  1. Other than those few minor faults you really like the guy right?
  2. I was incommunicado the last two days. Didn't see any scores at all. A loyal Soxnetter I go to the site and there is this horrible news. What is the matter with Buehrle? Another season down the drain?
  3. Denny was married to Lou Boudreau's daughter. Hall of Fame SS Boudreau who was a long time cub radio man was from the same South Suburban area (Harvey) as Denny. They have since divorced IIRC.
  4. I'm not Pauline Kael, or Siskel and Ebert or anything like that either. I am a great admirer of the late Akiro Kurosawa the great Japanese director. Rashomon is my all time favorite movie, and no I don't speak Japanese. Also liked his movie Stray Dog. My favorite American movie is High Noon the 1952 classic with Gary Cooper. The scene at the end where he throws his badge in the dirt is classic. Grace Kelly always gets to me, I can't think of a modern actress with anything close to her beauty and for the lack of a better term sex appeal. I shall stop now before eyes glaze over or start to roll.
  5. Great story and one of my favorite Sox games in recent history. It's one reason why I don't give up on CLee.
  6. If I gave a list of my favorite movies I'd probably be run off the board. Either that or folks would think never heard of that.
  7. Because I am unoriginal I use my initials and birthdate.
  8. Denny had the world by the tail in 68-69. Then his fastball just disappeared. He was an interesting rouge type guy who lived life recklessly. What a character with an outrageous sense of humor.
  9. I remember watching him pitch for the Sox too. He was destined for basketball and with his passing I feel old.
  10. Right in your backyard. Go for it!
  11. He has a very awkward throwing motiion but I always liked him more than JG and think he can be a decent #3. Man do we ever need him now.
  12. I found it fun in another story I read that the DEA raided his house without a warrant. Thank you, PATRIOT Act! :finger Now we got Sacco and Venzetti. I'm the grandson of Italian immigrants on the maternal side. My grandmother, who was Italian to the bone often talked about the case as she was a teenager when they were tried and executed. I got so curious I read about them. Don't have access to my notes now, but there is strong circumstantial evidence that Sacco was guilty. There is no hard or soft evidence against Venzetti. Their trial was horrendous and would never pass muster today.
  13. We're 11-19 without him. Who would have thunk it?
  14. Don't get me going on this, I'll get ripped for sure. We have lost control of our borders that is for sure. Really I'm going to stop now or this will be the longest post in the history of Soxnet.
  15. A subsidiary of Mayflower. They took our stuff on May 9 and we don't get it delivered until May 16 or 17. Is this normal????? Wish I actually "knew" you, maybe you could have helped us wade through this. I always moved myself in the past. Didn't know you worked for Bekins, thought you might have worked for some financial services firm or brokerage house.
  16. I don't have time to check my facts, but I believe that the Sox have had a better record than the Cubs in something like 40 of the last 56 baseball seasons. You can go to baseballreference.com and do the research. Chicago as a Cubs town is a post 1984 thing. When I was your age Chicago was definitely a Sox town, and we were much more mature about than today's trendy phonies in their cubbie blue. Stick to your guns, even if it is hard. Years from now you'll be proud that you did. Many "fans" of the cubs can't tell the difference between a baseball, a basketball and a watermelon.
  17. You and I have had our share of disagreements but this thing looks real bad. The SS should not have been called in unless the students made a direct threat on the life of the President. The SS has to take all of those seriously. But if they were only being critical of his policies or whatever, then this is supposed to be a free country. I don't have time to look it up, but there was a similar case that happened in Chicago during Clinton's time, when a young couple who tried to question the President, were told to shut up then arrested and spent the nite in Cook County jail. I am not a liberal, but have a very strong liberterian streak and do take notice of such events.
  18. Sorry I haven't been more vocal defending you guys, very busy with the move and all. Most of our stuff is on a van somewhere in North America and the rest is in the car. By the way, while I haven't been posting much the Sox seem to be melting down. It's literally making me ill. At my age I should be more mature, but I guess not. Anyway, there are lots of posters here with lots of credibility on a variety of subjects, you can pretty much post in your own personal style and the fights in general are not as vicious as they are on most other boards be they baseball or whatever. There are some great posters at WSI and MLB, never had problem one with the mods at WSI. I still prefer here. Don't slam Steff or HSC, research their posts and use your head. I, for one look forward to what they have to say.
  19. It's too bad you get raked over the coals about this. You have credibility with me as does HSC, as do many many here who post on prospects, trades, etc.

    Max Kellerman

I don't get it. He passes himself as the worlds foremost authority on boxing.
  21. I have responded favorably to some of your "baseball" posts. However it appears that you go from internet site to internet site just spoiling for a fight. Why do you have such an immature insecure needs? I've had some strong disagreements with some folks on this site, but always tried to be civil and roll with the punches when I got slammed. This is my last baseball board, I've left others in part because of folks like you. Do you cut people off on the freeway, slap your girlfriends around, pick fights with jockey sized guys? Somebody needs to not be afraid to tell you that you are a boor.
  22. You want cold,it's snowing today for the 5th time in as many days. SI you'll have to try a bit harder to keep me up to date on the Stiller vibe from Pittsburgh, what is Columbia a poor man's version of? Mathew there are ex Pittsburghers (Picksburghers in Pittsburghese) everywhere. I already know of two places in Columbia that cater to Steeler fans on NFL Sunday. Don't worry Mathew I'll keep you posted if you need me to. I also got my wife the original, Steeler, Pirate, Penguin and Panther fanatic. She'll want to stay in the loop. Columbia like many other mid sized and bigger sun belt metropolitan areas is home to more and more impoverished Yankees from the aging and dying rust belt. Many native southerners are none too happy about it, while they count our money. Columbia is the recent past, present and future of the country. The rust belt is dying a slow and painful death and nobody seems to notice or give a s***. It kind of ticks me off. Anyway Mathew, if Tommie gun stays healthy and they shore up a few defensive shortcoming the Stillers should be OK once again. You got to go Heinz Field some day. What an experience. Fans rooting for the opposition are putting life and limb in danger. I got lots of Stiller fan stories to tell you if we ever meet. Especially when Cleveland comes to town.
  23. I'm tryin!! This damn cold is kicking my ass!! I should be back to normal by the weekend. Extra vitamin C. I think Linus Pauling was right after all.
  24. You think he sent them a check?

    Guys

Whatever happens I think it will be apparent if KW is interfering again or not. It looks like KW got his wings clipped a bit. Let JM manage. Last nite was a good start.
