Sox vs LAD spring game thread 3/29
SoxFan562004 replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2012 Season in Review
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 29, 2012 -> 04:00 PM) Dunn strikes out twice, just in time for season to start. even if he has a bounceback year he's going to strike out a hell of a lot of times. -
Reinsdorf key player blocking Moorad's ownership

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Mar 23, 2012 -> 02:02 PM) He doesn't have majority stake but represents the group of Sox owners. Your right i was using JR as a the head of current ownership since that is what he is, he is the public face. Again, I fully realize and acknowledged what he and his ownership groups have done for Chicago sports. However as weird as it is to say coming off a WS win seven years ago, I am not thrilled with how the Sox have been handled lately... Probably unfair, but it is how I feel. -
Reinsdorf key player blocking Moorad's ownership
SoxFan562004 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah, JR is almost like a co-commissioner at this point with Uncle Bud. I know he was big in who got to, or who didn't get to, buy the Cubs. Kind of not on topic, I really appreciate what JR has done for the White Sox and the Bulls, but with the line of new, fresh owners lining up to buy ball clubs, I'm thinking it's about time for JR to sell it. I know due to circumstances Sox won't get an astronomical price like LAD and such, but with a favorable stadium deal and 1/4 of a network, I'm sure they would attract a decent bid. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 22, 2012 -> 12:15 PM) Tribune article today, they don't want to have their first opponents see what those starters are throwing. Sounds logical, one of the reasons I was thinking... -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 22, 2012 -> 11:30 AM) Daryl Van Schouwen @CST_soxvan KC@Sox 3:05 http://whitesox.com: De Aza CF Lillibridge LF Rios RF Konerko DH Dunn 1B Pierzynski C Morel 3B Beckham 2B Escobar SS. Stewart P Closer possibles Thornton, Reed to face Royals as well. Peavy pitching in a minor league game. Texas Rangers. Has there been an org reason for putting the last two SPs in minor league games? I can see positives to it, just wondering if they've given a reason. -
QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 10:46 PM) Need to get Norm to host again. His joke at the very end is an all time classic. this is a clip that makes me laugh every time I see it... there's a KGJ cutaway that is priceless in there.

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 09:51 PM) Especially since the head of HBO Sports was pretty much fired. Him being very anti-MMA could mean that we could finally see the UFC hit HBO. yeah, and it seems like Spike is ready to make a run at Bellator if/when UFC leaves. I think the UFC will do something major, PPVs have stagnated/decreased (some is due to injuries and Brock not being on one in awhile). I think to take the company to another level they need a bigger presence than Spike, Vs., PPV combo.

Alistair Overeem out of the SF HWGP. Were some rumbles earlier SF/Zuffa/Showtime wanted the next round to be September 10 and he said he wouldn't fight then. Turns out it will be September 10th, so he's not fighting on it now. Daniel Cormier is taking his place. Dana says Showtime wanted the next card to be on the 10th, so it's happening then. AO was throwing out the pro boxing possibility which to me is just taking a page out of the Nick Diaz negotiation handbook. Who knows what's really going on. UFC's deal with Spike is wrapping up early in 2012 and the Showtime options for SF are out there. The TV deals for MMA have a big chance of looking wildly different next year and it's causing a lot of weird holding patterns right now.

QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 06:39 PM) Viciedo for Dunn is obviously the right play. Didn't Dunn have 3 more Ks today, including one with first and third and one out -- in Wrigley, allegedly his favorite park to hit. His mind is mush. He needs to go on the DL to regroup. Gotta be sub .170. (.168). But one that can't happen because of the contract. That's on Kenny. Not Ozzie. you could also say Q as well. He's not struggling as much as Dunn, but he hasn't hit in 2-3 weeks. Not saying I want to see either Dunn or Q struggle, but there is another spot Dayan could legitimately take

QUOTE (forrestg @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 12:57 PM) Cameron designated for assignment by Redsox. Is there anything left he's 38. Will somebody pick him up? There's been talk about the Phillies looking for a RHB for a platoon role. If they don't think there's anything better on the trade front they might give him a shot.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 08:52 PM) Mitrione was pretty good Saturday too. I have to admit, I thought he was a flake on TUF, and I didnt think he had a shot in the UFC. But he has really taken his training to another level, you can see it in him. He doesnt have that flabby weight that he did on TUF he's a good natural athlete and at HW, especially up and coming, that can take you a long way. HW will be interesting in a year or so, because I think some of the SF guys will start coming over.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 09:10 AM) The Kongo-Barry fight last night was unreal. it was crazy. Edgar/Maynard II is still FOTY to me, but that took Round of the Year away from Edgar/Maynard round 1 and Diaz/Daley Round 1

Marquardt didn't pass medicals for his fight tomorrow with Rick "The Horror" Story, so he got pulled and Dana said he's gone from the UFC... details on what happened haven't been reported yet

good job by Bruney and great job by Peavy. Nice win today, he might need a DL trip, but at least it's not Danks arm or shoulder.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 02:13 PM) He may have demanded it three weeks ago. Ihe was Boers and bernstein at 1:30 I believe he ended up having to be rescheduled due to "phone problems" He and his agent rolled the dice and lost, but I'm sure they were 100% aware of this potential outcome.

QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 02:30 PM) haha, just take a look at Konerko.. some people should really learn about steroids before making accusations about people Not saying PK is on them at all, but for many PEDs and how they can help an athlete, eye test isn't best way to go.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 12:31 PM) I really want this topic title changed to "Speculative PED use around baseball" and switched forums and/or deleted before it winds up on the web forever. that seems like a fair idea. There really are two topics in this climate, specific players PED usage and evidence linking them and the cloud that Selig and owners let hang over this sport by turning a blind eye to the issue and now basically every player who has a breakout year or a bump in their stats later on in their career has speculation cast their way.

2011 NFL Lockout Thread
SoxFan562004 replied to HuskyCaucasian's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
A few teams who hold training camp on a college campus have moved their training camps if/when the 2011 season starts. I wouldn't be shocked if Bears made similar announcement soon since if the start of season is delayed and school has to get ready for students to get back, can't have Bears running facility. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 06:25 PM) I kinda see Riggleman's side. Rizzo is tough to deal with, so he's either getting paid for 1.5 years now, or he's starting The Summer of Riggs. http://deadspin.com/5815180/jim-riggleman-...rows-last-night could be

F*** it III: Sox vs The National. First Pitch 7:10 CT

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 10:23 AM) Usually scares me to face a team with a new manager. But this is the very rare case where the manager is leaving while the team has been winning, not losing. I had the same thought, but like you point out about them winning and losing a manager, this is such a bizarre situation it might have the opposite effect. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 12:11 PM) Give me an article. Give me rumors. Don't give me idiot caller from Springfield on the Score. well the Score is having a discussion about it. So possibly one caller started it, but it is out there and being discussed. Again, this is what MLB and Uncle Bud did to the game and the conversation surrounding this issue. They decided to ignore it and roll in the cash from it and now there premiere superstar in Pujols is questioned about it a lot as are other players.
-
QUOTE (Real @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 12:06 PM) Just turned on the score and it seems they were discussing something in one of the Chicago papers? Then caller "Jim" phones in and tries to give validity to this arguement Anybody else hear/read about this? I just caught a clip on the Score coming back from an appointment, but I was waiting for it to start. Honestly, baseball did it to itself, if Pujols, Bautista, etc get it, PK is not above it.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 04:14 PM) What an idiotic move by the nats he forced their hand. If they don't feel he's the guy the org wants handling Strausburg coming back next year and the eventual debut of Harper then it was the right move by the org.

Do you think they have Sale ready to go in case Jake throws a ton of pitches in 3 innings, gets rocked or some other injury crops up?
