LOL, I was pretty shocked to see the thread at 4 pages then I saw it got hijacked. Well here's my OPINION. I watch both boxing and MMA. I've been watching boxing all my life and just started getting into MMA. TO ME they are both fun to watch. People think that boxing is boring because they see the boxers hugging each other throughout a 12 round fight, yet those same people get all excited when they change the channel to MMA and watch them struggle with each other on the ground trying not to give the other fighter a chance at a submission or an easy KO position. One thing I don't like about MMA is that it can be brutal at times. Another thing is it can be kinda flukey (that my not be the best term). What I mean is, on any given fight a fighter can KO the other not because he was better or used better strategy, but because the opponent made a mistake and left himself vulnerable for a split second. Everyone made such a big deal about the Rampage/Silva fight... that was garbage. There was barely any action before the KO and then Rampage lands a shot flush on Silva when he was just throwing punches. WOW! Yeah the KO was cool, but once he was done I realized... one fighter landed a clean shot on the other and it was over, just like that. Was Rampage better than Silva because he landed one punch to KO him? Here's another, many of these MMA matches are lopsided. You rarely see a fight in which both the fighters held their own. Usually its one guy annihilating another. I'm not saying MMA is boring or crap, I'm just pointing out the flaws. Both sports have flaws. A fighter in each sport takes a long time to master or compete at a high enough level so it isn't about one being easier than the other. I enjoy both, I just don't see why MMA fans s*** on boxing each chance they get.

Are there any sports bars in the chicago area that still show boxing? It's all UFC or nothing these days...

Kenny said we will not add any additional payroll. If they sign someone, someone else must get traded. Even if we did have the money, Sheets is not a possible target of Kenny's. He won't sign anyone with that high of annual salary if he's going to be injury prone. Not gonna happen.

If Vizquel doesn't get a spot with the Rangers he should retire.

Does anyone else get irritated when you're speaking to someone and someone passes by and says good morning interrupting your conversation?

Wow so I'm not the only one that is able to seem normal while being drunk. What's funny is that since people can't tell how trashed I am, they don't know how bad I was until some other day when everyone's talking about what happened and I don't remember.

I don't like Danks going at all either. I would say the same for AJ, but he's probably rarely going to play so I don't mind. It's good CQ is going.

Jenks signed for 1 year, $5.5 Mill

Bobby is getting expensive, but he is well worth it. We haven't had a consistent closer year to year since Foulke which was a long time ago. It's good knowing going into the 9th with a lead we are pretty much sure a W. -
I think its the alternator

LOL, I love the part where Scott Boras calls and Kenny says I don't negotiate with terrorists! haha

Wow... For everyone to have survived something like that is a miracle. Thank god everyone's ok. Apparently the captain said "Brace for impact because we're going down."

I may be reading into this too much, but by making this move it looks as if our pitching staff is pretty much set. The last thing kenny does every year is sign a couple arms to complete for a spot.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 13, 2009 -> 11:13 PM) Yep, especially if Yankees get more for Swisher than we did. People are going to have a s***fit if they do. It all goes back to acquiring a LFer when we needed a CFer... -

QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jan 13, 2009 -> 08:46 PM) as long as the clock keeps tickin and we don't sign anybody else, he's got a shot to be number 5 starter -- scary as that sounds. I love how the article on whitesox.com talks about believing in Marquez and Richard because of how Danks and Floyd turned out... -

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jan 11, 2009 -> 03:27 PM) I don't remember, was their a "least favorite" White Sox player list, even though doing one would be kind of mean, but you know.... Lol, no need to do that one. I bet OC would win by a landslide with Booner and Horacio trailing... EDIT: wait... how can I forget... Javy will probably win...

Rumors: Sox/Reds Talking Dye for Bailey Swap
Whitewashed in '05 replied to Dick Allen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 05:48 PM) Isn't he busy enough? God, Cooper has become quite the tired cliche. haha are you seriously giving me s*** for suggesting the white sox would take homer bailey because they think coop can help? how many pitchers has coop helped? did i suggest signing every pitcher off the scrap heap so coop can fix them? homer bailey has talent, but has had trouble in the majors. is it that far fetched to believe he can be straightened out? i would agree with you if someone suggested coop will work a miracle for loaiza again, but with bailey? -
Rumors: Sox/Reds Talking Dye for Bailey Swap
Whitewashed in '05 replied to Dick Allen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2009 -> 04:05 PM) BP's take on Homer Bailey pre-2008: It's been around for less than 50 innings at the major league level, but Bailey's Ebby Calvin LaLoosh impression is aready starting to wear thin. In the movie, by the time "Nuke" reached the big leagues, he'd experienced some life lessons and gained some maturity. Bailey, on the other hand, appears disinterested to coaches and indifferent to opposing players-not the attitude you want to see from someone who still has a lot to learn about the craft of pitching. It's too soon to declare him the latest Texas schoolboy bust, but 2007 was a disappointment for a prospect who looked like he had the pure stuff to take the league by storm. Then came 2008. He's far from a sure thing. If he can't be in the Cincinatti Reds' rotation what makes him so desirable to fans of the White Sox? Don.Cooper.
