QUOTE(danman31 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 01:40 PM) He was considered, but missed out. He'd probably be in the 21-25 range if we went that far. He's 22 in low A ball with mediocre results, I'm not thrilled. On the other side, I'm a fan of Richard. Good arm, little old but thats because he was a collegiate player and is a bit more raw than the typical college guy. However, I was impressed when I saw him pitch.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 01:09 PM) With them heading to Boston and us hosting KC for 4 games....hence tomorrow is HUGE. You still have to play the games. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 01:10 PM) Um, one game at a time. Remember, we have 4 in Detroit in two weeks. That's going to be a lot more important then these games are. However, thats 2 weeks into the future. Right now tomorrow's game is the biggest of the season. If we don't play good baseball, 2 weeks from now may not matter. It starts with just going out each and every day, giving it your best and playing fundemental baseball, I've long said we do that we are golden. The bad news is, we've had a hell of a time consistently doing it this season and we've been lucky for the most part that our offense has been ridiculously good.

QUOTE(Wanne @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 01:05 PM) Detroit may be feelin the pressure...5 errors in 2 games. Here we come baby!!! The nice part is this past week, we've actually been the team winning games we had no business to win while for most of the season it was us losing games we should have won.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 01:00 PM) If we win tomorrow AND win 3 of 4 at Detroit, I'll get on this bus. If we get good pitching, no one will stop us. I've said it all year, but I'm yet to be convinced that the good pitching is there yet. Baby steps though and they are making some strides. The ridiculous performance of the pen today was super sweet though.
-
I'm just going to say one thing...the Yanks and BoSox absolutely spanked us a few weeks back. We had our chances against the Yanks, but they still should have taken the series if it weren't for Arod's defense.

Tomorrow is an important step, but bottom line is we go as far as the pitching will take us so we'll have to see if they can continue to throw quality starts and if the pen can do what it did today, well things would definately be better.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) Exactly, a 5 inning, 3 ER game might not look good in terms of ERA, but that will keep you in every game. That's why I get so frustrated when Ozzie leaves the starters in, and they go from 6 innings, 3 ER to 6.1 innings-5 ER. Fact of the matter is we can't go all season with that, but I think the plan (if the team gets into the post-season) will be to use the pen a lot in the playoffs (as opposed to last year) unless our starters turn things around before than. Otherwise tell em to go 5 and hope our pen arms can do the rest.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 12:27 PM) And of course, you can only do what we're trying to do with our pen if you get good starting pitching. The Angels were able to use a strong pen to get them a world series title. There rotation that year was horrid, especially in the post-season, but they got 5 or 6 innings out of the starters and than just turned it to the pen and came back.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) The potential for sickness is there, they just need to be more consistent. Neal Cotts needs to get better and so does Riske, but stuff wise there is no better back-end of a bullpen. If healthy and productive these guys (Thorty, Mac, Jenksy) can be the Nasty Boys Version Deux and than some.
-
Thus far I think this is what Kenny is hoping we can do a lot more often with our pen. Of course we still need Big Bad Bobby to come in and do his thing for an inning.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 12:03 PM) Red Sox are by far my most hated club. It's not even close. Ashlee Simpson hates em too
-
Wow, Mac does that more often and stays heatlhy and I'll forget who Cortes/Lummy were. That was some pitching.
-
I don't care if we blow this, Ozz made the right call here.

QUOTE(GOD @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) then he says he was a great athlete, not saying anything about his baseball game The dude suggested he could play RF. RF

QUOTE(atrain081 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 11:52 AM) i may not like juan all the time, but it's hard to argue that the guy's got a cannon He turned a DP a lot of guys don't turn there.

QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 11:52 AM) You know how I know you're gay, cuz you love Ross Gload.

TIE GAME. NOW BUEHRLE...MAN UP
-
Uribe had a nice double. Now come on BA
-
Wait, did Ozzie just say something to Juan?
-
Buehrle is really struggling. But he's not throwing near as bad as the past two games scores would indicate. Lets score some runs for Mark. For a few years this guy has been our ace and its time the offense picked him up and gets him back (of course they've done it a ton with Mark just giving the lead right back) but lets do it again and this time Marky Mark will hold the Tigers down.
-
One mistake and its 2-0. Wish we turn that DP. Doesn't show in the scorecard, but that hustle mixed with a slow give to Iguchi by Uribe gives them this. Come on Sox, please pick Mark up.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 11:22 AM) I wonder how much confidence he has right now? None...Ozzie does a great job tearing players apart.
-
Last year we turn that. We were so good at helping our pitchers out with the DP, this year, not near as good (got no stat to back it up, just going off my eyes).

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 11:19 AM) I agree with that, but it's still the pitching's fault above anything. No doubt. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 11:20 AM) You have Kenny Rogers pitching. He's a freaking cat on the mound. Nah..he's a tiger
