I notice that Vinnie Pasquantino isn't in the Royals starting lineup tonight. I'll always have a soft spot for him, as he was a great mentor for Sam A., with Team Italy, during the World Baseball Classic.

Mighty Mite, you touch on a great point there. Win or lose, MULTIPLE guys will have done either really good things (some big, some seemingly small), or really unfortunate things, as the case may be, to land either in the W column or the L column by game's end. These guys seem to carry the ongoing realization that, win or lose, they do it as a TEAM. I love the way they support one another, and don't seek to pin individual blame when things go badly (that's OUR job, hahahahaha!).

I too hope for something great for Jacob today; he's such an unassuming, non-hotdog kid, and it would be fantastic if things clicked for him. One thing we learned about Brooke last night: she has a very nice singing voice ("Nationwide is on your side...") 🎵

So what was it, zero-for-eleven with runners in scoring position between yesterday and today? I know I sure couldn't do any better, but doggone, that's gotta be so frustrating for the guys.

I'm going to stick my neck out here and predict that the Sox are going to unleash a huge barrage of hitting tomorrow and even up this series.

SB, that sounds like a great plan! Years ago I would have been ALL IN for that "several beverages during a rain delay" scenario, but I got into a lot of problems with the alcohol, so I became a tea drinker about 17 years ago. However, I hope your outing will be super fun, and that you'll get to see a winner!

Good point, BH. Look at Sam, for instance. Tuesday he was 0-4, and yesterday 4-4. Every outing isn't going to be sensational. But I like the trend that we see, where the guys tend to pick each other up.

Hahahaha! Sam had a rough day at the plate, so it's great that he was able to contribute defensively.

I'd love to see Acuna have things go his way today, maybe even do something heroic!

I agree, chitownsportsfan. I'll admit this is the first time I'd ever heard a Husker Du song. Looks like they formed in 1979 in Minneapolis, and this one was released around 1985? As I've aged (just turned 73), I've gained greater appreciation for the groups (like this one) that opted to go with just a guitar, a bass, and drums. Something down-to-earth about that-- just keeping things straightforward and staying out of each other's way. I feel really lucky to have been an adolescent and young adult during the decade spanning approximately 1965-1975, when the music world was just exploding with all kinds of new artists and groups. My favorite was always Chicago, as I idolized their guitar player, Terry Kath. I have three brothers, and, along with three of our high school buddies, we formed a band with a three-piece brass section. Kept it going for ten years, playing mostly high school dances and wedding receptions. We tried our best to emulate that Chicago "rock band with horns" sound. A little associated trivia: I first found out about the birth of Sam A.'s dad (the latter being my nephew) while our band was rehearsing at our house for the annual "Garden Party Dance" at our church. Sorry to have wandered off-topic, guys!

Thank you, hi8is, that is greatly appreciated. I do realize that I'm going to have a natural tendency to stick up for family, but I also realize that everyone has the right to express themselves freely. Sometimes it's going to be positive, and other times it's going to be more critical, but it all comes from a foundation of caring for all the guys and wanting them to succeed. Sometimes those "jinxed" games just happen, but isn't it great that we've been given a brand new day?!!

Yes, it's a loss. No one's an idiot. Sometimes things just don't go the way we want them to. And regarding Sam Antonacci, I'll just offer this: (Full Disclosure: I'm Sam's great-uncle, so it's certainly fair to factor that bias into the following.) 1) Bottom of 1st, Sam leads off with a hit-by-pitch, steals second, and is then completely stranded out there by all three of "the big boys" in the 2, 3 and 4 slots. How nice would it have been to have that run? 2) Bottom of 10th, Sam gets an infield single to move ghost runner Acuna over to third with only one out. We all know what happened after that, unfortunately, but we need to at least give him credit for setting the stage for the possible walk-off win. 3) On the unfortunate inning-ending double play, it looked to me like Sam, being behind the first baseman, had no line of sight to tell whether Mune's low liner was caught on the fly, or on a short hop. I have no clue what his "best move" would have been in that split-second, but under the circumstances I don't think it's fair to classify the actions he took as "being an idiot on the bases." 4) Tomorrow's a brand new day, and this will all be a distant memory! Go Sox!
