  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 28, 2007 -> 09:21 AM) SI is reporting that the Rangers are close to a multi-year deal with Shortstop Michael Young, which could be worth around $90 million for 6 years. Dag nab it, I figured if we would sign anyone to a fat contract next year in FA it would be Michael Young.
  2. Maddux is awesome.
  3. Cause I just say....and I know its about 2 days late....damn you Penn State...Damn you Penn State.
  4. If the rumor involves Kenny and a girl that rumor is flat 100% bull.
  5. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 2, 2007 -> 02:17 PM) If information comes out concerning McCarthy's attitude, and our management's displeasure with it, it makes me wonder about future young talent on this ballclub. Will we be patient with a potential superstar if he doesn't get along with our manager, or other teammates? How would we have handled Delmon Yountg throwing a bat at an umpire? I'm not willing to believe Williams traded Brandon because of his attitude alone, but you have to imagine it factored in. I know with 100% certainty that Williams was and still is a huge fan of McCarthy.
  6. Wow...awesome story.
  7. Fantastic news. Both JA and Lovie are here for a while. JA here till 2013 while Lovie is signed till 2012 (it was a 4 year extension, but he also has this year left on his contract). I knew the media was blowing smoke like usual and the two sides agreed and voila!!!!

Based on what I've come to expect this was flat out a horrible episode. It was meh on a tv show basis but for lost this was just bad. The show is losing a lot of its luster and this is coming from someone who hasn't had that feeling until recently. They may have things spread too far out right now (so many key characters that its hard to develop them) but I'm just flat out not the biggest fan of them dedicating entire episodes to 1 or 2 characters at the most.
  9. Haha, I really enjoyed the episode. They have done such an outstanding job developing the characters and it was just cool seeing the updates as to what is going on in the rest of the world. I'm also real interested in what goes on with Hawkins because right now I'm totally miffed on whether he was on the inside trying to prevent the bombing or if he is flat out a bad guy that somehow had a change of heart right at the end. Jericho >>> Lost Afterall, Lost hasn't been near as good since the break (i'd think they would have started the 2nd half of there series with some power episodes to get people resunk but it just hasn't happened).
  10. I like Russel a lot. I actually think he has a chance to emerge into a middle of the rotation to semi front line starter this season. This is going to be a huge year for Adam.

I'm thinking this is the episode that fully re-sinks Lost fans back into the show.
  12. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 11:24 PM) If many of you were like me, you've heard of 'Jericho' but never bothered to actually view it. Continually hearing CBS proclaim its own show as "the new hit series" during promotional spots in a football game isn't very convincing. Honestly, I thought the entire series would be littered with religious references; another factor which drew me away. OnDemand has now convinced me otherwise. This show is tremendous. If none of you are familar with the premise, it's similar to "The Stand"--without the supernatural elements or a plague. The pilot episode begins with a nuclear explosion over Denver visible to the residents of Jericho, Kansas. From this event, and subsequent information released later (I'm not going to ruin it), the town bands together for survival. As one may expect, numerous events occur which test the residents and provide interesting post-apocalypic drama. I know I sound like I'm slurping the show, but I feel it's incredibly underrated. Comparing the first 11 episodes (which are free OnDemand, btw) to the first 11/12 of Lost, Jericho kicks the crap out of it. One noticeable preference for Jericho is the development of various characters. I genuinely care more about them and their situation than a large majority of stranded Lost cast-members. Hopefully this seasons begins strong. Rex, I and a few others had a thread on jericho a while back. Its definitely one of the hidden shows on television and I have stayed into it despite a longer layoff than Lost had. That said there is still half a season left and I'm sure there will be more great stuff. I didn't see an episode till about the 8th one and after seeing that I downloaded the old episodes and caught up and just found myself hooked. Lost....Heroes....Jericho are three of the better shows on tv with Jericho and Heroes having the momentum (albeit Jericho doesn't have the ratings).
  13. Somewhere steve would be happy...I'm growing out some facial hair as my countdown to busy season ending and me going out to spring training.
  14. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 07:45 PM) China's markets holding steady right now. Thats good news considering the tanking it took today.
  15. I think were getting a player from Tampa Bay with a lot of upside. Like the move
  16. I changed up my 401K a bit but I have absolutely zero holdings in individual stocks. I have some international funds that have done outstanding, and than a couple bond funds, a REIT, and than a few specific retirement funds with a target retirement of when I'm 55-60. I pretty much don't pay much attention to the day to day because my thinking is very long term but I've had real nice appreciation thus far (but I'm sure somewhere along the lines there will be some bumps in the road).
  17. QUOTE(Reddy @ Feb 27, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) now are we playing against each other or against WSI? Against WSI. I should note that some of the roster spots were questionable and everyone will get to play. If we end up having extra players, we will have a second game so everyone will play.
  18. Attached is the updated roster. Please let me know if you signed up and don't see your name on there and I'll take care of adding it. For some players I didn't get there positions they would prefer (not a big deal). QUOTE(maggliopipe @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 05:30 PM) I recently bought a 56" Samsung DLP and I love the thing. While that style of HDTV may not be for everyone, I strongly recommend purchasing from amazon.com. I couldn't have been happier with my experience. Their price beat Best Buy's by $330, plus free shipping with 'white glove' delivery and no sales tax. I had the thing in my living room 1 week after placing the order just in time for the Superbowl, and they even disposed of the box and all the packaging for me. Don't hesitate to buy from them just because it's a big ticket item from something other than a brick-and-mortar store. I bought that tv for my mom (my gift of saying thanks for the free rent I get) and a 50 inch one for myself and couldn't be happier. Through amazon.com and the price was a total steal. I too had an outstanding experience with amazon.com. And damn does the tv look great on the Xbox 360 as well as the high def channels and on the HDMI dvd player.

QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 07:17 AM) I'd go with neither. The best tv's on the market are made by Samsung. If you're willing to drop 13-1400, and not opposed to Wal-Mart, you can get a Samsung 42inch plasma from SamsClub. We just bought the 27inch LCD for the bedroom for $700. Excellent picture quality, very bright, and it has two hdmi inputs. The plasma would be even better. http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate....&pCatg=6150 If you can spend $1800 they have a 50in plasma too. Obviously this is different from your Best Buy hookup, but ask about their Samsungs. Also remember that they jack up all the settings in the store to make them look as bright as possible (while keeping all of the lights off in the TV area). If you're looking at rear-projection they have great picture quality but you need a dark room and you need seating that's directly in front of the tv. If you trust your Best Buy buddy though i'm sure he's told you all of this. Completely agree. My Samsung is absolutely amazing and my guess is you can get your buddy at Best Buy to get you a discount on that. If you are going to drop the money you might as well drop it on a real nice tv that will last a long long time.

Ya, sometimes you can call and get a room that way. That would be my best recommendation.
