Angels were dumb enough to pitch to Frank and he had a single that tied the game for about an inning late in last night's game. Also drew a walk off ROdriguez in the 9th (leadoff variety) but than Krod struck out the side. I actually gave Frank a big ass ovation when they announced him and I'll be doing the same today. Its funny too, cause I've booed him on ocassions as well.

Mirabeli is not an adequate replacement as an everyday player. I wonder if there are any catchers out there that are decent enough who would slide through waivers.

Why in the heck with him coming back from a shoulder injury would you have him throw a 122 pitch simulated game (or do they count the warmup tosses as pitches??). QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 2, 2006 -> 01:04 AM) Yeah, Mulder's definitely been real bad this year. Plus, the Sox can't afford to take a chance on a 'reclamation' project. I don't know why you posted the whole reliever list. I'd say our bullpen is set next year with Jenks, MacDougal, Thorton, and Cotts already there, along with a small shot of Riske being resigned. And then there's Boone Logan and Sean Tracey who will probably be given shots to win the last spot in the 'pen. None of those OFers look too appealing, either. We'll have a spot open in LF, and that really might be it. I could see the Sox standing pat and going with Sweeney in left. I think Kenny might go nuts to get a real dominant starting pitcher (Oswalt?). Ya, I think it will be trade market or bust with maybe a bench signing or a potential swing man. Whether its Oswalt, moving one or two of our starters, going after a guy like Crawford and/or Oswalt or whomever it seems like the best way to potentially fill our needs would be via trade.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 11:58 PM) Fields, Broadway, Sweeney in that order I assume. Cheater

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 11:51 PM) Just use Brandon McCarthy and Brian Anderson. Can we use Jenks too and Lumsden and Cortes and hell just pick Garza and Carillo since we could have had those guys (not saying we should have took them, just saying it would be nice to have some good names on the list). After about 3 our list is toast.

We are having a hell of a time right now. We've came to the conclusion that are system is absolutely HORRID.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 04:25 PM) Having Fields lead off would be pretty freakin ugly imo. If he plays next season, I'd expect him to have an obp of about .330 with at least 180 k's. Josh will hit for some power right away if he gets up here, but I expect himt to have a rougher start than BA did, I really do. Ya, Fields in the leadoff spot would equal a disaster.

I think with the way Ozzie manages and if he is our manager we got to get a new speed guy to replace Pods. Carl Crawford is the perfect fit, the only question is whether we'll be able to make a deal that the Drays would have interest in. I think we could use one of our starters to get prospects, than move some of those prospects and some of our own (not named Bmac) to land Crawford. Following that move Pods and maybe someone else for a prospect that could maybe help out our pen or be a 6th starter option. With the freed up salary, maybe make one other move and who knows maybe Kenny goes out and moves two starters with one bringing back prospects and the other bringing back another starter.

QUOTE(JERMAINEDYE4MVP @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 03:49 PM) When did I say he's an ACE? I'm saying insert B-McC until both Buehrle and Garcia are rested enough. Dude, can you please stick to the topic and not talk in abreviation? Thanks I was just answering that posters question. I think its not a bad idea to shake things up, but I don't know whether the pitchers would realistically just accept going on the DL unless they really were worn down. Plus I do think that its hard to get Brandon out there considering it would take some time for him to build his stamina. It may not be a bad idea though and I think that if we knew he could go out and do what he did last year in our rotation, it would be a no brainer to get him in the rotation. The problem is, with the Sox not picking up another reliever, they may not be able to do exactly that.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) Have you played strawberry farms down there? great course...I think some old Angel like Bobby Grich or Gary DiSarcina co-owns it. Once, nice course. My dads friend was the attorney on that project. I think its Bobby Grich and a few other business men. ONly time I played it was with my dad though cause otherwise its too pricey. Tijeras creek is nice and when I was younger they had a pretty sweet junior rate where it was a flat fee for all the golf you wanted to do over the summer.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 12:43 AM) I can see why football rookies get paid more than baseball/basketball because shorter careers in general and contracts arent guaranteed.... But the amount that these guys are being paid is still ridiculous. I dont think they should be making half of what they do in there signing bonues. For example, Vernon Davis beind the highest paid at his position before ever taking a snap. Its why I think the smarter teams move down, take multiple guys and spread there cap room out much more even and end up having the cap space to actually resign there younger players that do succeed to extensions.

Mark...I'm going to wear your jersey tonight at the Angel game..make me proud.

QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 07:17 PM) Tendinitis in the right wrist. He had a cortisone shot in Chicago today. I have that in both wrists. I had surgery on one. I will probably have it on the other this winter. You can function but it can be hard to grip things. The cortisone may help for the time being but eventually, it will have to be addressed. I play golf three times a week if that gives you some idea of how functional you can be but hitting 400 ft. bombs is a little harder than hitting a golf ball. That may be what I've had. I messed my wrist up playing football but it healed for the most part and now I'm getting some symptoms similar to what I looked up on web md. The past few months I've been playing golf about 3 times a week so I wonder if that has anything to do with it. Oh despite all that golf (for the first time in my life) I still stink at times while at other times I'll hit an ocassional 300 yard drive right down the fairway, pitch onto the middle of the green and get a par.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 01:14 PM) Rhino is so touristy and overrated its disgusting. The guys outnumber the girls, and the prices are outrageous. In Vegas my picks are Jaguar and Crazy Horse Too. CHT gives you the best lapdances. CHT is the other top notch one in Vegas, imo (was there for a short time as my strip club advisors, aka friends, decided Rhino was better). Wasn't in there long enough though to have an opinion and I saw both on the same night. I thought the "girls" were better at the Rhino but I couldn't tell ya guys anything about VIP service or private dances or nothing like that (way too cheap for that). I liked the fact that I could smoke my cigar at the Rhino though (I assume you can do it pretty much anywhere in Vegas).

QUOTE(Jake @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 04:42 PM) And I'm going to be laughing just as hard then. I'm not saying I agree with the comments at all, but I still found the whole thing hillarious. In fact he's already moved ahead of Wil Ferrell in my "Funny Man" rankings.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 1, 2006 -> 05:32 AM) Pfftt... I'm far, faaaarrrr from the most knowledgeable around here. But I do tend to know something about most things seedy. You know I'm the last to ask, considering we had a road trip where we were staying right next to the strip club district and didn't realize it until the last night All I can vouge for is the Rhino in Vegas.

QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 10:46 PM) I used to watch it a ton before the merge. I never really liked WWF i was more of a WCW guy. I LOVED Sting and the NWO wolf pack! Those guys were Bad Ass! Scott Hall was my favorite. Too bad he had a ton of problems or at least thats what I heard. Of course I never know what the hell is true and what isn't. -
QUOTE(loltrain @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) I find it hilarious that Motownsports is considered to be full of Kool-Aid drinking people mapping out a parade route...when nearly half the board goes insane and talks about how the team is collapsing after EVERY LOSS. That description couldn't be any more inaccurate, if anything it is full of fans who are used to failure and still half expect it. Anyways, tonights loss was not too suprising, the Tigers main weakness all year is a great tendency to flail at breaking pitches out of the strike zone, so Casey Fossum looked like Cy Young. Edit: Honestly, I would consider Motownsports at this moment just as pessimistic as this board, and we're 7.5 games up in the division, I only post here because...well shockingly enough I like talking about baseball, and I find this forum to be mostly smart fans who know what they're talking about, Motownsports is quite similar in my opinion. We like having ya and most of the Tiger fans here. You guys bring another perspective and add to the intelligent discussion on this site.

I'm sorry, but that was a stellar deal for the Cubs. I've watched Itzuris play a whole lot and when he's healthy I think he's better than Uribe. However, he doesn't havethe power Uribe has or the arm, but Itzuris is an absolute STUD at SS (so is Juan in my book). I've watched Itzuris a lot and he's the type of guy that while he may not draw a ton of walks, he'll be able to hit .280-.300 although I'd be the first to admit his injuries have had an effect on him. But you guys drastically under-rate this guy (and this is when people will say that I over-rate him). There is a reason why teams were going nuts to acquire him. Put it this way, if someone called me and offered Itzuris for El Duque I'd have done it in a heart beat. Maddux isn't all that much better than Duque at this point. He's a mediocre pitcher and you were able to get a guy that plays stellar defense and is not near as bad of a hitter as a lot of you all say (plus he has a ton of speed).
