QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) They might be the deepest league when comparing good teams to the amount of teams in the league, as far as final four contenders go, the big east is superior to the big 10. Ya...Villanova and Uconn >>> anything the big 10 can throw out. I do think the Big 10 could take on the likes of Pitt though. Just like last year the big 10 was down but had the 2nd best team in the country and MSU (damn good team, still are this year, but they aren't playing like it).

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) Big 12 10-year team: Hinrich Collison LaFrentz Ford Fizer Guess what? All three Kansas players were from the state of Iowa. Ya, I forget who but the Hawks supposedly pretty much had one of Hinrich/LaFrentz locked up or I remember hearing that. Don't remember which on. It killed me that year that KU went deep (w/Hinrich and Collison) both not playing in Iowa. I want the states best guys playing for the Hawks or ISU, case closed. So Tinsley should be a 2nd or 3rd team guy. He was darn good for the Clones and I still say that team got robbed by the home court the Spartans had.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 01:32 PM) Now you know why we made the Final 4 last year. We had Chris Hill, Anderson and Torbert handling the ball in clutch situations. Not Drew Neitzel. He did absolutely nothing today. 1-8, 3 pts, 2 assists, 2 turnovers and 4 fouls. The amazing part is that he took 31 minutes to accumulate this great stat line. And some guy named Boone scored 10 pts on him, including two threes, 4 assists and yes, he blocked Neitzel's shot twice. Neitzel, you suck. If it makes ya feel better, one of his only good games was when you guys torched Iowa. In the 1st half (when it was a game) the guy made all your big shots. Well everyone made shots that day. It seems like every one of the top teams in the big 10 have now had a bad loss in conference play. Its just proven, the big 10 is so solid everywhere that when the better teams play a wors team on the road, its still anybody's game.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 01:14 PM) DJ got hurt. Killingsworth was basically unknown at the beginning of the season, and no one knew what to do with him. Once they thought they had started to figure him out, DJ comes back. Killingsworth and DJ would always demand 3 guys on them, and this would open up easy outside shots. And then DJ went down for the second time. Killingsworth is no longer an unknown. For the most part, you can guarantee yourself victory, if you stop Killingsworth on offense, or get him into foul trouble. How was Killingsworth unknown? The guy was the leading scorer on Auburn before transferring and was one of the better players in the conference.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 10:56 AM) Iowa is doing one hell of a job trying to blow this game. Despite the score and the late scare we hit em pretty good on the road and it was the Hawks best road win of the year. Killingworth put in an effort but most of his points game in garbage time. Vaden continued to hurt us, but luckily he didn't take as many shots as he did the first time around. Our free throw shooting almost ended up costing us the 2nd straight game (we are a solid FT shooting team though) cause it did cost us the NU game.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 11, 2006 -> 10:14 AM) That's insane... Before the Iowa game, I thought they were playing their best basketball of the decade. They got blown out, and haven't been the same since. That loss they had to OSU was rough since OSU shot insanely from 3 point range (than again the Hawks shot pretty ridiculously against them too).

Come on Hawks...big game for us and its not a must win, but if we want to win the big 10 it is a must win (especially considering what lays out next in the schedule...a loss here could lead to a big swoon). Lets go Hawks!!!

MVP 06 Release Date
QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 7, 2006 -> 05:45 PM) if you're not already, use "assisted" baserunning, and yes the little differences in baserunning will get some getting used to. And yes, if you're not using "classic" hitting, hold L1 for power, R1 for contact. I'm confused. How the hell is the baserunning different than last year? I just picked it up and went back to work where I left off last year. Buttons are the same from what I know and the sliding mechanisms are as well.

MVP 06 Release Date
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Feb 7, 2006 -> 04:01 PM) Initial reaction: looks promising, but, these new features are going to need some getting-used-to Questions: -How do you throw the baseball with the stick without upwards of five errors in one game? -Are there other views besides the behind-the-pitcher when pitching and is there any way to quicken that view up without having to watch him get the ball back, get settled, etc? -How do you swing for any power with the stick and can you direct your swing--pull or hit to the opposite field? -Should I even be wasting my time with the load-and-fire? -Doesn't the actual game seem to take a lot longer? Throwing should be pretty easy. Its just a matter of getting in proper fielding position and than releasing in the green zone. As far as views, I use last years view (go into the visual options and you can change it). I don't use the load and fire hitting, but I love load and fire throwing. On a sidenote, is it just my system or do the words like slider and the numbers get blurred on the middle of the screen? I need to figure out if I have a defunked Xbox (I got a warranty so I can return it if thats the case) or if its the game.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 09:06 AM) LOL, I know he has a ton of loot so a few missing bucks here or there would go unnoticed, but my guess is his wife wasn't betting $20.00 in Super Bowl squares. I think it was like 75 grand.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 11:27 AM) Tim Thomas would of been included. TT straight up for Kenyon and Nene. See if they bite. They seem pretty desperate to unload Kenyon's contract and it would give the Bulls two quality bigs. I have no idea if either team would do it and obviously it depends on how desperate Denver is to dump that contract.

Bulls @ nuggets...
QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 07:58 PM) Yeah, hopefully Tyson can put two halves together tonight. Obviously when Tyson plays well the Bulls are a hell of a lot better team. And I agree, the Bulls really need another big, but I'm not sold on Drew Gooden as that guy. If we had Curry we'd be at least .500. The Bulls need for a low post scorer is obviou and while I am glad we moved Curry (I think he's soft although extremely talented; he wasn't worth what he got considering the risks). However, we need to find a replacement big time. I'd hope that we have a shot at Gay or Aldridge via the Knicks pick, but Gooden is a good low post scorer who could get a good number of minutes and help our offense out a lot. Plus, no one is going to tell me he's worse than say Malik Allen defensively. I think having him back with Hinrich and with a good coach like Skiles would do him some good. If he can't succeed with that than I'd have my doubts (Skiles gets the best out of his guys as long as the other player is willling to work hard).

Bulls @ nuggets...
We were up pretty big but the Nugs closed the quarter strong. Still a 9 point lead at the half. The ball movement has been tremendous and we are kicking ass in the boards. Tyson with 6 points and 11 boards in the first half. He's a beast and Songalia has been great as well. Hinrich has had some nice passes and Gordon/Noc have looked good too. Haven't seen much Deng or Duhon. Actually I'm starting to think there may be a true shot Duh gets dealt around the break for a guy like Gooden (or another big). I like Duhon a lot but I think its easier to find a backup pg as opposed to a quality big that can score (plus thats kind of a big time need for this team).

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) Northwestern's final 6 possessions yielded 17 points. They scored 18 points in the first half. They must loosen the rims in the final minutes of the game there. Was it just insanely hot shooting for did Iowa lax on defense? Or was it tons of 2nd chance points? I take it you were able to watch it. I guess I should consider myself lucky that it isn't on tv. The Bulls are looking good though.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 06:49 PM) The annual Hawkeye collapse at Welsh-Ryan is underway I can't figure out why they consistantly beat us. This stretch could get really ugly with a game at IU on Saturday and you know IU is gonna be playing hard. IU's been slumping and just got clobbered so my guess is we'll see a much better Indiana and I think we all know how Iowa plays on the road (ie, mediocre). They lose Saturday and they may find themselves very quickly out of the big 10 race (considering we still have our game @ Illinois and than of course at home against MSU. Damn it, ticks me off that NU got us yet again.

Well the Hawks got two straight on the road. First in Evanston against a team that has had our number and than Saturday (ESPN HD...WOOT) at IU. I'm pumped Iowa is getting more TV time this year.

I don't mind Gooden cause I think he's a good player, but defensively he lacks. At teh same time, we need some solid front court scoring and he would provide it. I'd hate to deal Duhon cause I really like him as our 1st guard off the bench. If we could find a legit two (with Gordon/TT/draft pick going somewhere) and than find a way to spin some other part for Gooden than i'd be really pumped. However, I think they'd want a little something more than a spare part for Gooden. I think Hinrich would be a good person to know whether Gooden would be a solid fit. If Hinrich tells Pax and Skiles he'll work hard, I have faith in that happening. Plus he'll be in a good system where he'll be asked to work hard. I think Skiles does a good job getting the best of his guys and if one of the guys isn't willing to put in the effort they will be shipped out.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Feb 6, 2006 -> 12:36 PM) Meh, don't get to worked up in the polls, it's cool to see your team in there but it's not like they mean anything. Iowa where they are right now is about fine, imo. I think they could be higher in the poll if you looked at the total picture, but at the same time, they are in a pretty fair place since they haven't exactly proven themselves as a powerhouse over the years (and while polls really mean this year, I think it always helps when your a sucessful program because often times you have players that have been there and done that and experience helps). If Iowa finishes the year atop the big 10 standings, I could honestly give a hoot where they are ranked cause they'd be making the tourney and I'd already be more than pleased with my teams performance. Hopefully they can make some noise in the tourney, but right now its just playing well consistently and trying to get one win after another.

Rating Super Bowl XL
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Feb 6, 2006 -> 10:11 AM) As a Steelers fan, I had to even rate it as only fair. Ben played very poorly, especially compared to his previous playoff games. Steelers defense backed off of the blitz early, and it cost them yardage. It was like watching a completely different Steelers team early in the game, not sure what was going on. Neither team brought their "A" game, and it showed on TV. But a championship is a championship if you are a fan of the winning team, it just wasn't nearly as fun for the other teams fans to watch. If the Bears were in this game I'd have been going nuts too. When its your team you could care less if its boring, especially when you end up winning.
