  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 05:15 PM) Please don't start this again. Freddy doesn't deserve a big zone. Not when you can't throw strikes consistently.
  2. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 05:12 PM) Pods could have had him at home. Why didn't he throw it? Pods couldn't throw out a dead dog. And its a joke that mack continues to start in CF more than once a week. Oh well...we can all enjoy a lack of the post-season or post-season success, that much I guarantee (unless we have a complete turn around of the rotation).
  3. QUOTE(Randar68 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 03:22 PM) And still no posts here detailing that he's been hurt for 2 months... Banged up yes, but I have other reasons for having very little faith in him.

    QUOTE(longshot7 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:28 PM) Talladega Nights is terrific, and I turned Anchorman off halfway through. Best movie of the year so far though is Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny. Saw a preview of it two weeks ago. Amazing. Ya, I saw Talladega last night and was shocked that I liked it. It had some really cheesy parts in it (ie bad jokes that were killed) but overall it was an enjoyable flick. Laughed a ton which was a surprise considering i hate Ferrell. And ya, I saw that preview for The Pick of Destiny and I think I'll be checking that out considering I'm a big Jack Black fan.

    Entourage

    QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 05:39 PM) Let me just reiterate how much I love this show. Last night's episode "Vegas Baby, Vegas" was another in a long line of ridiculously good episodes. Their mixing of music and scene is amazingly well done. This show is nothing special in terms of having something to say, but is just really, really fun. Last night, when Drama came out of no where and clocked Seth Green's buddy in the face, followed by a fade in of Rob Zombie's "Dead Girl Superstar" was just awesome. I adore Entourage, and if you haven't seen an episode, the first and second seasons are available on DVD, and the third is On Demand. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 01:24 AM) I have to agree with the casino scenes; Ari losing it was absolutely hillarious. Could you imagine how pissed he would have been if Vince lost that hand? Ya, Ari is so freaking funny.
  6. He has to prove he can hit to once again be considered a prospect, imo. Right now I would not rank him in the top 15.
  7. He's been doing great and if you check out our interview with John Sickels, you'll see that he thinks Lance will be in the majors next year.
  8. QUOTE(Young Gun @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 01:03 PM) Bender "Bending" Rodriguez. Classic. I :wub Sandlot
  9. Bottom line, when your not getting it done people are going to look at things and try to analyze why you aren't getting it done. One thing is obvious about Freddy...he's throwing more than a few MPH slower and in Buehrle's case maybe he's down in velocity but it seems like he's leaving his pitches up.
  10. Twas me. This is my first post since I gave myself a prolonged suspension (ie rest from the site). I wrote a story a while ago, but I agree a cool history section would be neat.
  11. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 07:35 PM) Well after a rough start at Baltimore (and he did get a win) and a rough 1st tonight, Jon turns it around to toss 6 quality innings against a damn good offensive team and pick up a big road win. Jon is now 8-0 in his last 10 starts, with the team 9-1 in those games, and moved to 12-3 while getting his ERA below 5 all the way to.......4.99!! Way to bounce back Jon, you've been the stopper for nearly 2 months now and kudos to you for showing that you aren't a worthless piece of crap. Big Jon has been awesome. Now if only the rest of the rotation could turn there season's around like jon did 10 starts ago.
  12. Wow, Dye just hammered it but right at the 2nd baseman for a DP. Thats the second time he's totally creamed the ball with runners on but has had nothing to show. Hopefully AJ can pick him up again. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 06:10 PM) April - 7.11 ERA May - 5.40 ERA June - 4.50 ERA So basically, he's had only one good month. Then there's every other year of his major league career which have been dog droppings. And if he'd pitched this season like a #3 starter instead of a #5 starter, we'd be at least 4 games better in the standings, and still contending for the divison. That, I'll give you. Compared to the rest of this stinking rotation, he's looked pretty good since the break. Pretty good...aside from Lackey and Liriano I couldn't name a starter in the baseball thats been better than Jon over the past 6 or 8 starts.
  13. This is where we could really put this game away. Come on JD
  14. Paulie and Thome have both reached base all 4 Ab's. Both are looking nice and fresh.
  15. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 06:04 PM) I know he's had some good starts of late, but he's had more bad outings than good ones this season. That doesn't make for much of an ace. He's still Judy in my book, with an ERA appropriate for a #5 starter. Ya, afterall, take away the first two months of the season and no starter on our staff is even close to him. Than here was last year where he was our best and most consistent pitcher. Without Jon we'd be about 4 more games back. He's been the only going doing anything in this rotation since the break. Afterall since like July 6th...Javier Vazquez and Count have 2 wins. They are the only starters to have wins IIRC, aside from Jon who is 6-0 and we'll see if he can go to 7-0.
  16. Thome looks like a professional hitter today. A double down the 3rd base line, a deep double, and now a clean single plus a walk.
  17. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 06:02 PM) That should be it for Garland. Except for 1 pitch, he was very good yet again, and should get the win with a little help from the bullpen. His only subpar start (of late) was the last outing in which he was battling a viral infection. He truly is our "ace".
  18. QUOTE(G&T @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 05:57 PM) Almost an amazing play by Crede, still a great job saving a double. Yep, that save let Jon get out of the inning with one outside fastball that Glaus rolled over.
  19. Jon Garland gave up 2 earned runs as far as I'm concerned in 6 innings and made just one mistake (to Glaus). Way to battle jon and a damn solid 6 inning performance. To our ace Oh and I say this becuase there is absolutely no reason to have Jon come out in the 7th.
  20. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 05:58 PM) How many homers has Glaus hit against Garland? 3 of Glaus's 4 hits off Jon have left the building.
  21. Wow, if Crede made that throw that would have been ridiculous.
  22. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 05:00 PM) That's just it, and alot of his numbers this year have been in bunches, his consistency has not been good. Seems like he is all or nothing. I think he's been far more consistent. Last year I can think of a lot of times where he would go into some major funks when he couldn't hit a breaking ball to save his life. He still isn't good with breaking balls, but he's gotten better and because of that he usually is capable of doing something in pretty much every game.
  23. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 04:54 PM) Very true, and I'd like to have the 05 Iguchi back as well. I actually think Tadahito has been much much better this year than he was last year.
  24. QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) I like Scioscia too, but he isn't here Jason. If the players can't get the job done, then the general manager needs to get new players. It's that simple. Ask the players what they think of Guillen. That will open a lot of people's eyes. That said, I like Razor Shines ... a lot. I think that perceptoin with the players is starting to change, but I couldn't say that for sure. I know a couple people that aren't big Ozzie fans at all that are on the Sox 25 man roster. I can't go anymore into it, but it seems like there has been a change. However, just cause a select few feel that way, doesn't necessarily mean the majority aren't completely with him. And I double that on Razor Shines. He's going to be a big league manager very soon (maybe as early as next year, too bad Ozzie will be back and we won't have him). I hate saying it cause I thought Ozzie pulled the right buttons last year and I didn't mind when he was wrong when he was being agressive. This year he's not doing that. I see no reason to ever play Mack in CF, he's not that. If Ozzie wants someone, than ask Kenny and I'm sure Kenny would have been able to find him a backup CF (we all know Kenny does all he can to get whatever Ozz asks of). I'm of the theory that Ozzie gets away with murder right now because the majority of the fan base loves him (not necessarily the die hards, cause most of the diehards I talk to on a continuos basis are not major fans of Ozzie) and obviously we have a world series with him (also ties to the whole fan base). Most managers that did some of the things he did this year (between the "f**" comment, Garland/Tracey incidents and than the much more quiet Tracey incident and I would be hard pressed to think of any manager not named Ozzie that would still have his job).
