  1. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 12:19 PM) Oliver Perez + Robbie Hernandez for Xavier Nady Isn't Nady basically the same player as Craig Wilson? Nady is a better player, imo. But I like Xavier Nady. Considering Duaner Sanchez is out for a while, this is a good move by the Mets, imo. I also think Phillips was onto things when he mentioned that they could enter the Soriano talks to replace Nady if they really wanted to.
  2. So Oliver Perez for Xavier Nady is apparently in talks or done. Can't figure out which.
  3. Hey R&W. What happened with Loretta. First he was traded than not, but who are they talking to about Loretta?
  4. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 08:47 AM) http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/press_r...sp&c_id=cin I gotta say the Reds are not playing around. They are looking to go make some noise come Sep-Oct. Lohse will probably thrive in the NL. And of course good move for the Twins considering they got rid of dead weight and got a pretty good looking pitcher in Ward (Reds third round draft pick with impressive numbers this season) who will probably turn into a stud for them considering their farm system and our luck. (right Flash ) Loshe has a good arm so its not a bad move for there sake. They also acquired Kormeil.

    I-Pod help!

You should probably look in itunes and make sure its reading the ipod. From there you should just click around in your settings and see what the settings are if it auto updates the ipod based on your library or whatever. But you don't hit import library to get things on the ipod. Just look on your itunes and if your ipod is connected and synced in you should see the ipod (mine says Jason's Ipod) and than right click that and hit update.
  6. So I was sick yesterday all day and didn't eat anything (stomach was hurting) but a little chicken chow mein, some 7-up, and a piece of unbuttered bread. So this morning I woke up starving and heated up the chow mein for breakfast...wow, thats some good breakfast food. Thought I'd share cause it was damn tasty.
  7. Series Preview: White Sox @ Royals By Tony Mazzuca Soxtalk.com It has been a very frustrating two weeks for the White Sox, even after the recent series win over the Baltimore Orioles. The Sox will look to get back on track as they travel to take on the Kansas City Royals for a three game set. The Sox need to get the pitching back in gear, and carry over the hits they put up in Baltimore. This series will close out the month of July and carry into August, so a fresh start might be just what this team needs...Click Here For More Info on the Series
  8. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 10:23 AM) It's true. Buster reported the same thing. I posted this in the three way thread. If the BoSox want Jones, they have to part with Lester. That's the main reason this deal isn't done yet. The Braves want Lester. If they got Crisp, Hansen and Lester I'd do it in a heartbeat, but I don't know if they could get all that. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 10:24 AM) The Braves offered Andruw Jones to the Red Sox for Coco Crisp, Jon Lester, and Craig Hansen. The Red Sox didn't hesitate to reject this offer and close off all talks with the Braves. What are the Braves thinking? Thats a fair trade considering the type of talent Jones is. Its a lot to give up as well if your the Red Sox. But if your the Braves and are going to move a star you better get a lot in return.
  9. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 10:20 AM) Im just trying to figure out what would be mutually beneficial to another team. The astros were looking to maybe move Ensberg, maybe they want fields as the future? Maybe they would want another starter which is needed. Can we afford to trade a bat for some pitching? Just heard a rumor of Andrew Jones to the Red Sox? No way Atlanta does that deal. Lester is cheap so that would free up some serious salary and I know they have thought a long time about moving Jones. At the same time Jones is a proven super star, but you got to like the way Lester has pitched thus far. I actually think thats a real bad deal for the Red Sox, unless they are working on something that gets them some legitimate starting. No Josh Beckett is not an ace, not right now he ain't.
  10. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 06:31 AM) Here is a quote from MLB.com: Ya, its Mack.
  11. Odd move, but Casey knows how to handle the bat and is a pretty good hitter. He may not hit for power but the man can get basehits. Of course they have Dmitri back so Dmitri gives him some left handed pop too.
  12. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 10:07 AM) I'm not familiar with Thomas Pauley, but David Pauley cannot touch the upper 90's. He's more your low-nineties fastball, with a solid change and curveball complimenting it. So I'm guessing they are infact different. Alright, I didn't think Thomas was in the Red Sox system. I assume he got hurt or something because he didn't pitch in 05. He was a 2nd round pick of the Reds and I saw him pitch again Winston Salem and wow could he throw gas.
  13. Figured we could have a new thread on this. Kenny has shown interest with him in the past and I'm not saying its very realistic, but Olney was on talking about Lidge and said it didn't seem he had much value on the trade market and than another report said the Astro's owner has pretty much demanded he would be moved. Olney went on to say teams are really concerned with him right now becuase he's all messed up. I took that to mean he's mentally screwed up right now and usually a change of scenario can be exactly what fixes a team. The only problem is we don't really need a guy like Lidge, but it does give us the option of moving Brandon into the rotation and makes the pen very deep. Plus, if you get value for Lidge and get things out of him, you can always swing talent for other talent in the off-season. So while this may not make sense long term, it could be a decent short term plan where he helps us, rebuilds his value and than we swing him for more (especially if its true and the value for lidge in terms of players given up is quite low).
  14. Well some guy on cold pizza just said there is no chance Oswalt gets traded. Ensberg to the Padres involving Linebrink may make some sense with Lidge than getting dealt.
  15. This would be the type of guy that could come in while Bmac goes into the rotation or down into AAA and eventually moves into the rotation.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 09:38 AM) Why wouldnt they do a deal like that? Vaz belongs in the NL, especially the NL central. He could be a middle of the rotation guy in that division. You trade Vaz for someone, a reliever like Lidge, then move BMAC into the rotation and we already improved a ton. That type of deal makes them a little more likely to move a starter like Oswalt (although I think its horrificly stupid to do). If we are serious about moving McCarthy to the rotation than it may not be a bad idea.
  17. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 11:28 PM) Three way's are always good, whatever way you look at it. Boston Herald: The Red Sox are attempting to strike a three-way deal with the Rockies and Padres, with third baseman Mike Lowell perhaps shipped out of town and first baseman Ryan Shealy arriving here from the Rockies. The Sox also would presumably obtain a more-than-reputable starter. Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox starter David Pauley also was mentioned as part of the Red Sox’ package, although the right-hander was roughed up yesterday, hitting four batters and allowing five runs, three earned, in four innings in the PawSox’ 9-5 loss to Buffalo at McCoy Stadium. Is David Pauley different than Thomas Pauley? I ask that cause I know I"ve seen a Pauley pitch in the minors and the guy had an insane arm (threw in the upper 90's).
  18. First off, THe Orioles are complete idiots if thats true so I have my doubts as to whether thats true. Maybe they wanted more than Tejada, who knows. But if its true, get on the phone Kenny and offer them Brandon McCarthy and whoever else they want for Oswalt (if they also are intrigued with Garcia/Buehrle/Vazquez) than give them both. If its Buehrle/Bmac than thats it, no more, if its Garcia or Vazquez and McCarthy I'd still give up Broadway or Fields and a guy like Valido. Oswalt is an ace and would give us what we need and would help us more than just this year.
  19. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 10:25 PM) I think Art Kuysner is higher on the BP depth chart than Hermy Ya, everything I've seen is that he has not impressed down in Charlotte. I wish he could, but it doesn't seem like he can.
  20. QUOTE(iamshack @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) I can't believe the Stros were thinking of dealing Oswalt, Ensberg, and Everett to the O's for Tejada. Are you kidding me??? And the reason they came to their senses was because they were afraid the O's were going to deal Oswalt to the Rangers, which would be a PR nightmare. That's just insane. Where did you see that they actually included Oswalt in talks? That would be horribly stupid. And if they did even mention Oswalt, that deal should have been done. The O's should have grabbed Santana when they had the chance.
  21. QUOTE(T R U @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 10:12 PM) Theres nothing wrong with wearing your hat like that Its one thing if your wearing it in public or with friends, another when its on the scoreboard.
  22. The only move worth making is one that instills life into our starting rotation. No other move will matter, even if we acquired Tejada and Soriano.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 08:00 PM) I think I agree with you that we are basically at the "This pitching staff is ungodly talented, all we can do now is hope for the best" stage, but there's probably 1 more thing we can do to help them: Actually put a defense behind them that can get outs. Especially in that outfield. And that means playing Brian all the time, and maybe finding a replacement for Podsednik. All season long I've clammored that there is no reason (no matter how bad BA had been offensively) to allow Mack to play CF. Its just such a severe downgrade and no amount of hitting (unless Mack is Griffey in his prime or Pujols) would make up for the downgrade we have defensively (Mack may get a few more hits a week than BA) but Mack lets more than that drop as hits and thats not acceptable. Its not Mack's fault, the onus falls on our manager who has done a horrible job with this. I should also note that if it were up to me Pods would not be a part of the organization anymore (I don't dislike him, but he hurts this team in a lot of ways, although I'd be the first to admit if he started to steal like he did for most of last year, I'd be perfectly happy to live with the poorer defense).
  24. I think Jones is a total superstar, but I don't see why we would need to replace Anderson. We don't need offense, sure we could use a legit left fielder and that will come in the off-season but the only thing this team can get that would turn us into a world series competitor is our current pitching staff to start pitching like they are capable of. I have major doubts though, since I don't think an entire staff can just decide not to stink. My only hope is that Vaz figures things out, Garland is good and Contreras is an ace and that we hope we can stay in the games that Buehrle/Garcia pitch.
