Gavin Floyd for Brian Roberts discussed
Whitewashed in '05 replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is all offseason talk. Stupid offseason talk at that. Not even speculation. If it was a young major league ready starting pitcher and Roberts for Gavin and more then it would sorta makes sense (BMac for Danks). This is just dumb. Obviously this guy doesn't realize the importance of Gavin to this team. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 2, 2009 -> 01:13 AM) Huh? All you do is open Windows Media center on your PC and you can pull anything from the folders on your PC. Im not really sure how that is considered alot of work. It automatically identifies any movies, songs, TV shows and photos on my PC. You can play them all in HD quality over the network connection without downloading anything. Yeah I know, but I'm one of those guys that's kinda anal about that stuff. I don't care for media center so I don't like being forced to use it. I'd just rather the PS3 see my shared folders open them and open whatever is in them without having to go through any other middlemen. I might not be making any sense, but that's what I was looking for.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 31, 2008 -> 11:24 AM) I rip my dvd's onto my pc then over my wireless connection save them to my PS3. I also saved about 20 epi's of entourage, a bunch of Family guy, lost, HIMYM, Always Sunny etc to my PS3 as well. I have multiple seasons of each one on there now and I can sort them by season. It plays at a very high quality as well which surprised me. Once again showing that the PS3 is a media center with tons of possibilities outside of just playing games and Blu-ray disks. I was a little disappointed. When I first got my PS3 I wanted to do something similar. Set up a media server, but then I realized the pain in the butt it would be to set up the media center in windows through media player and junk or download third party software... those aren't solutions I like. I modded my xbox1 a long time ago and use the media center software installed so all I have to do is connect to my shared folders and done! Play videos, pictures whatever straight from my computer. Which is what I wanted my PS3 to do. It sucks you either have to do their media center crap or copy everything to the hard drive.

My top 5 for 08 off the top of my head, in random order besides Q-Tip's. The only reason the rest are random is because there are a couple that were released recently and sometimes the longer I listen to an album the more I like it. I hope I didn't forget any... Q-Tip- Renaissance People Under the Stairs - FunDMC Ludacris - Theater of the Mind Lil Wayne - Carter 3 Rick Ross - Trilla Honorable Mention: The Cool Kids - The Bake Sale The only reason it wasn't in the top 5 and would've been in the top 2 is because most of the songs were already independently released, but this was their first official release. To anyone who is a fan of hip hop and never heard any of Cool Kids' music this is a great album. You have to be a fan of old school hip hop though. Disappointments of the Year: Kanye West's 808s and Heartbreaks Common's Universal Mind Control This was a different year in music for me. I listened to a lot of older rock for example Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains, etc.

QUOTE (IrishSoxFan @ Dec 24, 2008 -> 11:56 AM) I bought a 360 for Christmas, but I'm waiting til tomorrow to open it up I'm one of the few people in the country who has never played XBOX360 OR PS3 yet. Never. Never picked up a controller. So I'm pretty psyched. Wow, you're gonna love nex-gen consoles. ESPECIALLY if you have an HDTV.

Obsessed with (the lack of) Sox off-season moves?
Whitewashed in '05 replied to shipps's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I check soxtalk when I'm at home pretty often. If I'm using the computer for other things every 5 mins or so. If not then at least once an hour. If I'm not at home I check soxtalk on my phone every once in a while. This sounds as if I'm putting it lightly though... -
QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 12:43 PM) With all the talk about going young... possibly having two young guys in the rotation... debating their pros and cons... etc... I still think the odds are pretty high that we acquire/sign a veteran back of the rotation type before the season starts to fill one of the two openings. But it wouldn't surprise me at all if we went into spring training with the guys we've got... to see how the young guys handle the pressure of competing for spots. There was an interesting article on mlb.com the other day quoting Danks saying how much that helped him and prepared him for the rigors of the regular season. I could see that same thinking being part of KW's plan... put the young guys on the spot to see what they've got. If they step up... great. And if not, then do what's necessary to secure the back end of the rotation. The only problem with doing that is not many teams, if any, are willing to deal during spring training.

Cloverfield isn't really that good. It had it's enjoyable moments. One or two views is enough.

I'll throw in my 2 cents on Common since he's one of my favorite artists. UMC is not good. He said it's an album to make people dance, but he just isnt that rapper. Besides the 2 singles, there are only about 2 other decent songs on the album. As far as Electric Circus, I liked it. It had some real good songs on it. Kanye's album is the biggest disappointment of the year so much that UMC is better. Which isn't hard to say because 808s is just complete trash. It's an R&B album and I've noticed only people who like R&B like it. Ludacris' album is pretty good though. Better than both Common and Kanye's by far.

If he were to sign and we noticed there wasn't much of an improvement in ST we would be in the exact hole were in right now with no time and no teams willing to deal. Even if the sox started negotiations with him he shouldn't be the first option and since some teams probably will guarantee him a contract he wouldn't pick us anyway. The holes he'd be signed to plug are too important for us to roll the dice with.

Furcal Signs with Dodgers, not Braves
Whitewashed in '05 replied to Sox1422's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 09:33 PM) Wow, if true, doesnt look like the Braves will be working closely with Kinzer and his clients anytime soon. That is really bad on the agent, I kind of took that info as if Kinzer got a deal that he wanted, but didnt get really the final okay from Furcal yet but went ahead and agreed, and then Furcal said that he didnt want that deal, opting for the Dodgers. This should reinforce the importance of someone's word. Like Dye when turned down a greater offer after accepting the deal with KW. Lots of respect for that. -
QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Dec 16, 2008 -> 09:04 PM) f***ing snow. ^^

I am not a big fan of either, but I've stopped going to burger king. Tell me a location that's actually clean...

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 12:26 PM) I saw on another Sox fan website that the Chicago Tribune is reporting that DJ will be working with Ed Farmer. Anyone think this is a good idea.. I was hoping for someone like Black Jack to get the radio gig. Pratt did an interview with Black Jack and IIRC he said he wouldn't take on a full time booth job.

Ballpark adjusted performance for pitchers...see our
Whitewashed in '05 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Buehrle has said he doesn't see himself pitching long enough to win 300 games. He said even if he sustained success he might not make it to 200. I think that was when we re-signed him. Of course that could change seeing how much fun he has he might not want to give it up so easily like he said. Either way he's still underrated in the baseball world. You don't hear many baseball experts talking about him because he doesn't blow people away. -
Angels May Consider Trading For Dye or Paulie
Whitewashed in '05 replied to Kenny Hates Prospects's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm surprised no one has mentioned he's a boras client. Although that wouldn't matter much for another couple years. -
I only have 1. Tomorrow for C++... I'm going to bomb that. I hate programming.

I just signed up for Netflix. There's a bunch of TV series I've been wanting to see so I signed up. Especially since I'll have more time now since my last final is tuesday and its too damn cold outside!

That has to be one of the most embarrassing ways a boxer has ever gone out. Oscar is old and way past his prime. I knew for sure there was a good chance he was going to get beat down, but not this badly. It's more than an embarrassment. The way he lost for some reason makes me think he'll come back for another beat down "to prove to himself he's better than his last fight".
-
I still enjoy watching boxers I know fight so I'll make an effort to make a night out of it. I enjoy UFC too though. I've always been a big fan of De La Hoya even though he is past his prime.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 05:38 PM) True. More than one. The person below me has pissed or s*** himself in the last five years. False! Though I do know someone whose older than me who has... and they were sober. The person below me is going to watch the Oscar de la Hoya boxing match tomorrow night.

Question... and I may sound dumb for asking this, but why is everyone so sure JD is going to be traded?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 07:11 PM) Flowers and Lilli+another. Some are saying minor league arm, I've even heard a major league arm. Rotoworld is saying an arm from the pen, but I think that's just speculation.

So whose going to be in the 4th and 5th spots for us next season? Richard/Poreda for sure now, but I doubt both as we would have 4 lefties.

QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Dec 1, 2008 -> 08:22 PM) I always seem to get a bit of razor burn on my neck and have a tendency to get little zits around my chin below my lower lip. Any prevention suggestions? There are a couple things to prevent razor burn and stuff. The type of shaving cream you use. So you might want to try aveeno or neutrogena. Also, shaving after a hot shower or while in the shower also helps because it makes your skin soft. Make sure your razors aren't too old or aren't dirty. I was also told by my dermatologist to go up on the neck too, but that jacked me up REAL bad so... Shaving over the same spots over and over will worsen the burn so try to go through just once. I still can't avoid razor burn though so this is just to reduce it. Lotion also helps because it moisturizes the skin. So mixed results on the norelco huh...
