  1. don't underestimate the recovery factor for in PEDs. Players who use them probably feel alot better and sharper in that 4th AB on the 7th game in 7 days
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 05:29 PM) On another subject, Captain Cheeseburger was pulled after 1 1/3 inning today against the Marlins. Injury currently not disclosed. bicep stiffness, listed as day-to-day
  3. I like California, but as someone pointed out above, especially in this economy, make sure you nail down a job. You don't want to move out there, eat through savings then have to move back right away. If you do, then give it a shot. It's a different world out there, I've never lived there, but with family out there have spent long stretches of time out there. Biggest neg to me is the traffic. It can't be overstated how bad it is. It's nothing for a 10 minute drive to turn into 45+ at ANY time of day. I think the biggest difference is the laid back lifestyle out there. It's a different culture. I happen to have that type of personality so I like it, I know it drives some other people crazy
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 09:52 AM) Seriously. I'd much rather have Poreda pitch than Linebrink. They have to start pitching Poreda more often or send him back down IMO, he needs regular work. Anybody hear if they have him on a more rigid throwing schedule than other BP guys?
  5. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 10:33 AM) mickelson is gonna win this thing It's Phil at the U.S. Open, he has legendary collapses and comes through again. It's why Johnny Miller is one the best commentators in sport, while the other announcers were openly cheering for him Miller pointed out that he put up 2 bogeys for absolutely no reason
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 21, 2009 -> 02:52 PM) I kind of like the younger speedier guys over the old boppers; how about you guys? I like them too, but playing 81 games a year at the cell they would be foolish not to have one or two boppers in the lineup, even if they're slow, but it makes for a great mix when you have both
  7. herges stops the bleeding, Tribe would be wise to get a run or two
  8. 7-6 2 outs runners on 1st and 3rd... that BP is a complete joke
  9. Brandon Webb had his BP session scratched today. GM said because "he didn't feel good." On MLBN one of the guys, either Heyman or Verducci, mentioned he's unhappy with Arizona and won't rush back
  10. LOL at Cliff Lee's reaction to Derrick Lee's HR, it was totally wind blown and C Lee threw his arms up and rolled his eyes. Lee's at 90+ pitches and the wind is blowing out, with the Tribe pen, this could get interesting at 7-2
  11. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 03:14 PM) Harden looks like horse poo out there only a 98 ERA+ coming into today, outside of about 2 starts he hasn't been very good at all this year... http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/harderi01.shtml however, as a post or two above said this game isn't over, the Cle bullpen is like all Linebrinks
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 01:53 PM) I'm back on the Chris Young bandwagon. June splits: .276/.400/.569/.969. Also 7/7 in SB attempts. he left yesterday with an injury, any update?
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 03:03 PM) Jack McDowell. hopefully he runs into Ozzie and KW and there's a tape rolling
  14. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 19, 2009 -> 03:01 PM) No Hawk tonight. Is he OK, who do we get?
  15. I was apparently in a coma when DeRosa had a HOF career or won a world series with the Cubs, the hack fans are treating him like he's Griffey coming back to Seattle. Oh well, it's funny because it's a gigantic FU to Hendry
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 05:17 PM) I would do anything I can to get rid of Konerko and his salary. With his thumb issues and seemingly diminished bat speed, he's not going to put up the power necessary to be making as much as he is. PK's contract isn't as burdensome next year since others are going away. I agree that if you can move it, probably not a bad idea, but KW and the org has done a good job, and gotten a little lucky, so there's nothing crippling after this year
  17. Chewbacca threw out a first pitch at a, I believe, Red Sox game a few years ago, it was awesome.
  18. QUOTE (rangercal @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 05:08 PM) cats and dogs smell too. Hell, most people smell to me. Of course not to themselves. Regardless, I have glade timer sprays all around my house. the odd thing about my dog is he is the most neutral smelling animal I have ever come across. Now the downside to that is it's because he sheds all the time so the fur doesn't stick on him, but we've had people over when he was boarded for big parties and people are suprised when they see the dish and they point out our house doesn't have a dog smell at all
  19. one dog. A border collie/terrier mix... a little high strung, but an awesome personality and was a breeze to train. Had a beagle growing up.
  20. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 05:02 PM) I'm not saying it's bad -- but I'm a very big advocate of "in moderation". I can drink diet coke or regular coke -- doesn't matter which, regular beer or light beer, again, doesn't matter which. It's not about drinking weird chemicals (diet coke) or calories and sugar (beer/regular coke), it's about not over doing it, and the same concept applies to what we eat. There is nothing wrong with a slice of pizza, but when a person eats 8, there is. I say exercise, be active, and eat what you want -- but eat responsibly -- and be consistent. And I'm not talking a year of consistency, but a lifetime of it, which is the hard part, moderation makes this easier if handled responsibly. Still, people tend to "over do it", and when I say that, it applies to either side of the spectrum (eating too poorly or too well), the same result ends up happening in the end. If all you do is eat healthy, light, fat free foods -- a day will come when you 'blow up' and toss that diet to the curb. In moderation... Believe me, it works. I pretty much do that, I actually don't follow a "diet" because I agree with you that if you get on a strict "fad" diet it's hard to maintain. I was heavy in HS, like 260, then I dropped to like 180, but I was rail, almost sickly looking thin. I'm only 6 foot, but I just way heavy, I have a big frame, so 180 is about as skinny as I could have gotten. I'm 30 now and for the past few years I hover around 200-210, and that's with a good amount of muscle. I enjoy my life and if it gets too far I am able to buckle down
  21. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 04:59 PM) As of this moment, are we still sellers? I think so because we have the toughest schedule left. knowing KW and this org, anywhere from 4-6 at the deadline will not make them sellers. The only way I could see a piece moving if they are "in it" is if they get blown away by an offer, say The Count continues to pitch well and a bidding war between 2-3 teams starts, then I could see a move. That could actually happen because they won't trade Danks, Floyd or MB, probably not Richard unless it's for another SP as part of a package and the SP trade market is very shallow, especially with Peavy out for a long time.
  22. Anyone been to a World Cup before? If so what is it like? My friends went to the one in Germany and are planning on going to South Africa next year, I love to travel and thinking of joining them. I am not a huge soccer fan, follow the EPL a little on the FSC, but I can appreciate basically any sport played at its highest level. Are they run well? Is it a cluster F? Is it fun or uncomfortable in the stands? Any thoughts would be appreciated
  23. QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 11:28 AM) I kind of agree...but it still blows away anything else on radio. I've been listening to the Score more lately, due to baseball, and the commercials are non-f***ing-stop. There is hardly any programming. I agree, it's still an entertaining show and between that show, the music stations on satellite and Carolla's podcast I barely listen to radio. I will at night, either Dan Patrick's show on the Score on Jason Smith on ESPN 1000, he's a national guy and kind of lame, but in a charming way
  24. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 04:41 PM) No, I couldn't blame you after reading that "light yogurt, light cheese, light this, fat free that" thing I just read. actually a lot of the stuff is good... I'm not one of those "you can't tell the difference guys" but the stuff is good and I have to watch it because I have have low metabolism and even with all the working out I do I put weight on easily. (With that said I have my pigout days) Thanks for the tips guys, I've tried the almonds and they work great and will try the others so there's some variety
  25. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 01:23 AM) 1:30 AM and 86 degrees outside. Summertime! lol, slightly jealous because I love me some heat, but that sounds like the days are nasty! Going to see a fun coverband at Elk Grove Fest or something like that tonight. Band is called 7th Heaven, real fun band. (Note: I am not related to the band in any way shape or form, so this isn't shamless plugging, just seen them a few times and fun to see)
