Tickets for tomorrows game at TicketMaster
SoxFan562004 replied to quade36's topic in Pale Hose Talk
this is pretty common for any big event, be it sporting or a concert. Usually the day before or the day of if it's a night time thing ticketmaster releases blocks of unusued promotional tickets, or with a concert they hold some back for setup and then release. They are usually very good seats -

QUOTE (G&T @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 04:42 PM) He does. The players just don't execute most of the time. Today was a day when guys executed, and, of course, that makes the manager look smart. Also with Thome in the lineup it's harder/more of a risk to do those things. The pitcher and no DH make for a different style of game, against AL lineups in the Cell you don't want to get cute and give up outs. Maybe with the way they are hitting at home this year mixing some more in isn't a horrible idea.

I've been battling ridiculous hunger lately. I've been eating what I normally eat, but am absolutely starving at points. I'm going to get a protein drink which should help, but anybody have suggestions on a healthy snack outside of fruit ( I already eat a fair amount)

Artie Lange vs. Joe Buck's on JB's Live HBO show

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 04:37 PM) thanks for the heads up... im going to listen to it now. Howard needs to fire BTLS and hire Adam to his channels. Adam turned the Jackie chair down before it was given to Artie, they've actually discussed it in the last few months. Adam didn't want to move to NY or have an off schedule, and also he got paid a truckload of money to do the morning show in LA. I like your idea about Adam on the channels though, I was thinking if Howard retires after 2010 (and as a HUGE fan for years, I think it's probably time) that Adam would be a good fit on satellite. -
Look at Kentucky, I believe the town across the river is Covington. They have a bus to the game from some of the hotels

Have to love Soriano assuming nobody would ever run on him. I know the scouting report says be careful running on him, but it doesn't mean he should just assume nobody will ever run on him ever. At least he's making it up at the plate /green! Have to love Len Kasper not giving Jenks any credit for the K of Milton Bradley

Excellent win. Good to see them take the 6 walks from Dempster. Danks was awesome!

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 12:08 AM) Not a chance. His BABIP is .424. There's just no way that's going to hold over the course of a season (or in Mauer's case, 5 months). .350 is much more realistic. thanks for posting the BABIP, I was just going to look at that. Yeah, with it being .424, I'm in the no camp. Obviously he's a hell of a player and will continue to be for a long time, but I don't see .400, at least not this year

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 12:04 PM) Things like this never cross my mind. The cubs dont gave a damn if I give them 20-40 bucks once a year. If I paid to walk in the door, Im not going to starve or abstain from drinking beer because of the stadium I am in. exactly, I don't mind going to a Cubs game 1-2 times a year. Usually I get to go for free on friends who have season tickets, but I'll pay too. The stadium is a dump, but it's MLB and I love baseball. Also, I like going to the bars around there and making a day of it. I don't feel Sox guilt or anything, I just enjoy it

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 11:02 AM) here's the thing... I think that this is ultimately where radio is going. Its cheaper and as the technology gets better I think internet radio will become more prominent. This particular internet radio station was done really poorly and headed by a crook, thus it had very little chance for success. I agree with you that that's the future, heck, between satellite and the Adam Carolla podcast, I barely listen to a radio I tune into, I just think they were a little ambitious and as it turns out maybe a little crooked. I'm a fan of Hood and hope he can find something -
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 11:57 AM) This is a silly enough question but I know some people who love beer like me will chime in. The expensive ticket I bought directly from cubs-- that helps them get free agents with my $. But at least i'm going and cheering my team and trying to bring some kind of positive pro-sox atmosphere to the game. But if I buy anything from concessions, i'm just pointlessly padding the team's ability to afford free agents. Granted i'm just one person, but if every sox fan buys stuff there, it helps them financially in their busiest midweek early game series. Should i abstain? Go to the game and have fun. If that means buying a beer or two, go ahead and do it

ha, Waddel and Silvy just launched Bruce Levine because he came on and whined that they didn't play his opening and talked about news that the Broncos will try to appease Marshall and trade him. Silverman just cut him off and ended his segment

I was directed here from the catch-all thread about this topic. I'm basically a moderate, if any labels need to be applied I'm a social democrat and a governmental republican. This is not a political issue for me at all. I'm actually a big Letterman fan, but I thought the joke was ridiculously in bad taste and the Palin's have every right to be outraged. Are they taking it too far by labeling him a child molester and the like? Yes, but I think Letterman should be called out. It's totally irresponsible that Letterman and his writing staff wrote that joke then put it on the air. It would have been in bad taste if it was about her "legal" daughter, but it's horrible that it was about a 14 year old girl. As for the Palin's letting other jokes about their kids go in the past, well they shouldn't of and they are being a little hypocritical, but in no way shape or form does that excuse Letterman. Also, I'm not easily offended. I was a public defender for 2 years, and the type of dark humor that is floated around that type of office is very dark. This joke struck a horrible chord with me, maybe because I've been involved in cases with sexual abuse to minors.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 08:27 AM) Yea, verily, this has been denoted in the Holy Book of Partisan Grievances and therefore belongs in the Filibuster. lol, I put it here because it's actually not a political stance for me, I'm moderate and voted for Obama, I just actually can take a republicans side on something!
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 08:22 AM) There's a whole big discussion of this topic in the "Republican" thread in the Filibuster forum. Actually, we should probably break it out of the generic thread into its own, but just FYI, its there. thanks, I will
-
I'm probably going to come off real square for having this position, but I tend to side with the Palin's in their "feud" with Letterman. I'm a Letterman fan and I do think the Palin's may be taking it a little far, but Letterman's research staff really dropped the ball by not realizing it was her 14 year old daughter at the Yankee game.

for the LAA, Santana to skip a start with some arm pain and Escobar to the DL

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 10:36 AM) Didn't the Twins only have 7 road wins before this series? They were 9-20 on the road coming into the series
-
By watching the media tonight I learned that avoiding a sweep by a horrible road team who was starting a SP with an ERA over 5 and getting the winning run against a terrible reliever all while scoring 3 whole runs means all problems are solved!

http://www.f4wonline.com/content/view/9635/ Meltzer is saying that Cro Cop hasn't officially signed with anyone yet and is attempting to use his one fight deal with the UFC as leverage in negotiations. Basically his agent told Dream he was going there before the fight so in case he lost he had a fallback, now that he won nothing is official. I don't think this will work and Dana and Zuffa will probably pull all offers off the table, I can't see them allowing themselves to be used like this. One fight deals are uncommon for the UFC and I don't see one of the few times they do it backfiring on them.

very good game and series for the Sox. MB brought the bat and some good timely hitting by others. Great to see the pen shut it down today

black jack on white sox, beckham handling

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 01:40 PM) I heard Stone was defending Black Jack... and I'd hardly call what McDowell wrote as stupidity. On the game today he agreed with Hawk, it wasn't like he sat there and didn't say anything, he actively agreed with the Hawk about it and I believe he was the one who pointed out that Beckham has basically played all but one or two games since he's been here. -
Cubs fire hitting coach Gerald Perry and replace him with Von Joshua.

QUOTE (qwerty @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 03:45 PM) Intellectually soxtalk has gone way downhill. I want to voice my opinion, but to be frank, practically everything i read currently is garbage. I find no point in taking my time to voice my opinion just to have it skipped over because people would rather b**** and moan due to their personal lives sucking. Well guess what? So does mine. I'm personally not gonna take it out on hundreds of random people, because i have enough sense to know they could care less. You should too. I'm not sure if soxtalk will ever recover, which pisses me off like no other. Soxtalk is not my homepage because i hate it, just some of the people that reside here. I didn't leave for as long as i did because i wanted to be gone, i was forced. good post. I think people's desire to try and be alternative comedians and political commentators in every section of the board is what has hurt too.
