  1. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 06:44 PM) Texas definitely looks like the better all around team...I'll go with USC I have a mancrush on Reggie Bush, I his Playstation NFL Gameday '98 quality juke moves texas has a history with my family and anytime there have a chance to do something on the nat'l level i am for them however, i voted for usc, that offense is tooooo good.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) When the best quarterback on the roster gets healthy enough to play. can you name the last 2 time we ever had a good off coord? practually this whole season has been save b/c of the "D"
  3. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 06:39 PM) As much as I want to try and deal Garland.. No thanks to Zito, IMO he is going to the NL.. besides..remember the last time we traded for a pitcher with the A's..That worked out well huh? Garland should be dealt at the winter meetings, as stated in a thread I started give garland our best offer, if he says no then bye bye.. His stock is very high right now sell now. BTW, I love Garland.. i am for trading anyone, however i think jon is more valuable playing for us and then let him walk if we can't sign him. we gets some compensation. the playoff and getting there is and should be a piroity and jon did help us get there. i am concerns as i have always been concern with jose and orlando performance.
  4. now they score, but seriously i haven't been impress with the off.
  5. why does't the offense score more, is the problem with the off coord???
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 06:11 PM) With ARod? I'll be willing to bet that's false. it was with alex fernadez for starters and it happen a couple of more times. i think at least 2 more times. i think arod was the other one. but if i remember correctly, he just fielded offering and promise to get to the sox if another offer came that was better.
  7. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 05:58 PM) The only name on last years 25 man roster that has a chance of being moved is Marte, other than that expect KW to sit on his thumbs during the meetings. i wouldn't say that kw is going into the meeting looking to trade anyone. however, i am sure other managers may have guess that at the end of last season marte was in the doghouse. if a manager propose something for any of the players have, i am sure he will listen. i think his next spending is going to come from the non tenders field.
  8. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) EAT s*** SPANKEES!!!!!!!! how does the saying goes "you reap what you sow" as yansy said, all those crazy contracts. but lets look at it this way. was this the only yr they lost money or what?
  9. QUOTE(FGarcia34 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 11:54 PM) Well considering Zito is making 5.6 million now, what is to say he wouldnt accept a 3 year 24-27 million dollar offer? when next season he can break the bank so to speak. i don't think so. however if garland where to be traded, which i do not think will happen, we need prospects that will be ready in the next 2 yrs or so.
  10. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 way to go
  11. QUOTE(agame @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 11:16 PM) I'm just throwing it out there. But, he still performed well in the playoffs despite problems and teams always take risks (as we are taking with Thome). I'm wondering whether the Sox stance is so strong against Boras that Crede won't be signed after this year (I think this is his last contract year), then we might as well get something for him. in all honesty, i thought that he might be the only player that is represented by bor-ass that the sox might resign. it all depends on how the back is.
  12. i just saw this and i was laughing soooo hard. i love college rivalry. fox sports ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The Commander-In-Chief's Trophy was recovered Wednesday night, about 48 hours after it was believed to have been stolen, Navy officials said. The trophy, awarded annually to the winner of the football competition between the three major service academies, was found in a storage room inside Bancroft Hall, the academy's dormitory. "All that matters is that we found the (trophy) and it's in good hands, now," Navy athletic director Chet Gladchuk told The Washington Post. "We'll bring it to Philadelphia with us and the winner of the game will take it home with them." The 170-pound trophy was taken Monday night from the team's locker room, Navy spokesman Scott Strasemeier said. It is normally displayed in a locked glass case at Bancroft Hall, but was moved to the football building to provide motivation for the players. Left in its place was a note that read: "Before we win the football game on Saturday, we thought we would take the trophy. By the time you read this, it will be halfway to West Point," home of the U.S. Military Academy. Although it appeared that the theft was an Army prank, there was no evidence except for the note. In the past, Army has stolen the goat that Navy used as a mascot.
  13. QUOTE(agame @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 11:04 PM) Do you think that the possible signing of Meuller could mean that Crede could be traded? After all he is represented by Boras and his stock is at a peak (and has possible back problems to boot). This may be a good time to try to get something for him although AJ will be sad. it is no secret that joe has back problems right now. do you think other owners would want damage goods?
  14. was he banned, remember i was gone for a long time.
  15. QUOTE(3E8 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) Are you Jabroni? those were my thoughts as well.
  16. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) Theres a possibility. i know we have talked about it in the past, you and me. but i can't see the fans coming here. i think they will associate the board with sox. that being said. franks hockey site. i don't know if you can draw off the fans from there. plus you will need writers and fans who goes to the games to rpt on it. i know, b/c i have seen a few posters from here on that site. then there is the forum at hockey future. bulls, can you go agains the realgm site? i really don't like that site but they have tons of resources. dabears, here is where you might do something. you will need writers and you already have a steady fan base here. what are your thoughts. i would love to see it happen.
  17. the pict looks really nice. what a concept.
  18. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) I think it's pretty ridiculous that you don't understand why everyone hates Boras. i don't know which this reply is going to make me look, but i will say this, i hate bor-ass. 1. as the business side goes, i guess if a player needs to max a deal without regards to loyalty to anyone or any team, he is the man. 2. it is not bor-ass fault that stupid teams are willing to pony up to get his clients. 3. how many teams are now trying to unload and get rid of those same clients, tex, fla, arz, ummm sCrubs but they got burn from him. those players never fulfill potential...... hehehe 4. in the beginning he toyed with the sox and then pulled his client to another team, leaving the sox high and dry. (alex fernadez and a few other fa's) as a homer, i hope all his clients never pans out which leave their perspective teams high and dry.
  19. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 07:02 PM) I think long term...Valido will be the better of the two defensively. I still question whether Valido will hit at higher levels, but he has the abilities. The thing that I like most about him are his smarts. The guy just knows what to do with the baseball on the field. He looks more like a guy the Twins would bring up in years past in the sense that he knows what to do with the ball, is heady on the basepaths and seems to be able to use all fields. He still needs to produce in AA before we start annoiting him a great SS. I think upside wise, he would be a slappy SS with 10-15 HR pop and 30-50 stolen bases (probably closer to 30). I don't know if he'll win a gold glove, but he has the tools to be an above average defensive SS and I don't think he'll ever win the batting title. I could see him producing a .280-310 AVG, 10-15 HR, 30-50 SB with a .360ish OBP. Ie, I could see him turning into a pretty darn good leadoff or 2 hole hitter. That said these are really ridiculous estimates right now because he's simply played in A ball. If he produces like he did this past season in Bham, than I'll stand by those projetcions. i have never been able to predict or guess hitting from minor to majors. so i will give way to you on this. i however agree with what you said. i always hope that he can hit 240-260 and with that, can we live with a lite hitting ss who can provide other intangibles to the team. yes
  20. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 06:47 PM) I really don't consider Lopez much of a prospect. His career minor league SLG% is .329, and combined at Charlotte/Birmingham last year, his OBP hovered around .270. At this point, he'll be lucky to crack the bigs (again) as a defensive replacement. i agree with you on his offensive upside. you won't see me arguing that with anyone. but if valido doesn't pan out and the sox need someone to shore up the "d", lopez is it. hownever i am looking at the future and where we stand. its going to take what 3 or 4 yrs to develop a minor leaguer for the bigs, that is if he is skilled. we are going to have a retool our pitching as well. where are we with contracts for our key players. it looks like 2 to 3 yrs down the road some of our key players contracts are up. we are going to need help.
  21. QUOTE(KWs OK for Me @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 01:59 AM) Such as . . . wait and you will be the wiser.
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 06:31 AM) I think the Sox would like to get Anderson 300-400 Ab's this year if they can. That way he'll be less of a rookie in 07, which means the Sox would be more comfortable having two younger players developing in the outfield (in fact they could have Anderson as a full time starter in 07, with Young now getting worked into the lineup slowly in 07 as a 4th outfielder). I still think its a question-mark that far in advance cause either could be dealt and personally I think this will be Pods final season on the southside (but thats just a matter of opinion). Regardless, Young has a great work ethic and seems to be a pretty good learner. He has been working hard the past couple years when it comes to laying off the breaking ball and has been getting better at it each and every year. I'd be more worried about him if he didn't have a good eye, but he seems to have that going for him (he was drawing more and more walks as the season went on). He'll never not be a strikeout hitter, but if he can adjust enough to breaking pitches he'll be able to do great things at the major league level. Defensively he's the best CF the Sox have too. Anderson would probably shift to RF, although Young could technically be one hell of a Lfer, although he doesn't have the arm for RF. His arm is a lot better than most, but it definately wouldn't be a plus RF arm, it would be a plus LF arm and a good CFer arm. The key will be how the rest of the team is. If the rest of the team is good enough and they aren't developing any other players (uribe and Crede should be at that stage guys ready to take the next step) which means Anderson and Young could replace them in the develop as you go roll so you could afford to live with the rookie mistakes, especially since both have the talent to make big plays. This develop one or two rookies at a time philosphy is one that has been used by the Braves for a long time and its really worked well. I hope the Sox will be able to do it (it keeps pressure off rookies while allowing one or two a year to develop which means your team stays young and can be sucessful for a long period of time). if pods has another yr as he did this past, what will you do with him???
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 1, 2005 -> 06:47 PM) I was even thinking if somehow like a Illini Board a Bulls Board, a Bears board all seperate but the off topic boards all tie into one or something. r u thinking of doing something like that here?
  24. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 3, 2005 -> 07:08 AM) We are...? i think we are with valido prospering and in the wings is lopez. granted in a worst case scenerio, if needed we can see a lite hitting ss until we get one via fa's if needed. what are your thoughts
