  1. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:58 PM) Fair enought, I just went through his tweets and haven't seen anything. Well, I'm glad we got the claim. Make it happen Kenny. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...tml?xid=si_mlb in fact here's the link to the article most of us think was ridiculous... it is now a 404 unavailable error
  2. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/base....html?eref=sihp here's a link to Heyman's new SI article, can't find a link to the one myself and others were discussing about Rangers/White Sox and the waivers, not sure if he just updates it and it's down.
  3. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:51 PM) Heyman never tweeted Rangers were the favorite and Sox are out of it btw. favorite might not have been used, but he wrote an article posted on SI within the last few hours saying Sox were no longer the favorite and Rangers had increased interest going on for multiple sentences about the Rangers and Manny while never once acknowledging the waiver process and how it worked... that is what I am referring
  4. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:48 PM) ya but expecting jerry sign off of on that deal more suprising he would have had to sign off on it already, the whole 4m boat, because LAD right now can just say "he is your player and the whole contract"
  5. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:46 PM) Warren the Ape is the Sh*t. LMAO at that bastard. all the Greg the Bunny stuff is very good IMO, even the watered down Fox show, it's too bad it never really catches on, and it appears the new MTV show isn't either, very creative and funny stuff!
  6. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) BTW, can we officially call Heyman the worst twitter source for all things White Sox? His "the Sox no longer the favorite" like 30 mins before it's annouced the Sox WON the claim was embarrasing. Rosenthal is the man with the best sources. what made that worse was he went on to opine about how the Rangers were interested and acted like they were favorites, basically completely ignoring the waiver process
  7. QUOTE (Tex @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 12:57 PM) It seems like he's been spiraling down the past decade or so. Next will be the trip to Betty Ford Clinic while admitting to a drug and/or alcohol problem. great point, this will happen very soon I bet
  8. QUOTE (tpezz27 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:37 PM) The Dodgers might only be 5 games back but they are chasing 4 teams. isn't it actually more than that since some of the races are so close that you kind of have to count the teams in 1st as well, because they would also have to start losing
  9. QUOTE (Wedge @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:29 PM) Is that true? I thought it just meant LAD can only try to make a deal with the Sox, recall waivers, or let it go through. oh, from the LAD point of view, yeah, they can pull him back from my understanding, I thought the question was from the White Sox point of view, sorry about that
  10. QUOTE (scotty22hotty @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:29 PM) Any chance he plays today with the Sox? was thinking the same thing, not sure, MLB would probably have to approve, but I think the LAD hold on to see if they can get a player out of the White Sox
  11. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:28 PM) So, after all the twits*** nothing so far today, - how is this not the "multiple teams" are the Rangers and White Sox and the White Sox win the priority claim and get Manny per the pre-agreed upon deal that Kenny/Coletti have in place? Sounds that way to me. look back a few posts, Stark is now saying White Sox won it
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:26 PM) Its definitely a gamble, but really any move on the waiver wire is. Also, if you make a claim, and the other team calls your bluff, and its not irrevocable waivers... can you retract the claim? And then what happens? I think these waivers are irrevocable
  13. well, now the card game starts or finishes with KW and LAD, they'll try and get a player or two... Also, this means JR said OK on the money, KW wouldn't claim him unless he was 100% sure the Sox could take the entire 4m because it's realistic LAD just walk away
  14. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:23 PM) It is pretty quiet in Chicago media, you would think if we didn't get the claim, somebody would have leaked it by now. We have been the number one topic in the Manny hype for three days. It's odd for sure. Not to mention, all this morning teams behind us claimed to not even waste their time claiming him. Very strange, either a NL team claime him and he stays put, or a surprise AL team did and I really don't see a team out of the r race doing that for 4.3 mil. Well see.......? no, just means nobodies sources are solid at this point, smart reporters shut up when they don't have solid sources on a subject... same thing could be said about media in every other city, all we've heard is the Rangers got trumped
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:21 PM) You're assuming they would get the claim as-is. you have to think it's a realistic possibility in this case if you're a team claiming him... There's a real chance LAD are completely fed up with him and after a little trade talk they could easily just say "screw it he's yours 4m and all."
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:20 PM) You'd think, but I think BigSqwert's theory is equally unlikely. Its also possible, BTW, that the report of multiple teams is wrong. also "multiple" isn't an exact word, if it was the Rangers and the White Sox only that's multiple teams
  17. anyone know how waivers work as far as the 48 hour of claims go? that could be 2 games per team, in a real close race how they determine who has the superior record? At the end of the 48 hours I assume.
  18. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:07 PM) in continuing guessing game, i hear #rangers did not win claim. neither did the couple teams behind them in picking order. from heyman so it has to be the White Sox or NL'er
  19. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 12:56 PM) I knew these was doomed with all the hype.the sox are deaperate for attendance and put our name out there to get ppl excited if we got him, great, if not KW saves face and says he tried. Same old BS with this administration. I'm disappointed this didn't happen. Desperate for attendance so they hyped a name they had no intention of getting and letting fans down? Makes zero sense to me. Not every move they want to pull off can happen, the Sox have made a lot of big moves during KWs regime... everyone of them? Of course not, even the NYY don't make every move they want to.
  20. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 12:56 PM) The only way the Rangers have a better shot was of we nor anyone else before us passed on Manny, which didn't happen seeing the reports saying multiple teams claimed Manny ad the Rays an Yanks not being one of those teams. it's pretty obvious one or more NL teams claimed him plus us and most likely the Rangers. I knew these was doomed with all the hype.the sox are deaperate for attendance and put our name out there to get ppl excited if we got him, great, if not KW saves face and says he tried. Same old BS with this administration. I'm disappointed this didn't happen. I'm not sure if the reports say that or they say they moved on and knew they had no shot... two different things, they could have claimed him but friendly calls to other GMs made it obvious they were trumped
  21. QUOTE (G&T @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 12:46 PM) Yes. And Bernstein and Speigal is bad only because Spiegal doesn't let Bernstein say whatever he wants. I'm looking forward to Heavy Fuel Crew. That may be why they're bad, but it's flat out awful. I'll give them a touch of slack only because chemistry is obviously important in a good radio show, but stuff like "what is visually appealing to you in baseball" for a 1/2 hour and playing a recorded old joke for 3 minutes is just a sampling of the badness.
  22. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 12:52 PM) They may have a better trade to offer but if the Sox place a claim the Rangers are not even invited to the party. I think the Dodger/White Sox trading history will help if he makes it to the White Sox. These twitter folks do not seem to understand how the process works. The Tigers have an easy schdule in September maybe they are rolling the dice and filing a claim and were hoping to clear Damon's salary to do so. Even with an easy schedule, I don't see how the Tigers could realistically think they had a shot, that would be betting on the Twins and White Sox completely falling on their faces and them playing unbelievable baseball with Maggs and other injuries
  23. QUOTE (thedoctor @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 12:48 PM) espn1000 doesn't know any more than we do at this moment. they probably have levine sitting at a desk and refreshing twitter every minute. Like I posted above, if that's the wording they used it's directly from Heyman's SI.com article
  24. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 12:44 PM) espn 1000 update: white sox no longer favorite to land manny Yeah, they may just be getting that from Heyman's update on SI.com, but that's only the headline and a line in the story, but he really doesn't explain it, but goes on to say the Rangers are interested. He completely ignores that the Sox have a superior claim. ESPN 1000 is flat out brutal lately, they don't call it a demotion, but Levine is now exclusively the Cubs beat reporter and he's off the whole MLB beat and they brought Padilla in to cover the Sox.
  25. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 12:40 PM) Forgive my waiver incompetence, but if an NL team claimed Manny, the Dodgers have to deal with them only, right? Well, deal or no deal. yes, or they can just walk away and the team takes his full contract like Sox with Rios last year or LAD can pull him back and keep him and then he's off the market
