FutureSox All Prospect Team: Pitchers
FutureSox All Prospect Team: Pitchers By Josh Wolff With the acquisition of thumper Jim Thome, the Sox not only had to trade fan favorite Aaron Rowand, but also top pitching prospects Gio Gonzalez and Daniel Haigwood. The Sox still have 2005 first round pick Lance Broadway and Ray Liotta, but the pitching depth has been decimated. Bobby Jenks and Brandon McCarthy did not qualify as prospects for this team...MORE

2006 Chicago White Sox Season Tickets
QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 11:29 AM) Ya. Jason really went out on limb with that prediction. I said this in August/September and people laughed at me. It was in discussion for what would happen if the Sox won the world series and I talked about the drastic changes a playoff run would make for the Sox. I also mentioned just how much a World Series would change. People thought I was nuts when I put up those numbers. It wasn't like I did it over the off-season or anything.

The Bullpen Quandry Revisted
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 12:41 PM) Looks like he suddenly figured something out in 2005. His WHIP and KK/B numbers improved dramatically. So the Trib was wrong too. Guess I shouldn't be too surprised. Probably another Gonzalez excerpt. He made a change to his arm angle last season. His velocity didn't increase, but he was able to improve his command as well as movement. He opened up the Sox eyes late in the season, that said, he's only pitched 4 games in A ball. But if you look at his 05 numbers he only walked 4 guys in Great Falls (35.1 innings). That is a big improvement to his past numbers.

The Bullpen Quandry Revisted
Whoever the writer is WRONG. Logan was drafted by this originization and he's spent his entire career (sans 4 games) in Great Falls. Had a career ERA of 6.10 before he made adjustments last season and posted a 3.31 ERA in 21 games at Great Falls (no point in showing his Warthog numbers since it was such a small sample).

2006 Chicago White Sox Season Tickets
Oh ya. I think I was the one who said this team would draw at least 2.7 million, possibly as much as 3 million. I'm feeling good about the prediction.

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 15, 2006 -> 09:40 AM) Ok, dumb question here... hoe do you guys pay for all this? Over the years its been out of my pocket. However the few ads you see on the site has given me enough funds to try and expand this thing. That said I'm still in the hole over the years, but its a hobby and I enjoy doing it.

Who do you think is going to be playing at B-ham?
QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 08:34 PM) I'd guess that Sweeney and Fields probably start the year in AA, but maybe they decide to bump them up since they are two of our better prospects and they're both having a decent spring. They'll be in Charlotte. Sweeney being healthy teamed up with the way he's hitting this spring has sealed that. Fields will be in Charlotte cause he stepped up big over the 2nd half, plus Micah Schnurstein will fit in nicely at Bham. Rogo will also be in Charlotte.

The Bullpen Quandry Revisted
QUOTE(forrestg @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 09:58 PM) Last year El Duque told Contreras to pitch like a Cuban and encouraged Jose to change his arm angle and the results are forever history. Logan is now forever better. One major difference. Contreras throws in the mid 90's with the best splitter in the game.

QUOTE(OilCan @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 09:44 PM) Just joined......how 'bout a Blackhawks joint as well?!?!?? The domain is owned, but I think thats going to be one of our last ventures, simply because I think its going to take an established network to draw enough Blackhawk fans. That said if we think people want it, we'll do what we can to make it happen.

The Bullpen Quandry Revisted
QUOTE(OilCan @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) Boone Logan, your table is ready. Its amazing. He makes one change to his arm angle and has a shot of going from pretty much rookie ball (where he wasn't anything special) to the majors. I think that says just how bad our pen situation really is (at least the back of the pen).

The Bullpen Quandry Revisted
The Bullpen Quandry Revisited By Joseph Slowik One of the major concerns on this White Sox squad entering Spring Training was the state of the bullpen. After the team jettisoned Luis Vizcaino and Damaso Marte, depth became an issue for a team with expectations of a World Series repeat. Now the situation is even worse with the return of Dustin Hermanson’s back pain, which places his potential contributions to the club this season in serious doubt.MORE

USA vs. Korea
Team USA was at my school (Fullerton) taking practice. Most of the area was blocked off, but they hit some bombs. Watched for maybe 10 minutes and than as I left campus on my way to my car (which is next to the baseball fields), Derrek Lee drove past in his Escalade. On Monday the Japanese Team was practicing and Ichiro was chilling out on the walk way. Its kind of cool. Makes me a little more into this WBC thing. USA better step it up on Thursday.

Who do you think is going to be playing at B-ham?
We'll have a really good idea in about 2 weeks, but its going to be tough to tell, especially with the Sox signing quite a few veterans for Charlotte (in order to make them more competitive). You should see Ray Liotta, Broadway and eventually Tyler Lumsden (our 3 best starting pitching prospects) there for a considerable part of the season. Liotta will definately start in AA while Broadway and Lummy will probably get some time in WS. In Lummy's case he's going to have to show he's healthy, if he is he has as much upside as any pitcher in our org (not that it says a lot). Valido and Schnurstein will also be there and I think Barons fans will like both of them.

New Site: TalkBears.com
Actually I big10talk was on my mind for a while (I always start with leagues/teams I like, makes it more fun for me). I like college sports and I have some ideas in my mind. The next release of sites will probably occur around May, but that all depends on how the new sites do.

Who's Hot Or Not: Spring Training Edition
QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 03:53 AM) I don't really see how Joe Borchard is not hot, but Ross Gload is hot. Borchard is hitting .227/.292/.545 with 2 HR and 5 RBI, while Gload is hitting .250/.318/.500 with 1 HR and 4 RBI. Not much of a difference there.. Nice article nonetheless. This was wrtitten on Sunday and at that point Gload was hitting .333 IIRC and Borch was in the .100. It just goes to show you how quickly stats change.

OFFICIAL Bracket Rant Thread!!
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:41 PM) You're a Southern Cal kid, how good is UCLA? Very Good. I'm really thinking of having them in the final 4. Everyone here (aside from rowand) slams the west coast schools, but they'll be the ones impressed when they see UCLA go deep into the tourney. I know I wouldn't want to play them. They are peaking at just the right time and have quite a few different options and have improved there depth thanks to mid-season injuries that forced other guys to step up there roles.

Oakland Regional
QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) I got SDSU taking down the Zags. I don't think Xavier has enough weapons without those two guys. The Aztecs are pretty good. Either way I have IU or SDSU going down to Gonzaga.

Right now my final 4: Texas Memphis (Thinking real hard about UCLA being there though) Uconn Nova Texas vs Uconn in the finals Uconn winning it all If its not Texas in the final 4, my pick is Iowa being there and not Duke.

USA vs. Korea
QUOTE(rangercal @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) f*** espn. This is so stupid. Instead we have to watch linda kohn and her big f***ing horse teeth. Its totally lame. They should have just continued coverage or made this game at 7:30 (pacific time) and than there wouldn't have been any layover. Afterall if they have a doubleheader in basketball usually one game overlaps another by a little bit. MLB should do something about this. Maybe they can create there own channel (like the NFL and NBA have) and broadcast the US games live there next year.

OFFICIAL Crazy Upsets Thread!!
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 07:23 AM) A&M and Kent are the 12's to watch......A&M is talented and playing very well, and the Golden Flashes (who you will remember as the team that destroyed your bracket going to the elite 8 in 2002 with Antonio Gates) are a veteran team with the offensive firepower to score 60 points plus on Pittsburgh, and lord knows that's the kind of game Pittsburgh isn't a fan of. Utah State and Montana will both get blown out IMO. Utah State is better than you think. They are a very solid mid-major.
