  1. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 01:43 PM) I restate my "b****" comment then. Oh, I never expected that one to be rescinded.
  2. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) Yes, way back when. I'm hurt. I mean really, there can't be that many people you know from Iowa State who know who you are. We still have a date for Chomsky here this April? Hm, I bet you're still listed, then. Actually, Noamy is coming here next weekend so I think I'm going to have to cancel. . .
  3. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 23, 2006 -> 01:22 PM) I'd expect different of you.... That and I added you as a Facebook friend a few months ago and you must have turned it down. b****. You added me to facebook?

    QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Feb 22, 2006 -> 01:18 AM) MY OSCAR PREDICTIONS: How many threads do you need to post your predictions in? I would think that one would be sufficient.
  7. I liked the post- 1500 press conference. It went like this: nice, nice, nice, nice Shani: I just wish that Chad had acted like a teammate after I won the gold and shook my hand. Chad: Silence, drinks a lot of water a la Harpo Marx in Night at the Opera, then says: Shani cost us the gold in the team persuit. At first I thought Shani was a total punk, but the more I hear him the more I think he wasn't the problem. It was nice to see him so happy for the Italian guy, he seemed like a good sportsman. I think Chad Hendrick is kind of a Bode Miller (all talk and excuses).
  8. US women have 3 of the top 7 skaters in women's figure skating after the short program.
  9. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 21, 2006 -> 03:34 PM) I agree, I'm sure he grew up in the burbs, owns an EMINEM record, can wear a baseball cap backward, owns oversize jeans, so he's HARD. I bet if you drop him off on the west side of Chicago, he'll prove it to you too. Eh, I'd rather drop K-Fed and his wife on the East side--the faaaaaaar east side. . .
  10. Just google it people. . .

  12. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 01:38 PM) Those vicious pen raised birds are wild. They're only fattened up so that they may be eaten after they're shot. Supposedly. My contention is that it WAS investigated. The sheriff's department was called VERY shortly after the accident. The MEDIA wasn't notified, and that is why all the BS coverage ever since. More of the media crap is 'why the coverup' (when there really wasn't one) then the actual shooting itself now. I understand that point, and I think it's a good one. I don't think there was anything sinister about not reporting it to the press, but I think it was naive, at best, to think that it wouldn't get picked up. And more than slightly short sighted to think it wouldn't be a big deal when they didn't find out right away. Heck, they could have made some statement up when they did talk about it and say, we didn't release the information out of respect to the victim's family. I would have bought that. Maybe I should get a PR job and quit this grad school nonsense. . .
  13. QUOTE(mreye @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 01:31 PM) No room fro free -thinkers in here, Balta! Lol, you mean it isn't as simple as liberal and conservative?
  14. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 01:29 PM) And no crime was committed (oh, he didn't have a 'stamp' - a law that went into effect 5 months ago and most hunters around here didn't even know about it and i live here). So what's the story again? He shot someone in the face. That's worthy of an investigation. I don't care if it's Jesus Christ or Muhummad or the VP of the US that pulled the trigger, that deserves an investigation. And, I personally, believe that if you're going to go hunting you should thoroughly check out local laws and rules. Of course, some of that should fall on the ranch owner, but Cheney is a big boy and perfectly capable to make sure he's in the clear to shoot those vicious pen raised birds. . .
  15. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) It doesn't matter. According to you liberals, what is done on PERSONAL time, shouldn't matter. Hmmmmmm. As long as its consensual I agree with that (but what do I know, I'm just a liberal. . .). If a CRIME is committed on personal time of course it matters.
  16. QUOTE(samclemens @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 01:03 PM) ride that bandwagon, willy. is that noam chomsky in your avatar? It's Party Chomsky. Funny that it's an old song given to willy over two decades ago.
  17. Saw it. love it. Also, this week's free iTunes download: Jesus loves you I don't
  18. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 15, 2006 -> 12:21 PM) I see a lot of people go through the quick peck and "love ya" routine as they're parting company with their spouses. It never looks very sincere, it looks routine. It's true. My parents and I do the quick love you bye thing at the end of phone conversations. We're not a lovey touchy kind of family. It's actually come to be a habit for me when I end phone conversatiosn to throw in the "love you bye." I've actually done it (the worst was when I did it on a voice mail--then called back immediately to explain my out of place love you). Also from dating someone through college it took me a long time of breaking the lean over and give a kiss as you get out of a car. It just became habit.
  19. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 03:50 PM) ... And I didn't expect anything less of you. Awwwww, happy valentine's day.
  20. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) As I said. Some things are just expected. And I personally, expected nothing less of you. . .

    QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 01:55 PM) I recall my parents discussing this, oddly enough, last week. My cousin just had their third child (within five years) and are holding another baby shower. First two alternated between boy/girl, and the third one will be a boy. They're pissed off they have to needlessly buy more items even though the clothing and toys/etc from the first boy should be enough. They're not exactly rich, but they're not poor either. That is the height of tacky. If it was me, I would show up with a card and a list of what I donated in their name to the local crisis shelter.

    QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 14, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) Its more common nowadays than it ever has been, but still isn't looked at too highly as I understand it. To be honest the way I had it explained to me, the poorer you are, the less down it is looked upon. It used to be this never happened, but those kind of old traditions are slowly fading away. I know its expensive to raise a baby, and I could understand this in some cases... I agree. I think it's tacky if the people aren't in a financial situation where they need it. . .
