  1. Per Dana White's twitter, he said he and Tito made up but points out it doesn't mean he's back in the UFC. I had heard he signed with Strikeforce, but nothing official, since it comes down to $$ I wouldn't be shocked if he's back in the UFC at some point
  2. It seems to me, as others have pointed out, that the Jays are chumming the waters a lot. I think they're calling with high demands and getting very little back in constructive offers. I still expect him to get moved though, I think they may relent on the negotiation window, that may help a team make the move. I feel that if they don't move him before the deadline and try to trade him in the deadline they lose on two fronts, first, you lose a stretch run out of him if you trade for him in the offseason instead of now and if Peavy bounces back from his injury where teams feel comfortable enough to trade for him durring the offseason, there's another quality starter on the market
  3. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 03:17 PM) [/b] That wont happen. Which ever team trades for Halladay is likely going to ink him to an extension shortly after. Its kind of interesting how ESPN and Foxsports are stating the White Sox being in on the Halladay sweepstakes. . I wonder if they have someone on the inside? And if Poreda, Richard, Flowers and Viciedo wont be 'enough' to aqcuire Halladay, i want nothing to with the guy. It could be leaks within the Blue Jays if they want to make it seem like many teams are involved, and with agressive as KW is, I have no doubt he's at least picked up the phone
  4. ESPN.com is saying the Heat offered Odom 35m for 5. Similar money to the Lakers per year, but 2 more years. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4336149 I still think he goes back to LA, but if he doesn't, do you think the Lakers were better off with Ariza/Odom or Artest? Gut reaction to me is Artest, but I'm open to changing that opinion
  5. I love Halladay, but giving up that much is shooting yourself in the foot
  6. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jul 17, 2009 -> 11:05 AM) There was a Mythbusters episode were they debunked each and every myth that supposedly "proves" that the moon landing was fake. yeah, there's also a great show they ran on TLC or Discovery debunking the 9/11 conspiracy points too. It's excellent. Dr. Drew, I believe on Stern, gave some of the psychosis behind people who believe in these elaborate conspiracies... I'll try and find some quotes, but basically he said a lot, not all, are people who were let down by people of authority when they were younger, so many can't trust the government. Again, I don't think everyone who believes these things are flawed or anything like that. People are free to have their opinion and I respect that, so please note I am not attacking anyone
  7. QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 03:37 PM) I just saw on Rotoworld that Pedro is scheduled to take a physical for the Phils. I imagine they'd be less interested in Halladay if Pedro signs. on Mike & Mike this morning, Ken Rosenthal said the Pedro signing will not effect their position on Halladay
  8. QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 01:06 PM) This is disgraceful and an abuse of the need for bankruptcy. I cant see with the cash flow they have how their creditors can get screwed so they could be sold. I've never practiced bankruptcy law, but trying to remember back to my law school class, I believe a judge can deny it pretty early in the process if she thinks it's an obvious attempt to abuse the system. Bankruptcy judges are usually hard asses
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 12:29 PM) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shawn_johnson January 19, 1992 (1992-01-19) (age 17) in IL the age of consent is 17
  10. The announcers have pointed it out, and I think someone in an earlier post, but Aramis Ramirez is nowhere near healthy
  11. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 02:26 PM) I love Lesnar. I cant stand that d-bag Mir. Mir talked a lot of crap about Lesnar since the day the first fight was signed. Mir was a broken man after last night and he knows he has nothing for Lesnar. Most MMA fans cant get over the fact that the best UFC heavyweight is a former WWE wrestler. I wish Lesnar would have talked even more s*** about Mir. Hendo is awesome. That post fight interview saying he knew Bisping was out but still wanted one more shot was great. Hopefully this will shut Bisping's mouth for good. I want to see a Silva/Henderson rematch now. Henderson is the only guy who is a threat to Silva at 185. I dont see how Belcher got robbed. I had Aki winning 29-28 but it could have also gone 29-28. Too close to call it a robbery but that one judge who had it 30-27 was smoking crack. GSP was dominant but is becoming boring IMO. Ever since Serra KOed it seems GSP fights very cautious. He seems to be getting the mentality to fight not to lose. Likes to get top position and just play safe. Also sounded like GSP is ducking Anderson when Rogan asked him about that and GSP replied with saying he wanted to stay at 170 because its so deep. HAHA, deep? Who is at 170? I hope it was a joke when Goldie was saying that the Kampmann/Swick winner is next in line. Fitch looked alright but it was a borefest. Maybe it had to do with no one caring since it came after the main event. Coleman baby! $$$$ agree with that, could have gone either way, but Akiyama got the nod, there have been far worse decisions in MMA than that.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 02:24 PM) Yep, bringing in Wellemeyer in a one run game basically sealed the game for the Cubs. This is shaping up to be just a terrible day heading into the All-Star Break. They have a whole game left with Wainright (sp?) starting for the Cards
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 10:26 AM) No i loved it. The score had people calling and complaining about it, but I think brock is the heel champ everyone wanted to appear. exactly, the MMA boards are going ape over him too, which is exactly what he wanted. Now the UFC can have him fight whoever they want and it will draw huge money, with the ultimate payoff being if they can land Fedor in the next year or so, that way if Fedor beats him he is instantly a huge star to the casual MMA fan. I enjoy this. Also, Henderson is God.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 08:58 AM) Even though he lacked class from start to finish, Brock Lesnar had the best post-fight interview ever. a vast majority of that is Lesnar's WWE experience showing. He knows how much money can be in a heel champ being chased by a fan favorite contender. He is playing this up perfectly. Zuffa has to be doing back flips over him right now, they are in the position to make a ton of money with him
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 04:55 PM) And just think about all the crap this board gives KW. In just two short years we went from a team that had zero young/impact talent at both the major and minor league levels to CQ, Ramirez, Danks, Floyd, Beckham, Poreda, Danks2, Flowers, Viciedo, ect. Best FA signing in team history (Dye)? That's KW. How about turning the bust that was Joe Borchard into arguably the most dominant LH RP in baseball? That's KW. Jose Contreras for Estaban Loaiza? That's KW. One of the best and most consistent pitchers of this era (Buehrle), who's never sniffed the DL and shown no signs of slowing down, locked up for the next two years after this one at a more than reasonable rate? That's KW (and a little bit of Rick Hahn). I know KW isn't perfect. He's made a few moves I wish he hadn't. But the hits more than compensate for the misses. I'm glad Mr. Kenny Williams is our GM. it's a lame internet thing, but, +1
  16. lol, sweet thread bump! I'm still good with what I said, basically he's an OK player but they needed pitching more at the time and the contract was insane. One more start and I'm looking for the Harden trade thread
  17. LOL at Lawlor at the weigh ins, he came as the "Just Bleed" buy and even mimiced his flex
  18. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 03:22 PM) I love how Rich Harden sucks. I have no idea what happened to him, he was dominate last year and all the years before. He just was injured. Now, he just plain sucks. Kasper said there's no difference between the speed on his change-ups and FBs, meaning if in a game his change-up is 83, it's 83 95% of the time, if his FB is 96, it's 96 most of the time
  19. http://mmapayout.com/2009/07/cuban-now-a-zuffa-bondholder/ Cuban is now a Zuffa bondholder, which is interesting because it gives him access to their financials. Zuffa is privately held so they don't have to release their financials
  20. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 12:33 PM) You can throw out every stat there is when the Sox are playing a team. Gomez and Punto will do more damage than Moreanau and Mauer in this series. I am not drunk or joking I seriously believe this. I agree with you
  21. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 11:15 AM) I'm always excited to face Nick Punto. He is batting .218 this year, which means he will go 8-12 this series. Don't forget Carlos Gomes, who completely sucks against every other team. God, I dread these series because Hawk will blabber on about how awesome they are... I was so proud of him when last year he said their idea of keeping the same scouting ideas wouldn't work in the outdoor park next year, then this year he did a complete 180 and said it was a great idea
  22. I am worried until I see her again and am changing my avatar back to her (except I'm getting an error message, so I'll try later, McGriff will just have to give her good juju)
  23. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 10:47 AM) Why did this get hijacked into becoming a Swisher thread? lol, sorry mods! I was a willing participant in that, erase if need be! He's like politics and religion to some people!!
  24. QUOTE (Cubano @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 07:18 AM) That is a lots of money. Alexei should be shaking his head. http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/2009/...-ss2b-jose.html Alexei's success probably somewhat helped him.
