  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 08:47 AM) I don't have a team I root for, but I really dig the weekend morning Premiership games on NBC Sports. I am awake anyway, nice to have some love sports on. I am thrilled that ESPN didn't get the extended coverage contract. NBC has done such a wonderful job of showcasing the entire league, rightfully giving the bigger clubs more run, but not completely smothering. ESPN would have been all about the two Manchester teams, a little to CFC, Liverpool and Arsenal and rest of the league be damned.

    Christmas Eve

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 24, 2013 -> 09:28 AM) Damn so in after working there 3 years with 5 days rolled over each year you could already take a sabbatical at that point. There is a limit of some sort, but it does get ridiculous how much time people have, especially since you get days added to your total when you hit certain anniversaries.

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 24, 2013 -> 09:18 AM) FIVE WEEKS? Yeah, it's nice and its why I'm at a job that, while I still get paid OK, I could get a higher paying one. My director encourages us to take it too, as does our CFO. In our quarterly in September/October we go over how much time we have and when we can take it. It includes our sick time, but I'm 34 and healthy so I really don't get sick where I can't work, especially since we can work from home.

    Christmas Eve

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 24, 2013 -> 09:04 AM) Yeah I'm hoping to head out about 3:30, our CEO is ordering us steaks though, that's nice. I usually work these times because my family is in Chicago. I'd rather those that need to travel to travel and I take my time off in a week or two. My exact thought process too. Also, it saves days to take off in the summer! We get 5 weeks vacation to start and can only roll over 5, so using days can be tricky, I took two days off last week just so I didn't lose them.

    Christmas Eve

Yup, hopefully only to like 2:30. Completely empty here.
  6. QUOTE (G&T @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 05:08 PM) The PD better talk to you or put you in touch with someone that can help. You don't have a real lease with this guy. The agreement might default to month to month. Talk also to your landlord and see what he thinks as long as you won't get in trouble. As an Ex-PD in a smaller county than cook, it really depends on the PD that's assigned. They'll have a crap ton of cases, so they might not really respond at all. Most PD offices will have an Investigator, possibly ask to talk to them if you have some rebuff. You're really not a party to the case they're representing them on, PDs aren't assigned to the client per se, but to the case that client is on, so basically meaning PDs aren't resposnible for their other matters. Good thing about him being incarcerated is if you go the route of having to evict with legal papers etc. he'll be REALLY easy to serve, which is a HUGE thing. If any legal proceeding you have to do is in same courthouse where he's at (which he should be staying until sentenced) jail will bring him down for all the eviction or whatever proceedings. You won't have to chase around, get continuances, etc. Again, yes, it doesn't seem you have a formal lease, but if they were living there and they can establish that, again mail with their name and that address on it is decent evidence from them, you really can't just toss people or their stuff. I agree with whoever said contact a lawyer, it may cost a little up front but it will save you a headache and possibly more $$ down the line.
  7. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 02:14 PM) There might be legal ramifications for throwing out someone's property. Yeah, i'd be careful. It's been awhile since I've done lease type stuff, but it's tricky. If he was receiving mail there they're going to establish residency likely, meaning all sorts of things kick in.
  8. Why the hell would the Score hire Levine?
  9. QUOTE (balfanman @ Dec 17, 2013 -> 10:14 AM) Let me say that I'm impressed too and think the team is in better shape then they were 5 months ago. That being said, I don't believe that Hahn has exactly aquired 'Blue Chip" prospects either. Davidson, Eton, Garcia, Abreu, eyt. are all nice prospects, but I don't think any of them are top 50 are they? Please correct me if I'm wrong (I have no doubt that someone will), but it's not like the Sox now have a stable of "Top of the Line", "can't miss" youngsters. I realize that you would of had to of had top of the line players to start trading with, but just sayin. No such thing generally, also IMO, there's a TON of politics/business behind rankings. Hahn has greatly improved the you talent with players that are generally regarded well, they have the #3 pick in the draft and they have no long-term crazy contracts. I'm optimistic about the future.
  10. why? Take a quick look at his splits, after an actually decent start he boarded the suck train and rode it all the way until the end of the season, so it's not even like he had a good finish to hope to build on.
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 09:56 AM) If the Cubs have another big losing season(which looks very possible), the natives will become very restless. When he was hired, I told myself that Theo is going to have to start seeing results in year 3 otherwise things will get ugly. but but but.... 100 years of WRIGLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 11, 2013 -> 08:53 AM) I thought they are claiming it's strictly for health issues. That he was never 100% this season and he is getting sacked so much they don't want to risk further injury. Yeah, I did go back and edit it, that is what they're saying, I meant it to mean there is nothing new, my initial post didn't push that.
  13. Looks like Shannahan is benching RG III for Cousins this weekend. No health issues being reported now, saying he's keeping him out to keep him healthy moving forward.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 01:52 PM) They refused to even make him an offer leading up to that point. The Sox told him to go out and test the market. From my understanding, which is one step away from MB, it wasn't even really that. MB's agents called and Sox response was tepid at best.
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 17, 2013 -> 08:53 AM) I haven't seen the fight yet but you just can't leave it up to the judges ever. I love MMA and I love boxing and I'm certainly not saying it's right but there's always shady decisions in these sports. It sucks but it's how it is. Agreed, I hated the decision but a great fight
  16. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 6, 2013 -> 11:33 PM) Ya Twitter went nuts over that fight and I missed it. Damn it. The fight was bonkers, go out of your way to watch a replay
  17. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Dec 5, 2013 -> 12:37 AM) Outside of an extremely boring off season so far would someone please explain to me why we want to sign a 32 yo that has hit above .250 once since 08 , strikes out a ton and comes with a hefty contractual commitment ( both salary and years) ? Considering he was batting in the Yankee lineup, what can you reasonably expect from him in the Sox lineup who's offense was piss- poor at best last year? I want to see the sox get some players, but the right players. Going after Granderson just seems more like a move out of desperation than anything else. Just don't get it. I totally get your point and agree about teams making moves just to make moves, however, baseball teams have a crap-load of money right now, if it's not some sort of crazy burdensome contract I wouldn't mind him coming, but the loss of draftpick at this point with the Sox, would probably have me against bringing him in.
  18. A lot would have to depend on what any team who trades for him think his mental bounce-back will be. I definitely believe that PEDs help, but I also think that help is limited, so I expect him to have the potential to be a productive player still, especially if a sizeable chunk of the 113 is absorbed by the Brewers. However, he is going to have a ton of spotlight on him from ST day one. He hasn't shown the greatest track record of dealing with things, so that is a major gamble.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 11:39 AM) Eric Wedge is getting another interview for MGR With the fiasco after they fired Sveum I can only draw one of two conclusions 1., Sveum and management just didn't work together and Cubs felt the need to get rid of him ASAP without putting a great plan in place 2., They completely thought, either through arrogance or mis-reading the situation, that Girardi was signed sealed and delivered.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 25, 2013 -> 09:03 AM) Scouting all of the major league talent in the fall softball leagues. Chris Widger v2014!!
  21. considering what the group that bought it for paid for it, that is INSANE!!!!
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 12:28 PM) Jermaine Dye? A.J. Pierzynski? Albert Belle? He was a jerk and he used an escape clause he and his agent negotiated, but his first year a good year with a 1.5 WAR, but he posted a 7.0 WAR in his last year... that is jackpot.
  23. QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 10:58 AM) I don't really understand where this is coming from. In Cuba, scouts aren't allowed to set foot near a live game - let along bring a radar gun in. In his WBC games he hit almost .400... So you're telling me that a hitter better than Cespedes and Puig can't turn on mediocre heat? I seriously doubt it. I will only believe this scouting report if it becomes evident during spring training. The guy hasn't been a big strike out guy so far in 7 out of 8 seasons in Cuba. If he has some thou me in his rookie year but can make he adjustment - that's all that matters and really, to me... That's the most likely worst case scenario. This is probably my White Sox fan angst coming out, but I think it's coming from he didn't sign with one of the media darling teams, so it's not being spun in an overly positive way.... again, probably angst, but I think if NYY, Red Sox or Cubs the positive scouting reports would be pushed.
  24. If the sealed bid thing was a gimmick, there's a chance that a lot of this smoke is Abreu's people trying to get the sox to 70m
  25. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 04:43 PM) Yeah, Votto point obviously makes it make no sense, I was watching from fringe, looks like Rangers were part of it before he cut it down to 3, just mental lapse!
