  1. I'm just afraid the Sox AB approach outside of Thome and sometimes PK sets up for the D-Train to dominate
  2. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 11:59 AM) It's not as if I wasn't gonna watch, but this just made it more so that I would watch. yeah, that would be crazy... again, not sure if it's true, but I've seen it a few places
  3. McCarver on Saturday said he doesn't think Frank will get into the HOF, is that the national perception of him? I thought with the steroid era he'd get in
  4. http://mmamadness.com/insight/news/3936 this isn't a site I'm use to, but I've seen the rumor numerous places, so I'm linking this one... apparently Roy Nelson and Wes Simms are on the next season of TUF... if so, Roy Nelson has to be the big fav. Looks like the UFC stacked TUF to build people's awareness of some of the fighters so if they don't win it they can keep them around and stock up the HW div a little
  5. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 11:38 PM) Did anyone else find the whole David Duchovny experience uncomfortable to watch? he's always kind of odd on talk shows and I think last night he played it up a little too much. Watch the episodes of Larry Sanders when he's on, obvously it's fictional, but I heard it's a playoff of his real personality.
  6. if they hover around 5 games out KW won't go the fire sale route, it's not his MO. If anything he'd try and add a vet
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 09:27 PM) You play him regardless. Let's face it...if we can't count on Beckham in the next 3-5 years, then this entire rebuilding of the farm system is destined to fail. maybe, or if necessary you send him back to work on specific things. He's what 22? A short stretch in the majors shouldn't define his career
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox420* @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 09:26 PM) Alexei was 5-9 today great to see June could be his break out month.... BTW Soto sucks who needs a ROY!!!! Dye also 5-9
  9. awesome win... I never thought they were going to show up the way they did... I am very pleased!
  10. everytime I think I'm out, they pull me back in! Shocked how they came out today and I appreciate it! Great to see Count only give up one walk
  11. I posted this late in the other thread, so I'll post here because more eyes are likely to see it, but is Edmonds retired or waiting for a call? I'm not saying he would be a great saviour of the season, but better than Wise
  12. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 04:33 PM) I still don't understand why Fields threw to 1st on that one play with the bases loaded and 2 outs. He had all day to run and tag 3rd and get the easy safe out, yet he threw to 1st. It's an easy throw, but you gotta be smart and take the easy and safest out, especially in a crucial situation like that. However, it all worked out, so I won't look too deep into it. Hey, I'm still waiting for the awesome defense Alexei is supposed to play at SS. Yes he makes an occasional awesome play, but I'm not seeing anything special play to play
  13. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 04:29 PM) I love the fact Count is gonna stay up after today, even if he gets shelled. He has no trade value and he can't pitch out of the pen... I suppose we'll see Richard move back to pen... sigh. I know how important DJ has been to the pen, but the Sox have to have serious discussions on whether or not he should be starting
  14. OK, if Beck is really starting, I pull a little back about what I said about Oz, but just a little
  15. QUOTE (Chet Lemon @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 04:27 PM) I'm not where most of you are yet, but if this team is 5 or more games out at the end of the month, would a firesale make sense? Would Tampa overpay to get one of our bullpen guys? or the NYY to set up Mariano or the Cubs, or many other teams. Hell, if Dye stays anywhere close to what he's at, someone would trade for a bat
  16. I would have never said this in ST, but is Edmonds officially retired? I'm not saying he would be some magical saviour, but he would be an upgrade to Wise
  17. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 04:23 PM) Yes! Let the flood gates of hell open. This place is about to get ugly. We have the WORST manager in all of baseball, and a GM whose afraid to stand up to him. GOOD COMBO! this is what's scary, Swisher got dumped because Ozzie didn't like him and now Beckham is just rotting on the bench because Ozzie didn't want him up here. Honestly, Beck should be the one going back down when they reactivate the Count because he needs regular ABs
  18. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 04:21 PM) Whose side would the fans take? I hate Ozzie, and I hate Kenny. They both suck at their jobs. I honestly would just sit back and laugh as this team disappears into oblivion. It's almost all over now... I would take KW's in a nano second...
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 04:21 PM) And to think we were in the playoffs a few months ago. Because Danks and Floyd pitched like madmen
  20. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 04:15 PM) Lineups posted: Podsednik Ramirez Thome Konerko Dye Nix Getz Castro Anderson No Beckham. you 100% have to be kidding me!!! This is an F you from Ozzie to KW, even after KW likely dumped Swisher for nothing because Ozzie didn't like him. I think we may see the first Oz/KW public blow-up very soon, hopefully KW just demotes him at this point, he needs to get regular ABs, and if Oz is going to be a baby, then it has to be at AAA
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 04:10 PM) There's zero reason to trade for Pierre with Pods playing as well as he has...unless you can replace Colon with a significant upgrade, assuming they don't believe that's Poreda in 2009, then there's just not really any way to compete with the depth of the Tigers' starting rotation. Not to mention they have a better offense and a decent bullpen this year, too. Even if CQ was out the entire season, there would be no reason to trade for Juan Pierre. We need someone like Dunn (gasp!) to pick up the offensive slack, not another punch-and-judy hitter well past his prime. oh, I'm not saying there's a reason or it would make any sense, but he's "grindy" and "fast"
  22. QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 04:07 PM) That's what I've been saying for the last few days. I'd rather him trade our stars for prospects rather than our prospects for stars. It's gonna get ugly in the farm system again if we somehow end up taking 4 of 5 from the Tigers. I think 3 of 5 would do it, especially if the Twins don't do anything over that stretch and the Sox somehow find themselves in 2nd place after the series. He'll also have 4 new guys after tomorrow to justify trading prospects. (I know you can't trade those guys, heck you have to sign them, but he might see more flex down there after tomorrow) I'm not too afraid of 3 or 4 of 5, they may get 1
  23. the Tigers have to love that Bonderman gets to comeback against this Sox lineup. Outside of Thome nobody on this team works the count and makes a pitcher work on a consistent basis. I'm afraid this might make the 20-1 game look like a trip to Disneyland.
  24. my biggest fear is in 2-3 weeks when Manny comes back and Pierre starts grumbling about riding the bench KW trades for him. I will flip OUT if KW wastes the payroll flexability on Pierre, absolutely go ape.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 04:02 PM) KW better stick up for Beckham, because the way Ozzie has been handling him in the press is pathetic so far. I think we might get our first public KW/Ozzie argument soon, I think KW and the Org have done things to make Ozzie happy and now this team is falling flat on its face. Only glimmer of hope is this team is largely off the books after next year, so it's not like they're locked into this roster for years
