now but I hope Rich Hahn and Marco Paddy do their best to pry him away. I am writing something about the White Sox, July 2nd plans and since more info has come out about Martinez, I will write a quick blurb about him. i agree, there are some interesting names and bloodline players avail. can't wait for your blurb.
  7. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 31, 2015 -> 05:05 AM) I think Houston goes with 2 position players. If I had to predict, I'd go with: 1. Arizona-Dansby Swanson SS 2. Houston- Brendan Rodgers SS 3. Colorado- Tyler Jay LHP 4. Texas- Alex Bregman 2B 5. Houston- Daz Cameron CF 6. Minnesota- Dillon Tate RHP 7. Boston- Andrew Benintendi CF 8. Sox-Carson Fulmer RHP nice one.
  8. i was surprise how Penny pitched today. got to give him credit when he deserves it.
  9. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ May 31, 2015 -> 05:03 AM) Found this. http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=2...87&sid=t487 "Left-handed pitcher Jordan Guerrero - the South Atlantic League's leader in ERA, strikeouts, and innings pitched - has been placed on the Disabled List retroactive to May 23." Should be coming back since Kanny has him listed as being on the seven day DL. Could come off the DL and go to Winston. a real nice find. i wonder what is and how he got injured.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 31, 2015 -> 04:01 AM) Hey, I wanted to add to this thread. We should never take for granted a gorgeous Game Seven victory in the division finals ON THE ROAD in any sport. I mean the Hawks have spoiled us, but what an excellent performance. Think about how bummed Anaheim must be. Hawks go in there and dominate the game early. Then after it's 4-2, Hawks immediately score again. I mean Anaheim fans had to be cocky entering Game 7 at their place. Also kudos to all the Hawks fans in attendance. The Hawks have been a true dynasty in Chicago. Next to the Jordan-led Bulls, this is what you want as a fan. A long run of domination. Hawks have won two of the last five Stanley Cup titles. If they win another, that's three out of six in arguably the toughest sport to win a title. Now my one question. To the hockey experts on here and I know there are more than a few. Take off your homer hats and tell me what you think of the final series. Who is going to win and why? Is there any chance the Hawks can split in Tampa then come home and win two and grab three wins out of the first four games? it all depends on how healthy the team is. reg season is less than playoff season is less than stanley cap games. it is an whole new animal and the every player is going to be hyped. this is the time to really hope that your goaltender is on his game. pray to the hockey gods that your dman's can continue to perform the way they have. lastly hope that your offensive guys shows up. lastly hope lady luck is smiling on your team.
  11. i like this b/c Brad Richards joined the Hawks for this very reason. even thou he didn't have his normal offensive stats for a season, but he is going to see lord stanley.
  12. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 31, 2015 -> 02:08 AM) Would you do those deals if you were the Blue Jays or the Astros coming back to this one, if i was hou and Shark was avail, hell yeah, b/c the west is theirs to loose it. add Shark to that pitching group and add how their offense is doing. lastly how the other teams are performing. i think they will do it.
  13. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 31, 2015 -> 03:50 AM) Good question. i was looking and i can't find anything on it.
  14. for the hawks, 3 dman played more than 25 mins i think.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 31, 2015 -> 02:43 AM) No, someone suggested that because one of their pitchers is out for the next 6 weeks. It doesn't make sense unless the White Sox lose like their next 10 games and fall back to the worst record in baseball. That pitcher will be back before the trade deadline and the White Sox aren't in a hurry to throw in the towel yet. and you are right, it all depends on if, they do not improve. btw, i mention something like this in my org post in this thread. either way, i am not for giving up.
  16. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 31, 2015 -> 02:42 AM) Doesn't matter. This is where the Sox are better than other teams. The medical staff has been consistent for decades. They have earned the ability to tell the team when a player should or shouldn't go. I want all players to refuse to come out. That's the competitive nature. This is why you need a manager you will listen to the medical staff. Each of those issues you listed need to be treated differently and this group has the experience. i agree and that is why i wrote it that way. i love the competitive nature of the players, but that is why it does take a strong manager to step up and say no, take a seat you are coming out. that is another reason i asked, was it Avi telling RV he can continue. no one knows that answer. listening to the medical staff is one thing, making a decision based on the sake of the team is another. oh well, i guess with can keep going in circles here. i will never disagree with you on the medical side. thanks.
  17. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 31, 2015 -> 02:08 AM) Would you do those deals if you were the Blue Jays or the Astros last week, somewhere in the rumors page was listed as Hou looking at Shark.
  18. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ May 31, 2015 -> 01:41 AM) The Sox are last in the AL in runs scored and faced a pitcher that leads the AL in ERA. The results today are not surprising one bit. Defensively the Sox are better off with Beckham at 3B and Sanchez at 2B but offensively the lineup is better with Gillaspie and Beckham. Which to choose? The lack of options really make this debatable. a nice post on options.
  19. QUOTE (SCCWS @ May 31, 2015 -> 01:03 AM) My question is who watched Johnson in spring training and decided he was ready. Then after 6 weeks decided he was not ready defensively and had him sent down. Next called up Sanchez to replace him while he was struggling offensively in AAA for the 3 weeks before he was recalled. Somebody in this organization seems to be having a hard time judging skills needed to play in the ML. It is one thing giving a young player a chance. But Johnson and Sanchez are not close to being ML ready and hopefully their confidence is not lost with this fiasco. this and QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 31, 2015 -> 01:23 AM) I agree with you on all this. Also, I kept reading how some thought middle infield was a position of strength for the organization when in fact it's yet another hole. When it comes to position players, this organization does not do well at identifying or developing talent. are excellent posts. my only thought is in the flaw of aggressive promotions that the powers to be just ASSUME they are ready. also like this they will not have to address the hole via FA.
  20. QUOTE (LDF @ May 31, 2015 -> 12:31 AM) and that fall to the manager RV, who makes up the lineup. if this is causing this much heartburn, can you imagine, and this if from memory of some wanting to trade Aelxei and play Saladino. jeeze. i want to follow up on this, this was not a best way to address problems of the team but pointing fingers at players, and insinuating that it might be the reason. do i know whose fault, do you?? no. it is something we as fans have to deal with.
  21. QUOTE (harkness @ May 31, 2015 -> 01:28 AM) I'm not sure that might idea of Beckham at 2nd is the best... at least could try it for a few games with Sanchez on the bench. What is there to lose? and that fall to the manager RV, who makes up the lineup. if this is causing this much heartburn, can you imagine, and this if from memory of some wanting to trade Aelxei and play Saladino. jeeze.
  22. QUOTE (harkness @ May 31, 2015 -> 12:23 AM) I have read other threads thinking Sanchez isn't ready because of his hitting... this is far from the first time this has been brought up. If you are really considering the kids future - I'm not sure allowing him to continue to bat .150 for the next few weeks is good for his future. you may very well be right, but on a snarky come back, i would say who's fault was it to rush 2 players to play 2nd????
  23. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 31, 2015 -> 12:17 AM) Just because there's several problems doesn't mean you don't move to fix any problems. Those you list are not doing as horrendously as Sanchez, and have no real alternatives, though I've been a long-term advocate of replacing Flowers. you have a point, but mine is, lets not bicker on something that may not even be the problem. the priority of different players comes in account on those i mention. it is a domino effect of a lousy beginning of a season.
  24. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 31, 2015 -> 12:09 AM) You seem to have a habit of putting words in people's mouths. He didn't say scoring no runs was Sanchez's fault. He simply suggested replacing the guy with a wRC+ of 14 with the guy with a wRC+ of 111. you have a point, but why not mention Eaton, Flowers, Soto....
  25. QUOTE (harkness @ May 31, 2015 -> 12:55 AM) Yeah sending Sanchez back to AAA would be "panic"? Or playing guys at positions they have always played.. Weird definition of panic there Dick. Nor did I say it was Sanchez fault... it's just another hole in a bad lineup and even more it I worry about his confidence. i really hate to say this again, i said it last week. loosing really magnifies every little stupid mistakes.
