I'm curious did our fans boo the white sox? I was talking to my brother the other day thinking they would get booed.

Thank you Jim Thome for the great memories you provided during your few years here. Thank you for those majestic home run shots, thank you for hitting number 500, and thank you for that memorable home run last year in game 163. Always a professional. Wish you could have finished your career with us. Hope you win a ring.

Sox at Yankees August 30th game thread
Whitewashed in '05 replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2009 Season in Review
Let's go sox! Pull out a win for my first trip to ny and first game at yankee stadium! -
QUOTE (dasox24 @ Aug 27, 2009 -> 06:03 PM) I like it the way it is now - all in one place so I don't have to check multiple forums. I can just come to the "Sports Pub" and see it all.

I am no good in sports. I really don't have an athletic body, 5'10" at 160 lbs. In HS my gym teacher who was a track/cross country coach wanted me to join. I am not fast and have no stamina. I don't know what he saw in me. So... I'll stick to working behind a computer screen and playing some sports terribly, but for fun and to get in better shape. The worse part about it is my dad and uncles were great athletes. My dad was lightening quick and strong with good instincts... I guess the athleticism skipped a generation, haha. I hope my kids... in the distant future when I have one or two don't get my sports genes and hopefully smarter... What was McLouth's record?

The good about the sox are they are a hot stretch away from taking 1st place. This team has played inconsistently all season long and if they could finally put it together when it means something we could be looking at our 2nd straight division title. However, the same can be said about the other side of the coin. They are one bad stretch away (this week) from being out of it. Maybe they will never put it together because they are just unable to and really are just a .500 team. As a sox fan I am happy they are in contention, very happy. I am also very frustrated with their inconsistent play because we all know they can do better. I have accepted the fact that on any given day they can come through with a big win or put up a big fat ugly L so I no longer hang my head when I see it like I was earlier in the season. I am going along for the ride and hope they come out on top. If not, then I'm very excited about next seasons team. Many of us never thought this team would be competing for the division this time of the year. We started the season with Fields, Getz, and Wise and another hole in the rotation by trading away the underachieving, but good starter in Javy (I'll admit I wanted his head). We now have our future at 3B, a good CFer, and an ace in Peavy all while continuing to develop our farm system. For a team who was getting some young talent infused for the future I'd say this season has been pretty good. I'll be rooting for my sox until the end. So with that said...

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Aug 21, 2009 -> 04:49 PM) Same here brotha. But I commend you for at least finishing. I dropped out very early. Maybe someday I'll go back. Umemployed as well, but hopefully soon to be security officer and perhaps an officer of the law (Cop/5-0/pig/etc..) in the near future. Though I'll have to go back to school for that.. Well I haven't finished yet... but as much time and money as I've put in the hell if I'm dropping out lol.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 21, 2009 -> 04:04 PM) How could you possibly hate college? One of the biggest reasons is probably because I don't stay on campus. Even if I did the dorms there suck. There are a bunch of others though. I've always hated school. I really hate the homework. It takes up too much of my life. Lol, I can go on.

I go to school and I'm an IT Consultant. I hate school though so I can't wait to finish. A lot of people tell me I'll miss it... I don't see how though. By the way MHizzle, you have an awesome avi.

Lol this is a good thread. There's a bunch of stuff I forgot about and some stuff I didn't even know. BigEdWalsh with some good stories! Some good ones are candidates for blooper of the year in MLBs this year in baseball awards. -V Mart kicking the bucket in the dugout and getting stuck to his foot. -Johnny Damon catching a deep fly ball and it comes loose when he hits the wall then falls back into the field. -Manny cutting off Damon's throw from deep CF.

Contreras hitting Craig Monroe in the cup with a high forkball a few years ago. A ball in the dirt going into the umpire's front pocket with a runner on 3rd. I believe the runner was Ray Durham??

Aardsma blows it in the 9th!
Whitewashed in '05 replied to stretchstretch's topic in The Diamond Club
Aardsma still sticks it to the sox even though he's not with the team anymore. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 08:37 AM) For all the talk about the Phillies being unstoppable in the NL, especially after they traded for Cliff Lee, no one seems to mention that they dont have a closer. As good as Lidge was last year, everyone knows hes capable of blowing up during the playoffs, especially during a season where his ERA is over 7. His confidence must be made of glass because his stuff has always been there even when he has struggled. Is he going to need to be traded again to be effective? Charlie needs to remove him and put him in some non pressure situations.

Just got the kings of leon album and I'm really enjoying.

Roy Halladay has been arguably the best pitcher in baseball for the past couple years. With that said I do not want him as it would cost too much. Giving up Lexi and Danks and/or Jenks and a some of our best minor leaguers? I don't think so. Besides like others I'm sure have mentioned he's getting a little old with a ton of mileage on his arm and he's good for like a DL stint each year it seems.

Ozzie and his Usage of Aaron Poreda.
Whitewashed in '05 replied to ThunderBolt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 06:52 PM) I am usually a defender of Ozzie, because I think he is doing things at times that people here don't see the long term view on. However, this season, there are two things he has done which are just not good, short or long term. One is the DeWayne Wise show (and don't talk to me about 1 at-bat today). The other is, Poreda is just sitting there in the 'pen getting rusty, which makes zero sense. I don't care so much exactly what situations he has him go in, I just want to see him pitch some damn innings. He's being misused and it drives me nuts. I wholeheartedly agree. If he isn't going to pitch Poreda here he needs to go back down and get some innings as a starter again. By the way, the times that I've seen him besides his first game he hasn't hit 95mph. I didn't get a chance to see the gun today. I thought this kid hit mid to high 90's consistently... -
Can their system sustain another big trade? I find it hard for a team to trade a bunch of good players 2 years in a row without opening more holes than they're filling. They might want to check on Cliff Lee first, even he will cost a lot.

Great interview guys, thanks.

QUOTE (SuperSteve @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 06:38 PM) It is retractable. My favorite Darren Jackson moment ever was at the Rogers Centre a few years ago. Someone could probably do a recap better but the short of it is they had the dome open that game (a day game) and it started to pour. DJ makes a comment like "they should get a tarp on the field, oh wait, it's a dome." One of my top five all time favorite funny sports moments. Lol yeah, Hawk was going off calling them idiots.

QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 01:33 AM) lol Earl Weaver breaking it down on "managers corner" NSFW "Terry Crowley's lucky he's in f***ing baseball" LOL! One of my new favorite internet videos... or audio clips.

SOX v. Minnesota 7/10/09 - 7:10 CSN
Whitewashed in '05 replied to MHizzle85's topic in 2009 Season in Review
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 10:04 PM) I wish we could fast forward through this weekend and just hear the results. The Sox need to play some ball. Do you agree if we are 6 back in the loss column at the break we are in deep s***? Can we count on Cleveland to win a game in Det? I thought the sox were changing when they started clawing back, but it just seems like the damn twins make every single amazing defensive play and get every single call when we play them there. We get no breaks, ugh I hate watching the sox at the dome. It's torture. -

How predictable is this game? How predictable are the sox at that dumb dome? They're gonna get swept and then were gonna hear the stupid "tip your cap to those guys". You would think the sox would have an edge seeing as how they just got owned by the Yankees. -
Piniella comments on Sox attendance
Whitewashed in '05 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
f*** Lou. There's a reason the scrubs haven't won a title in 100 years, not because of a stupid curse, not because of steve bartman, but because they have sucked for a century. Piss off Lou. I might get banned for this, but screw him. I could use the middle finger smiley right about now. -
His contract could've been a lot worse. After getting that procedure done in Austria or whatever they're lucky he was able to perform as well as he did the past couple years. That procedure wasn't even approved in the US (FDA approved? Not sure if that's the correct terminology.).
