Isreal didnt hesitate to destroy Saddams nuclear reactor so there's no reason to believe Isreal won't do the same thing if they feel threatened enough. Threatening and provoking Isreal as the Iranians have done is not a good idea.

3 Reasons Why The White Sox Will Contend in 07
NUKE_CLEVELAND replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The thing that really bothers me about this team is the lack of a 5th starter. Trading McCarthy ( who was set to assume the 5th slot ) has fundamentally weakened the staff. Now we're back to that same situation we had in 2004 where we were spinning the roulette wheel every 5th day. -

As many of you already know I'll be deploying with my Army unit to Iraq early next month so I thought it'd be cool to share my first hand experiences with my friends here in the Filibuster. Expect to see the first entry toward the end of this month as we prepare to leave and then at varying intervals while Im over there as time permits. The thread will appear as a pinned topic here in this forum but it will be locked so that only my entries can be posted. This is to prevent politics and arguments from clouding the issue. If anyone cares to comment or ask a question of me about anything they see in this blog they are welcome to PM me or post a seperate thread in the forum and I will answer as best as I can ( without going into operational stuff that I cant talk about ). My entries will be in very broad and general terms and in past tense. Obviously, for security reasons, I will not discuss ANY specifics about ongoing or planned missions, where they're being conducted at or when or how many of whatever is involved. Anything I write about will have already happened. This is for my own safety as well as those around me and to keep me out of trouble with whoever might be watching. At any rate, I think this is going to be a lot of fun and Im looking forward to it, as are the moderators with whom I've already discussed this little project with.

Much as I love Bush and the Republicans, one of the things that REALLY pisses me off about them and the oil companies is the massive subsidies they get from the government for all means of whatever. Time has come to take that cash away from them ( I think they make enough now ) and transfer it into a crash alternative energy program. This makes good sense from both an environmental standpoint as well as a national security standpoint. If the Democrats have 2 brain cells to bounce off each other they'll forget about this socialist windfall tax idea of theirs and take away their fat government subsidies away instead.

http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Inves...104markets.aspx I thought once the Republicans lost the election that Bush was going to wave his hands and make oil skyrocket again. As if those stupid conspiracy theories needed anymore debunking.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 3, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) Obama the "junkie". Tried cocaine amongst other drugs according to his own memoir from 11 years ago. I wonder if they'll give him the same amount of s*** for doing cocaine as they give Bush over the unfounded rumors he did cocaine. My guess is no.

Alright, I guess I'll take a stab at it. 5. Was a Cubs fan when I was in grade school......It took us getting cable and being able to actually watch the Sox for the brainwashing WGN gave me to wear off. 4. Never attended a Bears game in person. 3. Met Pat Foley in person in between periods of the last Hawks game I ever went to back in October of 2002. 2. Grew tired of college in my second year and quit to go into the Army ( Since have completed all but 5 classes toward my bachelors degree ). 1. Placed 3rd in the 2005 U.S. Army FORSCOM ( thats all U.S. based units ) NCO of the Year competition.

Judge Roberts Declares Constitutional Crisis

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jan 3, 2007 -> 12:26 AM) Something tells me if this was written by a Clinton appointee, you'd be all up in arms about it Nuke. Something tells me you're wrong. A sensible statement is still a sensible statement regardless of who's mouth it comes out of. -

Judge Roberts Declares Constitutional Crisis
NUKE_CLEVELAND replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jan 3, 2007 -> 12:08 AM) http://volokh.com/archives/archive_2006_12...html#1167791582 Garbage. Utter garbage. Now, I don't blame him for lobbying for more money. That's fine enough. By nature we're all greedy and like maxxx dollar$$$. But THIS was the ONLY THING in his annual report on the Judiciary? That's it? You've got to be kidding me. It sure as hell isnt' a Constitutional crisis, and it certainly isn't so bad that Roberts should make it the sole item of his message. It is not too little. The system is not messed up. You get into public service to make a mark on society. You don't do it to line your pockets. Which isn't to say that they should starve or "struggle to afford a Ford Taurus," because they shouldn't. But they don't, either. Not at all. You want to get rich -- become an analyst on Wall Street. If you want to be comfortable financially but make a mark on society, do politics. How ridiculous I find this. So you don't think it's important that the Government pay a competitive salary to draw and retain top legal talent? I dont know whether you noticed or not but its only a rare individual that is motivated solely by a desire to serve, and there simply arent enough of those types with the proper credentials to be a member of the judiciary. I dont know if crisis is a term I would have used here but your ire is a little misplaced. -

FBI sez: We saw abuse at Gitmo
NUKE_CLEVELAND replied to LowerCaseRepublican's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jan 2, 2007 -> 11:04 PM) What a cogent, well thought out response that really made me change my opinion. First it is bleeding hearts at the Red Cross/Crescent, then the ACLU...I'm just waiting for those "bleeding heart, terrorist loving Communist liberals" at the FBI to get lambasted here in saying they too saw abuses at Gitmo. Whining about "abuses" is still whining no matter who's mouth it comes from. -

Trailer park residents offered buyouts
NUKE_CLEVELAND replied to sox4lifeinPA's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jan 2, 2007 -> 05:58 PM) It'd be cool if they didn't sell. I love seeing people put community over money. Trailer Park living.........or being a millionaire? Trailer Park living........or being a millionaire Trailer Park living...........or being a millionaire If they want to live together so badly how bout take that money...................build nice homes elsewhere.........put the rest away for their future. This is about as big a no-brainer as you can get. -
QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jan 2, 2007 -> 12:59 AM) There are so many religions to point fingers at on that one, youd run out of hands.................... .................which is why I more or less eschew organized religon in favor of a simple belief in God and the existence of Heaven for those who live a virtuous life and a Hell for those who do not. http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/01/02/...tion/index.html Back on topic......... Why would the U.S. seek to delay the execution? The longer that man was allowed to live, the longer he was a thorn in our side and an impediment to Iraq's rebirth. Better to get rid of the bastard now and let whatever reaction, positive or negative, work itself out so people can move on.

Prayers needed for my new nephews and niece
NUKE_CLEVELAND replied to southsideirish71's topic in SLaM
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jan 2, 2007 -> 12:47 AM) I dont know if this will help, but I have been driving myself nuts tonight with this and just hope that if anything helps, its worth it. I ask that you could keep my sister-in-law, my brother and my 2 new nephews and my niece in your prayers. My sister-in-law was rushed to the hospital today due to some complications in a high risk pregnancy. She was pregnant with triplets. She had all three tonight not much over 2 pounds, and they are in the NICU unit tonight and will be there for the next 2 months. The little girl is the highest risk out of all of them, being that she was the smallest of the three. Little girls are a rarity in my family, we waited 40 years for my first niece and we seem to be blessed with 2 more. One that was born tonight and My wife is pregnant with a little girl and she is 2 weeks behind my sister-in-law. We were just thinking at christmas on how great this will be to have our little girl and a set of cousins the exact same age, almost sharing a birthday. A week later and everything has changed. Our thoughts are now on making sure that all three of them come home in a few months. You're a good friend of ours here and we all are pulling for you and your family. -
QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 1, 2007 -> 10:16 PM) Pretty broad strokes there, Nuke. I don't think these assbags represent Islam any more than the tards who attack abortion clinics represent Christians. I have no love lost for a religon that sanctions rape, abuse of women, and murder of anyone who doesn't share their beliefs then claims it is a "religon of peace". I'll take any opportunity I can to point out the hypocrasy in that.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jan 1, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) I was just harkening back to another Trojan Enz Boner of the Week from the Situation Room during Katrina when Wolf via teleprompter actually said "They're so poor...and they're so black." when talking about Katrina victims on the screen. LOL! WOW. Im surprised he still had a job after that. -

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jan 1, 2007 -> 10:12 PM) Yet another reason to hate Wolf Blitzer and his Situation Room. He's so dumb...and so old. Wolf Blitzer doesn't make those graphics, some peon in the back room does. -
QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Jan 1, 2007 -> 10:05 PM) When are the Muslims NOT having a holy day, week month or celebration? If there was a half green color, I would use it, because I am partly serious in this question. It seems like every damn thing is a holy month, major celebration, etc. They really act like its a holy month or day or whatever when they blow people up, gun them down and leave dozens of beaten and bullet riddled bodies laying around. Religon of peace...............
