QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 29, 2015 -> 11:38 PM) Kane & Toews helped a smidge. and those 2 were what number when they were picked?? beside that, Toews is a freak. who comes out and starts playing with the poise he had. he became captain of a nhl team at what age, and i am not talking about a paper capt. the last point in that rant is who was the GM and did the right selection in the draft.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 29, 2015 -> 11:30 PM) The only reason Sox have any decent minor leaguers now is slotted picks. If that would not of changed Sox would still be last in spending and ranked 30th. If not for that Rodon would never of been drafted, but someone Sox could of got at #3 they could sign cheap. it also helps outside Rodon, the sox picked good players that can develop. again outside the first round.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 29, 2015 -> 11:10 PM) I actually witnessed one fan interaction with Bill Wirtz and had one myself. Bill was walking in front of the Board of Trade about 15 years ago when a guy just got in his face screaming at him as Bill continued to walk down Jackson. I was torn between thinking it was funny and thinking it was pathetic, but it is something I don't think I will ever forget. And omce I was in a United Center bar befor a game about the time plasma TVs were coming out. It wasn't high def yet but sure enough Bill shows up and starts talkimg to my buddy and me about how these TVs are goimg to make watching hockey on TV so much better. He was right on about that one. in my time of being a hockey season ticket holder, a 10+ yrs. i ran into him and pully on different times. pully was a dick. Bill was great in talking to fans. comes across very friendly and approachable. he had this charm about him. now this was as a fan.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 29, 2015 -> 10:51 PM) I understand the point that at some point a core ends its run. But our core was strong 2000-2012. We had some great core players so we had a chance to win every year. Our core additions failed- Peavy, TCQ etc. good ideas that didn't pan out. But anybody who says we didn't look good on paper most of those years is crazy. I'm still amazed that we have a good, new core without having to pay the price of losing to acquire it. Sure we've lost a lot the last few years but we have yet to be hopelessly bad for a stretch. We're close. The players need to quit sucking so the heat can get off RV. my point had nothing to do with RV. but in ref to a team past its time. no team will know that, until its in a middle of loosing several yrs in a row, so to speak. then it is too late to do anything but to ride it out. there is no tell tale sign that will lead them to believe it is time.

GT 5/29: White Sox (21-25) vs. Astros (30-18)

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 29, 2015 -> 11:58 PM) Fire Herm Schneider? chain of command = the accountability factor. HS, RV, GM1, GM2 and the owners. pick one. -
GT 5/29: White Sox (21-25) vs. Astros (30-18)
LDF replied to Eminor3rd's topic in 2015 Season in Review
even if Avi said he could play thru it. sit him. again look at Sale last yr. develop some sense and balls and make the right moves. players mentality is to play no matter what. how many times is this going to happen before he, RV does the right thing. -
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:55 PM) Oh the media would revive that mess. Supposedly it would offend people who live here and are waiting for things to improve back home. I bet Ozzie would turn them down anyway, BTW that situation with managers seems so "White Sox" except firing during the season. Trying to get a former experienced manager still drawing a salary is probably hard to do. anything to do with ozzie makes my skin crawl.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 29, 2015 -> 11:45 PM) I am not going to insult anyone's intelligence and say Rocky isn't better than his father, but they were about to get good . Whether it was at least 2 cups good we will never know. And JR is a far better steward than Dollar Bill. I hope you aren't suggesting you look forward to JR"s death. that is why i left it the way i did. i never wanted somebody who i don't know dead. it would be great if he would step down and let the youngins take over.

in hardball, it was mention that Tor is looking for a RP. i wonder if the sox can help, maybe someone from the minor league roster like Sanburn??

QUOTE (Tex @ May 29, 2015 -> 08:17 PM) You are creating a premise that is how these laws were designed to work. You are stating this is why the laws were proposed. We all know that laws do not prevent a crime. If we used that criteria we wouldn't have any laws. Again, I ask. Name one law in the history of laws that prevented crimes from being committed? The reason we have laws is to determine the punishment. In the end, that is all they do. Chickens are not allowed to cross the road > Georgia You can be arrested or fined for harassing Bigfoot > Wash st. so far no one had ever been arrested for violating this laws, which are still in effect,

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:41 PM) You can and should do everything you can to attract fans but you can't let what they want determine what is best for the franchise. Really simple. If you think they want a certain player...they will want a winning team more. i like it. power to the people.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:47 PM) Peavy's freak lat ruined our chances. TCQ put up MVP numbers. Dunn I always hated the move but it made sense. How do you change the philosophy of aquiring or standing behind good players? That's our philosophy. I like it personally. s*** happens. while you make a good point. this was a perfect example that the phillies tried to do. keep the train moving by adding on the core. keep the winning team moving forward. the problem is, the sox org should have dismantle it, and start with building a core. the main problem was and still until recently, the sox org had shiite in the lower ranks to supplant the team, to ease the rebuild. so the worst of 2 evils, continue to add or patch up a sinking ship or rebuild it. what cost more in money and fan attendance. which will affect the income coming in and season tickets to continue to go up? being force to make ticket discounts, and acquire fa's to build that team.
-
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:41 PM) And how did that change? Bill died. Son decides to line the organization with people from consistent winning organizations and not littering it with former players. first you asked or stated an opinion. i answered it. now you want a follow up....... man aren't you ever satisfied. the philosophy needs to change from the owners group on down. that is all i am going to say, i will let you and others fill in the rest. but i think you got half the discussion fixed in your statement.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 29, 2015 -> 10:27 PM) No, that's Sharknado 1/2 and Piranha 3D. dang it and i missed it.

there are just some movies that are just plain brain dead movies and the only value it has is entertainment. that is i grade the movies. that is 1 category.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:06 PM) Kelly Dwyer with the best piece I've seen so far. It puts both sides at fault, which is where it belongs. i think that last para was said many times on this site in different ways. Thib played the players esp when rose wasn't there, with his shear will. but it gets old.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ May 29, 2015 -> 10:07 PM) I'd rather have change in upper management. http://chicago.suntimes.com/baseball/7/71/...ng-expectations This bigger problem is Reinsdorf. why, he learned it all from $$ Bill of the BlackHawks. i am being honest here.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 29, 2015 -> 10:04 PM) Yea. I'm super impressed with the setup of our FO. While I don't know how all the other teams work, I get the impression that most FO's are chaotic and impersonal. I like that our team is like a family; blood you can trust. KW & RH are Jerry's sons. So are RV, PK & still even still OG- OG is like the relative in rehab that you still love and know will come back one day to the table to eat. most excellent. btw, i just thought of this and i don't know why. i wonder the way most of the posters here on this site voiced their opinions. i truly wonder if soxtalk will get their special seating on the next sox convention next offseason.
-
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 29, 2015 -> 09:51 PM) But don't you guys get it that KW & RH, brace for it, WANT Jerry in on most of it? They all like each other and like working together and have put damn good on-paper teams on the field almost every year since 2005. Players have sucked for the most part, it stinks. Peavy & Dunn crippled the franchise's chances of winning. Arguably good aggressive moves that didn't pan out. TCQ breaking his hand ruined us for years thinking he would regain his form as our beast. Rios...mercy. I dislike that some of you want to blame people. Who are you to judge? It's just a silly game. do not forget the drafting and great farm system the sox have
-
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 29, 2015 -> 08:39 PM) Some of you guys are crazy. The players are sucking horribly right now. I'm excited to see what happens as the weather warms up and Melky gets going. oh i am with you, this is trying to figure out the sox org FO.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 29, 2015 -> 08:35 PM) Who cares about the fans? If we win big they will come; if the Sox continue to flounder they won't. and if there are not afraid of the fans. then why come out with there press release on anything. there is a strange contradictions there.

after the july 2 deadline. sign them all and screw the cap. take the 2 yr penalty.

QUOTE (Brian @ May 29, 2015 -> 08:16 PM) Exactly. I loved Armageddon when I was younger. i think i will pass on this one. Johnson acting is well, hard to take. Armageddon is a great movie, for the first 4 times i watched it. now..... forget about it.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 29, 2015 -> 05:22 PM) I think the problem is the Bulls had one of the best front offices in the league at collecting talent and one of the best coaching staffs in the league as well. Blowing both of those up would be the bigger mistake as it would leave you starting 100% from scratch. Clearly this got bad enough that JR, who was one of Tom's staunches advocates, even got off the bandwagon and decided it was time. It seems like the reality was JR would have allowed the issues to continue to go together if things were kept internally better and probably more importantly if the players didn't start to grow weary of Tom. imo, Thib's stop becoming the yes man close to the beginning, maybe Rose's 2nd knee injury. then he fought with the FO. Thib is a great coach Thib may be a lousy FO man esp in drafting. how much of this is players getting tired of thib 100% being hard on them.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 29, 2015 -> 07:46 PM) The layers of management the Sox have in making decisons is NOT working and has not for years. oh i hate to disagree with you here. the only chain of command or in this case management in the sox org is this. 1 owner 2. owners lap dog, > Kw 3. kw telling what to do in a memo. 4. cronies.
