QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 11:07 AM) Please tell me we face the Royals a couple times in the first few weeks of the season so that we get a shot at him before he's cut. Come on, he's got to get one homestand in KC so he can economically stimulate the BBQ industry

QUOTE (Cubano @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 01:41 PM) If the big three outside MLB says we won't send a team, MLB cries. They made the impossible for Cuba to come. They know there is no legitimacy w/o these teams. Next time, other countries should challenge MLB and asked for the finals to take place outside the USA. I like to see what MLB based players will do. You have to follow the dollars. If they can make money and get quality sponsors outside of the U.S. it will probably happen, if not, it won't

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/spring2009/n...tory?id=3993316 Godzilla won't play outfield until June, he'll be limited to DH and pinch hitting duties. This will force A-Rod to play 3b when he comes back, and as I posted earlier, if he's limited defensively that's going to be a bad left side of the infield

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 18, 2009 -> 01:34 PM) AHAHAH SBMI. We had an epic war about his lawyer status on here. Hilarious RNW was so dumb and easy to flame. What was the dispute about his lawyer status?

QUOTE (BearSox @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 10:35 PM) Davey Johnson's managing is awful... I'm still trying to figure out why Jeter gets all the majority of starts at short. Because he's Captain America and Captain Clutch!!!! He plays for the Yankees!!! He's the most awesomest awesome who ever awesomed! He's won gold gloves, just ignore that he's probably the worst fielding everyday SS in baseball!!!

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 10:32 PM) I find it hard to take any team USA game seriously, Davey Johnson plays it more like an All-Star game than a legitimate international tournament. I was actually hoping for a USA loss after watching Thornton pitch tonight, it'd be nice to have him back in Sox camp. The deeper the U.S. goes the more thankful I am that Danks turned it down

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 04:58 PM) Anything the Broncos want, they can have for Cutler. This team cannot build, or find a QB of their own. How many QBs have we started over the last 20 years. Get him, build around him. I agree they should pursue him and be willing to give up a decent amount, but you can't give up everything. I think David Carr could have been a good QB in the league, he just had zero to help him build his game. -

QUOTE (chunk23 @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 04:27 PM) It's too bad that Nix doesn't seem to be able to stay healthy, he seems to be doing well otherwise. Also, I think one of either Richard/Marquez is a lock for the rotation. it will probably depend on how their early season schedule breaks out regarding needing a 5th starter. If they need a 5th starter early on I can see both making it since The Count might need an extra few weeks to stretch out -

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 04:20 PM) Trib's Gonzalez: TUCSON, Ariz. - White Sox second baseman Jayson Nix was pulled in the top of the fifth inning after ripping a double off the center field wall. Nix apparently aggravated a right quadriceps strain that sidelined him earlier this spring. Nix was noticably limping as he rounded first base. He was replaced by Eider Torres. That's a competition you don't want to lose ABs in -

Bernstein is expressing my feelings on this situation now. I think it's crucial and imperative that Angelo explores the Cutler situation deeply, but I don't think he has to pull out all stops to get him. -

QUOTE (wsgdf_2 @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 03:58 PM) Gameday: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?g...chamlb_arimlb_1 don't get me wrong, I don't think Richard is bad at all, I think he can be an effective SP in the league, I'm just not ready to rag on MBs contract just yet -

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 17, 2009 -> 03:49 PM) Three shutout innings for Clayton Richard. One hit, one walk. He's making Buehrle's contract look bad. Just my opinion. huh? MBs contract isn't that bad, even in the new market. Clayton has looked OK in some regular season games and OK in ST, let's not jump the gun here -
Sutcliffe (sp?) and Phillips are just epically bad announcers. Everything Sutcliffe sees is the greatest thing ever. Phillips was talking about how Cantu was tipping pitches off at 3rd base by the way he was leaning, so he attempts to prove it and call pitches, well the first one he has no clue and says what the pitch is 3 seconds after the pitch was thrown and the speed was on the screen, then for the second one he yells out fastball and it was a 75 MPH curveball. I thought Orel was going to piss himself he was laughing so hard.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 16, 2009 -> 06:21 PM) he left with something real minor and said himself it was just precautionary. turns out to be a rotator cuff issue, he's out for the rest of the WBC and is questionable for opening day. Source is ESPN

QUOTE (qwerty @ Mar 16, 2009 -> 04:34 PM) Players actually ''fall off'' much quicker than the age of 30. Major leaguers? No. Life time minor leaguers? Hell yes. This sort of thing happens all the time, especially to players that were never very good in the first place, owens just so happens to fall into that category. Why do all the studs hit or pitch so well in high school, college, or any portion of the minors, and then go on to hit a wall? Generally when this wall is hit it is before the age of 25, thus us knowing they will likely never help out a major league team. Their best days are behind them, they are over matched, really that simple. Aberrations happen all the time in sports, the 2005 season for owens was just that. This is simply beating a dead horse as you are still a backer of his, though nothing will change your mind until he hurts the sox once more with his production, or should i say his lack of production. Btw, owens is really is not all that fast, so there goes his only ''asset''. I'm not a big fan of the response I'm going to post, but I think your post totally deserves it... +1 -

QUOTE (tommy @ Mar 16, 2009 -> 04:01 PM) I'm not sure if we can say that Bartolo and Jose have a shot at making the rotation, without really seeing them pitch. Jose looked really good last time out, Bartolo is pitching today, and he's wasn't all that good. You're right, I probably did overstate their progress. I do think it is a story how well they've progressed, especially the Count -

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Mar 16, 2009 -> 02:19 PM) With his alcohol and coke problems, I really hope they do not consider him. This guy is one incident away from missing a season You can probably get him for very little and a one year guarantee. The Bears have a lack of skill on this team and they seriously need to start addressing that issue, sometimes teams need to take risks. I do agree with you that it's a long shot, doesn't seem to be a Bears type move -

I thought along your lines, but I found a few people that I wanted to talk to again fairly easily, so it has been worth it.

http://deadspin.com/5170729/matt-jones-rel...-jaguars-roster Matt Jones released from the Jags. With the Bears complete lack of talent at WR, I hope they consider him -
I'm not a fan of theirs, but I saw Marilyn Manson open for Hole and NIN, then about 1-2 years later they were huge.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Mar 16, 2009 -> 01:00 PM) considering the bears have done NOTHING this off season, I would be shocked if this got done. It is really hard to be a Bears fan during times like this. I agree with you, if he gets traded I bet you don't even hear the Bears name in the derby. -
