Thome not going for the Long Ball?
QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 11:27 PM) He has 3 Hr's since July 16th. After having 10 each in April and May and 8 in July ( 6 of those being in the first 2 weeks. ) He has leveled off of late . I think he may be trying to beat those shifts and not pulling as much. He improved so much at hitting opposite field since April. Maybe saving his last wind for October. What does everyone else think? Maybe a Sore back? Maybe that is having him push singles and doubles instead of going for solo bombs. I can't vouge for that, but I do think he's become a more complete hitter as of late. I don't have any stats to back it up, just what I've seen from my eyes (and thats typically what I use to evaluate things). QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) Rivera is absolute murder on lefties. For example, this year, lefties are hitting .194 against Rivera, with 0 dingers and a dominant .451 OPS, while Righties have a non-great but better .254, 2 home runs, and .652 OPS. Lefties simply have no chance against him. The 2seamer/cutter are freaking murder on lefties. The man knows how to tie em up inside.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) I really don't think it's the biggest series of the season. It has to be. We have one final shot at making the division a race. It may not be the biggest series of the season, but up until this point it is. We'll have plenty more series that loom large as the season gets closer and closer to the end.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 11, 2006 -> 01:04 PM) This is a bigger issue then is made of it, IMO. If you pay for it, you should get it, PERIOD. I just know one thing...I pay 150 bucks (or whatever the early bird price is) I should be able to get every freaking Sox game I want to see. Better yet, if the games are in high def, I think they should find a way to make the high def feed available to everyone (I can dream can't I). Either way, one of the biggest games of the year on a Friday and its not available, total bust.

Broadway SL Pitcher of Week
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 11:21 AM) Sure Lance is going to have a great curveball and a very good changeup to go with his low 90's fastball that he can locate, but he sucks. I want guys that throw 100, they look cool and always stay healthy of course. I mean, after all, throwing 100 doesn't put stress on your arm, shoulder, or elbow. Technically whether you throw 86 or 100 it really doesn't matter that much, its all about the mechanics. Some guys throw 99 and look like Matt Thornton, other guys barely touch 90 and look like they are trying to throw 110. Mechanics, body type, tons of things come into play so I'm not big on saying just cause you throw hard your more likely to get injured. In fact, I bet if someone looked up the numbers of injuries, you'd find out that 90 MPH FB pitchers get hurt just as often as a guy that throws 98.

QUOTE(farmteam @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 10:41 AM) I had thought it might mean that, but for some reason I took it as "Someone born July 18th will be a much better than someone born April 22nd" instead of "A 24 year-old prospect in Low A isn't much of a prospect." Heh. Whoah....April 22nd is a magical day

Top 3 web gems in White Sox history
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 09:57 AM) I can't believe people could lessen how good Iguchi's play was, while all Fisk had to do was catch a ball and apply a tag to two guys running right at him. I lessened his play a bit, but it was an amazing play. I think its >>> Fisk's play but thats me. I just know that hands down the inning Uribe had to finish the world series and the inning Rowand had in New York were the two best I've ever witnessed and its not even close in my mind. But thats me.

Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson
All I can say is, next thing someone's gonna tell me Kristen Kreuk isn't hot. WOW, it makes so much more sense why you think Crede and Uribe suck at defense too. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 12:05 AM) Natalie Portman is amazing. love to see your top 5, shoota! 1. Bledner 2. Toaster Oven 3. Bbq 4. Dishwasher 5. Ice Cub Tray

Always Sunny in Philadelphia
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 10, 2006 -> 08:29 AM) well, it would have been hard to start watching last season, because it didnt exist. They lied, last season was the season premier. It was a pilot than and wasn't a full season. That show and starved were two of there new comedies and apparently "Its always Sunny" one out. Danny Devito wasn't in that show, he's new to this season.

2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 05:02 PM) Joe Crede is only 3 years younger than Alex Rodriguez and doens't have anywhere near the track record that A-Rod has. Alex Rodriguez is the best 3B in baseball and probably still the best player in baseball despite the down season. A-Rod >> Crede, I'd say there's much more of a debate between choosing A-Rod or David Wright (23)/Miggy Cabrera(23) than the 28 year old Crede. Alex Rodriguez is likely still a .300, 45/50 and 120/130 guy even if he doesn't reach those numbers this year. It's just another case of ESPN hating on A-Rod any chance they get.

Top 3 web gems in White Sox history
Rowands display out in CF against the Yanks in one inning was more impressive than any of those 3 plays, imo. Guchi's play was great, but total luck. Uribe's best play was actually the one to win the game (that was absolutely insane, no other SS throws him out) although I'd admit Uribe into the stands was ridiculously awesome two. Those two plays should be combined like Rowand's two plays and are by far the two greatest plays I've seen in White Sox history.

2006 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 09:57 PM) I know there have been talks about Aybar's attitude, but I really do like the kid as a potential player. Aybar is a couple years younger than Betemit, has very similar minor league numbers IMO (High 700's OPS), has higher batting averages in recent years, and much lower strikeout totals. Braves management has been raving that they can't believe the Dodgers made that trade. They said Aybar is better, quicker, younger, etc and they even got Baez in the deal as well.

Broadway SL Pitcher of Week
QUOTE(Misplaced_Sox @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 10:44 PM) What makes you think he can be a two or three guy? Just curious. He really does not have anything amazing in his arsenal. A plus curve but if its missing, majors can hit his fastball for sure. Ummm, one of the best curve balls in the minors (arguably the best in the southern league) mixed in with a major league caliber changeup (still developing) and a darn solid FB (I don't get where you guys say he doesn't have one, he easily throws a major league average fastball, velocity wise). I seriously laugh at everyone that thinks he throws everything but the kitchen sink at guys.

Andre Ethier
I'm a huge fan of Ethier. Guy has an explosive bat and while he isn't the greatest in the field right now, I've seen him make a few great plays and he has the ability to turn into a pretty good outfielder. Considering Bradley's been hurt, its looking like Coletti ripped Beane off.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 09:36 AM) I had the best emulator in the world for SNES... i think it was from emulationstation.com or something like that... it was perfect. i have a super nintendo i hook up from time to time... and pilotwings is always perfect, but ill be damned if that helicopter level isnt hard! I downloaded Znes and than found the pilotwings rom. I am having a hell of a time parachuting. I got my stage 1 and did perfect on the first two parts (plane and rocket) but than did horrid on the parachute and failed. I had a problem figuring out how to break, but finally realized z and x are the a and b buttons.

The guy's wearing a bullet proof vest with about 4 guns and an assault rifle in the car and tries to resist arrest. I'm sorry, this prick needs to be locked up for a long time. He's not a football player, he's a thug and needs to rot in a cell.
