Interesting. We give up a 3rd round pick pretty much for Jason Williams and he should fit in nicely as a top 6 forward moving on down the road. I like this move considering we have a glut of defenseman.

Flying Under The Radar
Fullerton took 2 of 3 from the Bruins (we lost our home game, swept our two road games at UCLA). Nice win considering UCLA is a pretty darn good team. Roemer was out-dueled and the offense got shut down in the first game by UCLA's ace whose is looking like a legit mlb prospect. Still we went 2-2 on the week which was kind of dissapointing. That said I'd imagine we stick right around 10 in the rankings.

Is King any good? Or is this more a deal for the draft pick?

Will spring training game be on mlb.tv
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 21, 2007 -> 09:15 AM) How do you connect the computer to the TV? Is there another way to do it besides using the Slingbox? If your tv has the right hookup and the laptop has a monitor out section thats about all you have to do (or computer). So its just a matter of finding out what hookup you have in the back of the tv.

Chief Illiniwek.....HE GONE!!!
QUOTE(longshot7 @ Feb 23, 2007 -> 11:15 AM) As seen in the film "In Whose Honor?" I'm familiar with the Univ. of North Dakota controversy as well. Their mascot is the Fighting Sioux, which although (to my knowledge) didn't have a chief Illiniwek-type character at halftimes, the name Sioux is offensive to the Lakota nation (the real name of the tribe - not Sioux as it was given to them by an enemy tribe.) The UND controversy is complicated by the fact that the school has a new basketball/hockey arena, which has the Sioux logo impressed onto every seat, and a clause in the building's lease which states that if the name Sioux ever changes, UND will not be allowed to have games there. As you can guess, the major donor behind the arena's construction was a big Sioux (the name)-defender. But they'll lose their court case, so it'll be interesting to see what happens next. I hate that film. Our high school had to watch that film a million times because our mascot was the Warriors and there was debate on whether we should drop the name Warriors. Luckily we voted to keep the name (not like I have major school spirit but I think the whole idea of dropping your name is such hooey). I can buy into the whole RedSkins idea though so to speak and that being a poor team name.

Damn it, Bulls should have won. Pissed another one away. Its ridiculous to think how many games we've lost this season that we should have won. And that was such a freaking foul on Webber when he got the offensive rebound and tip back for the win.

I think at some point this season we'll see a lot of John Danks.

Arsenal vs Chelsea
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 24, 2007 -> 10:04 PM) You're an Arsenal fan Jason? Oh goody. Suppose it COULD be worse, but still it's pretty bad. In other news, West Ham SUCK. Getting Tevez and Macsherano somehow sent this team on a downward spiral that they never recovered from. Oh and Nigel Reo Coker is probably going to Arsenal next season as well. West Ham flat can't score. They got owned today. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 24, 2007 -> 10:04 PM) You're an Arsenal fan Jason? Oh goody. Suppose it COULD be worse, but still it's pretty bad. Oh and Nigel Reo Coker is probably going to Arsenal next season as well. I'd what you'd call a relatively new Arsenal fan. This is the first time I've ever followed the premiere league and I'm a huge Henry fan. I watch Fox Soccer Channel more than anything right now (but I'm not a big fan of the spanish league games or the Italian league games...I prefer the EPL. Too much diving in the spanish league and I won't support the cheaters league, ie Italian league). I'm still learning a lot about how exactly the EPL works and the random tourney's like the FA Cup. I love the replay format though.

Arsenal vs Chelsea
f***ing ehhh and Hell ya Jimbo I want to see if our young squad can do it. No Henry in the game but we still got Rosicky. And than we got the FA cup replay on Wednesday against Blackburn. Damn STS channel that I've never heard of ruins my plans of watching Chelsea/Arsenal.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 18, 2007 -> 08:36 PM) Man, I hope '300' doesn't suck, because what I've seen looks amazing. I fear it will be overdone. Miami 911 is jsut like the show...some hillarious parts...lots of absolutely stupid parts. My recommendation is to wait to rent it.

Could be a pretty good outfield in.............
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 24, 2007 -> 01:40 PM) I'm sick of the love Darin Erstad gets on this board. The guy isn't good, and is living off of one good year. If he has a good Spring Training, it means he's our starting CFer, and that sucks. If given equal opportunity this year, Anderson would outplay Erstad by quite a bit when taking into account both offense and defense. I'd be absolutely stunned if a healthy Erstad was worse than a healthy Anderson...STUNNED.

Arsenal vs Chelsea
I'm trying to figure out when it will be on so I can record it and see if my Emirates can pull it off against Chelsea. Usually all the games are on Fox Soccer Channel but I can't find it on the schedule there? Anyone?

Could be a pretty good outfield in.............
QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 24, 2007 -> 08:33 AM) Sending Anderson down would make no sense. With all the LHP we face, are we actually going to make Erstad the sacrificial lamb in CF against the likes of Johan, C.C., etc. Like Tony said, I have no faith in Ozzie to handle this the right way. I can't wait for Pods to start off April hitting .100, and everyone to say "it's ok, he's rounding into shape". Anderson sucked against righties and lefties, its not like he's Eduardo Perez against left handed pitching. I'm sick of the ridiculous love BA gets on this board. The guy was one of the most awful every day starters as a rookie as I've seen in a long time (from the offensive perspective).

Iguchi in the 7 spot?
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 20, 2007 -> 11:41 PM) As much as I hate the idea, it's up to Anderson not to provide Guillen with an excuse to limit AB's. Play baseball without the entire sucking part and such decisions won't be necessary. Unless, of course, Guillen begins to play favorites; in which case may God help us.

Flying Under The Radar
Dang it, TItans come up short against Tony Gwynn's Aztecs. Now we got a tough split series (1 game at Fullerton, 2 at UCLA) against a very young and very talented Bruin squad.

Iowa dug itself into too deep of a hole early in the season. Had we not blown two key games, we probably have a chance at getting in without having to run through the BTT, but right we still have two more games left and I have fear that we'll blow em. If we win them, than maybe I'll have a bit more hope (as we'd likely be the 3rd in the big ten standings). Like I say, we are a tourney team now but you got to count the entire season and for about the first 10-15 games we were not a tourney team.

which current sox players will eventually be HOFers?
QUOTE(Steff @ Feb 16, 2007 -> 10:26 AM) There is no way Jim Thome can be a choice based on the criteria. He'll never be on an active roster with another team longer than he was with the Indians. Oh no doubt he will not enter the hall a White Sox, but he is a current member of the White Sox that will likely make the hall. Maybe if he wins a few rings with the Sox that changes though QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Feb 16, 2007 -> 10:45 AM) here's an interesting stat though Pedro Martinez seems to be one of those "sure HOFers" that is tauted as being a lock whenever he name comes up...he only has 197 wins! only 36 active pitchers (as of 2005) have more than 103 career wins! And some of those guys are ancient (clemens, johnson, maddux, glavine), and some are relievers now (fassero, gordon...is fassero even still in the league)? what will be the new benchmark for wins for a hall of famer? I don't think anyone will ever even get 250 again. I think we need to look at 200 with the way the game has changed I think Buehrle can get to 200. He is also as dominant a pitcher as I've ever seen in my lifetime. There is no doubt Pedro is a first ballot hall of famer. He was the very best at his position for a period of 5-6 years and has been very good for an additional few years. He was also hampered by being on awful Expos teams early in his career. Plus I think now 250 wins is pretty much a guarantee (since I think that 300 win plateu will be awful tough to get to for pitchers breaking in now). And you are probably right it could even go down to 225 or 200 (that said Buehrle is one of those guys that if he can get back on track has as good a chance as anyone at 200, 250 and a really really outside shot at even 300).

Jim Thome Possibilities: Mark Buehlre (would need to rebound from last season and pitch like he did most of his career and get to that 250 win plateu...which I think is possible if he becomes the Buehrle of old). Rare Possibility: Paul Konerko (would need to be very good for another 6 or 7 years though)

2007 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 15, 2007 -> 05:23 PM) No it doesn't, and Anderson being a complete POS for April and May last year hurt matters even more. He was brought in to be the 5th starter, but with the upside to be a top 5 pitcher in the MLB. People are pissed because he cost so much both in terms of players and in salary. However, I'm still further frustrated by the fact that people can't accept that Young hasn't proven a damn thing in the majors yet, and that they are so willing to just completely give Vazquez away while keeping Garcia, when both the business and baseball sides of the ball suggest keeping Vazquez over Garcia. I'm done talking Vazquez for a while. I've done it waaaaaaaaaaaay to much in the past week, so I'll only just mention his name from time to time until the predictions for the 2007 season come up, upon which he's going to receive an insane amount of slurpage from me. Offensively Anderson was a POS all season. Yes, his splits improved and yes I was one of his biggest defenders but the guy was absolutely horrific at half of the game (the offensive half). There haven't been many rookies I've seen look that bad for that long of a stretch (well at least not ones with all that supposed talent). The guy had completely no clue what he was doing at the plate and even late in the season when his average went up he still looked pretty ugly up there.

New delivery for Zito
Can the Giants claim this is a different Zito and get a refund. That said I am not about to make a big deal about it, but it is odd considering his track record. I say why mess with a good thing. But it could also be a bunch of nothing.
