  1. This is gonna be a tough tough game. The only thing we can ask is for Richard to keep it close. If we get Lee out of the game in the 6th inning we have a chance although Lee has gotten deep into games all season long.
  2. Have you tried uninstalling Firefox, restart and downloading the latest version and reinstalling?
  3. QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 11:24 AM) That is an interesting comment. Should errors be determined by the individual player's talents? To a point yes. You won't give a gold glove caliber fielder an error if he misplays a ball that most fielders wouldn't have gotten, but he usually does. I know that's vague though. So for example you might not give Crede an error for not getting the out when the ball is scorched down the foul line and he doesn't get the runner after diving getting up and throwing it. So had CC came up with it cleanly, he would have a chance with a good throw to get the runner. The link below describes an official error. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/official_info/offic...l_scorer_10.jsp
  4. I believe it was an error because I have seen many plays like that where I think hit all the way and the throw just BARELY beats them. Then again I don't know how good CC's fielding is. If he normally makes that play then it's an error.
  5. QUOTE (Yoda @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 01:07 PM) I was posting in the MLB message boards when someone posted a link to Soxtalk. I took a good while to look at the board and came to the conclusion that this place was more colorful and not as callous as other places had been. I mean, this was a time when message boards were something new to me in the Internet world. Theforce.net and Soxtalk were the place to go for my daily dose of posting. Of course, the people that are in it is what I think gets people to be a part of it(in this case, Soxtalk). Posters like Brando and Juggernaut always seemed to have something of value to say. IMO, they would put the time and effort in each of their posts. They would get flamed, for reasons that I will probably never understand, but all in all they were here because of their love for the White Sox. And, of course, you then had posters like Jeckle (who is hopefully doing progress in Anger Management). Just to bring back some of those early memories, how about the time we had Billy Koch as our closer? You could give that guy a five-run lead and he would still find a way to keep us screaming at him through the television screen. Rushing to the computer to see the reaction of this place was never short of thrilling. LOL I do that now sometimes.
  6. QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 10:46 AM) BlackJack was one of those pitchers that pitched just well enough to win. In fact, he's the one example I use when I run into that argument that W's is a bad stat to judge a pitcher by. BlackJack was the exception to that rule. He was the type of pitcher that when he didn't have his best stuff and the game was close, he'd battle his ass off. He was also the type that if he had a 5 run lead, he'd come right after a hitter and if that guy hit one out, so be it. ERA be damned, Jack McDowell was a winner in every sense of the word. So Sweaty Freddy was like Black Jack?
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 08:17 PM) Gavin is rapidly becoming our stopper. "Eight of Floyd's wins have come after White Sox losses this season." From the article about todays win on whitesox.com Link I was also thinking the same thing before I read the article. Gavin has really done a solid job this year.
  8. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 08:21 PM) Is anyone else having their firefox crash when they go to whitesox.com? Do a disk cleanup and clear all private data. If that doesn't work download and install CCleaner and run it.
  9. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 04:27 PM) Crede will be a Type B free agent, he's done enough this year to earn that rating. If he's offered arb the Sox will get a sandwich pick. Griffey will also be a Type B free agent, the Sox will decline his option but offer him arbitration (yes, you can do that) which he will hopefully decline and the Sox will get a sandwich pick for him. Is Cinci going to fork over the cash to buyout Jr's option?
  10. I hope he was on a good conditioning program in the offseason to help him with the long mlb season. One thing to remember why he was getting slapped around last season late was everyone knew if he couldn't locate his curve he was a 2 pitch pitcher so they would just sit on the fastball when up in the count. While searching for his minor league stats look at what I found. http://www.minorleagueball.com/story/2007/3/30/15730/4086
  11. It annoys me when teachers make the class introduce themselves to everyone or when they assign seats which I've encountered a couple times which I think is crap at this level. I'm not anti-social, but it isn't like I'm going to remember everyones name in my class or better yet what their interests are in the class. I know the teachers usually do it so they can remember the students, but still... I'm especially alert of my surroundings these days at the beginning of the semester with so many people and the possible grudge that students my be holding because of bad grades handed out the previous semester.
  12. I posted on the MLB board for a while before I found this site by searching for white sox forums or something on yahoo. I lurked around for about a year before I decided to register. I couldn't tolerate the MLB board anymore with some bad sox fan posters dominating the board. I used the screen name ChiSoxFan on that mlb board. While this board could be negative and tiring at times it's still better than visiting those troll filled boards.
  13. I thought we were playing a game not batting practice...
  14. Big time props to Gavin. 14 wins!?!? so far. He's gotten the job done this year especially when we needed him. Early on in the season when only him and Danks were having good games and now in a tight race. Great job on the offense as well giving Gavin some room to work.
  15. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 07:06 AM) 35 HR & 100 RBI. Too bad he missed a month, it could easily be 43-44 HR & 125 RBI at the pace he is on. Someone's going to give him a chance next season.
  16. I knew we needed a leadoff hitter so when we dealt for him I wasn't worried yet. Then when KW said he was part of a bigger plan I waited and then we got Gooch, AJ, and Hermy!!!!
  17. QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 12:11 PM) Yeah, the Sox sure looked great against crappy teams like the A's, Royals, and Mariners. But they need to play at least .500 ball against the good teams. And their bullpen is an absolute mess right now. They need to step up and make a statement against the Rays and Red Sox. I agree, and they have today and tomorrow vs the Rays to prove they can beat them. We took 2/4 from the red sox and should have taken 3 with Danks' performance. Carassco has been a savior in a way. He's been doing really good. Dotel had a bad game, but I would throw him out there today if we needed him again (not just because we don't have many other options). Jenks is fine. I understand our bullpen has its problems, but there isn't one playoff team that's perfect.
  18. They have been playing great with the exception of yesterday. Dotel for the most part has been great this season. The sky isn't falling, the sox are only .5 games back.
  19. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Aug 20, 2008 -> 02:40 PM) This is ridiculous. It is. I can't believe CQ is 0-2!!!!
  20. If Crede is truly healthy I want him to get as many AB's as possible. I'll take a healthy Crede over Uribe any day so if we start building a lead I want Crede ready for the playoffs.
  21. QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 11:09 PM) Ozzie being Ozzie. Does anyone actually know what is the status with Crede? He has been sent to Charlotte for rehab, played one game and pain came back, he hasn't played since? The latest mailbag says there is still no timetable, but one thing they do know is that he will be out longer than Linebrink who is getting better... which means he could be out for the rest of the regular season. That's why Ozzie isn't even thinking about him.
  22. 2 walks for Uribe in the same game? When was the last time that happened?
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 08:35 PM) I don't know if I've ever seen a manager bring in a new pitcher and then have the new pitcher start off with the intentional walk. Either Ozzie has done it once or someone playing the sox did it once. I can't remember, but I do remember the announcers saying its very unusual because you normally want that new pitcher focused on throwing strikes.
  24. Roy Halladay with his 8th CG this year... wow
