  1. Mihm is a great role player and a solid starter. His problem is he gets into foul trouble often and when that happens he dissapears from the game. The Lakers probably figure Brown will help him out to at least some extent, but this still doesn't solve their low post situation as they still need one more center/pf at the very least. They also have a drastic need for a quality point guard.
  2. When I first glanced at this, I thought you mean Chris Webber. I was sitting thinking, is Philly stupid.
  3. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 12:07 AM) I'd take Childress before Harrington very, very easily. Josh is gonna be a good one. Well I'd demand both in a sign and trade. If they don't do it, screw em, we'll match and they won't get their big man.
  4. If Thome was healthy I wonder if the Phils would be as willing to deal him. The guy has produced during his tenure in Philly and my guess is he will continue to produce. As long as his back is still alright (and this injury isn't related to it) I'd have to think some teams would take a flyer on him. He'd be an impact pick-up assuming he'd be healthy enough to play down the stretch. Still he won't fit on the Sox. Not this year at least.
  5. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 08:21 AM) I'll be pissed if we trade carl everett in that burnett deal. i will also be pissed if we trade for glavine. he stinks In a sense it would open up a spot for Ross Gload and I think to an extent Gload can do similar things to Carl Everett. Of course thats a rather large risk because I tend to think Carl is one of those guys that keeps the team loose (but I could be wrong).
  6. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 08:11 AM) I tend to agree but here's the good news. The Sox are looking, and they're being aggressive about it. If we are looking at a rental, I tend to prefer a crafty veteran with postseason experience. Pretty sure Glavine has a full no trade anyways, plus he and Reinsdorf might not be on the best of terms, just me speculating. I wish Glavine was putting things together after a poor start, but he's pitched consistently medicore to bad the entire year in the NL. Still, I could see some logic to this move simply because he's a very heady veteran pitcher that could add a lot to this club. I also assume this would kind of be a Plan D option and would have a much smaller price tag (in terms of what to give up). It kind of depends on what the Sox do. If they make a hard push at Wagner or Guardado (who will cost a little something prospect wise), Kenny may opt for a vet like Moyer or Glavine who may not cost as much prospect wise (especially Glavine). One question...is Shea considered a pitchers park or a hitters park because Glavine pitches at least dedent there (4.22 ERA) while he's horrendous on the road.
  7. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 06:23 AM) That makes me believe that perhaps Schmidt won't be as expensive as I thought... if he only costs prospects, then I wouldn't mind a deal. Thats going to be the key. Kenny isn't going to give up everyday players, aside from possibly El Duque or one reliever to add to this team. He's going to try and bolster the team by giving up its prospects. However, with Crede having two herniated discs, if the Sox are dealing Uribe in any deal they are retarded. Right now Omar looks real nice cause than Juan gets turned into a super-sub which is an awesome insurance, especially with Crede's back questionable (the rest will help all of the middle infielders too, and Uribe will get lots of playing time and stay sharp as well).
  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 11:32 PM) What was your sig bet with him? Cause he's definitely going to lose the one I had with him. I don't remember if him and I ever agreed on one, but we kept talking and I said the Sox bullpen was one of the best and he disagreed. I remember saying it would be in the 3's. I think yours was similar right Rowand? Of course qwerty and I never did agree to terms. Plus there is a lot of season left.
  9. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) He wouldn't dream of hitting in the middle of the order. Cuz that's Sammy's spot. Damn. I was going position by position, trying to figure out who had the better lineup. I still had some hope w/ ARod on the US team, but ARod+Pujols+Tejada+Vlad? Wowza. USA would still be able to compete. They have some damn good hitters themselves. Guys like Helton, Bonds, Sheffield, Rolen, Texiera, Blalock, Chavez (I think he was born/raised here), etc. Plus that pitching staff would be filthy too. Its going to be really cool.
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 03:12 PM) A-Rod was born and raised in America. New York. He should represent America...just my 2 cents. It would be like me representing the Italian team (of course there would be far other concerns aside from me repping Italy...like the fact that I'd be helping America win cause I'm so s***ty, lol). I understand he should be able to choose, but I don't get it when a guy was born over here. I'd understand it more if he was born in America while his folks were on vacation and than lived most of his life somewhere else, but that didn't happen. Just my 2 cents.
  11. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) A nightmare. That's all I'm gonna say for now. Just remember, if you order that Sox jersey and they can't ship it to Aussie just have them ship it my way. Check out sportsauthority.com sportmart.com and finishline.com Usually they are all the same price, but sometimes one of those stores has a sale price thats cheaper than ESPN.com or Whitesox.com
  12. One of the all time best passing centers in the league. Good player and he'll be missed. Sucks his back his pretty much done. Of course I'm sure Charlotte wishes they never heard the name Vlade Divac (since they traded Kobe for him).
  13. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) Ok lets see here. Where does Al Harrington fit into the lineup? Who become the Bulls new starting center? I'd want Josh Childress as well.
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) Believe me, I know first - hand Jason isn't an El Duque fan after those Angels games on the weekend. And I've said all along, we need to keep JC. Yes he was inconsistent in June, could crap his pants in a big game, and can walk a few from time to time. But he has great splits, a great BAA, and has flat out dominant stuff. You know it. How was the 14 hr flight back.
  15. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 11:13 PM) Did anyone watch Schmidt pitch tonight?? I left and went out after the sox game so I didn't watch him pitch tonight but I'm still of hte opinion that he'll get better every start cause his stuff is there it's just the fact of him getting healthy which will allow his control to get better. Ya, I watched a few innings against the Dodgers. The Dodgers didn't make much good contact against him, however Schmidt really battled with his control and had a pretty high pitch count most of the game. Mechanics looked fluid though and he was improving as the game went on. Fastball looked good and like I said, Dodgers weren't squaring up much against him (than again Dodgers haven't done that against much anyone as of late). Still I liked the way he pitched and I think he's getting close to reaching 100%.
  16. As far as Wang goes, thats too bad for him. I've watched him pitch a couple outings and I must say he impressed the hell out of me. 1st time I saw him was in a game against the Cubs and I didn't even know who he was. Quickly I realized that the type of stuff he had. He's the best guy the Yanks have developed in some time (I honestly have no idea how they got him, but I'm assuming they signed him a year or two ago and had him in the minors). But f*** the Yanks.
  17. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 06:35 PM) Schilling looke extra plump tonight. He's serving up fat ones too. He was brutal down in the minors (from everything I heard) and I think there is a decent chance he may be done. He's still having a lot of trouble with that ankle. But if anyone can tough through the pain (and trust me, he's still in pain) than it would be Curt. I just question whether he'll ever regain full strenght of that ankle.
  18. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) Where are you guys getting these rumors from? Is there a certain site? Padres have considered moving Nevin for quite a while now, and Wells fit well in San Diego. Nevin isn't well liked by the fans in San Diego. I don't remember the particulars of what he did, but to say the least, he fell out of love within the city and to a lesser extent the organization. He always plays hard and is a good player though. However, they can easily move Klesko over to 1st (which is where he prefers playing). They are also totally fed up with Burroughs and would package him in a deal, but they are worried they won't get enough for him (cause his trade value is pretty low).
  19. Schmidt is the guy I'm falling back in love with. AJ has stellar stuff too, but I think he costs major league parts and quite frankly, I'm not dealing more then one or two guys, definately not Contreras. Duque can go, but Contreras is and should stay on the south side. As far as VA suggested deal of Contreras/Uribe for Schmidt/Vizquel. Thats a pretty fair deal straight up, especially if the Giants are looking towards the future. Throw in a mid-level prospect and it gets the deal done. Problem is I don't gie up Contreras or Uribe. However, I'd be more then willing to throw two of the Sox top prospects, a middle infield prospect (Valido/Gonzo/Lopez), a mid tier guy, and Willie Harris.
  20. Hey Rex I'm working on creating a photoalbum type deal for FutureSOx. Would it be cool if I used those pictures in it (i'd give you or whoever took them proper credit of course)

QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) How's the new Fall Out Boy album? I bought the last one and thought it was garbage and gave it away, but i heard the new one's supposedly better. Also, are you going to see Flogging Molly on the 13th? I'll be up in Milwaukee seeing them the 11th and then on my way to Reel Big Fish and Coldplay in Wisconsin that weekend... I love the new Fall Out Boy CD. Definately a keeper in my book (of course I liked the previous one as well...this one's better though). I'm out in California so I won't be at the show on the 13th. However, I'm seeing them on the 29th or 30th down in San Diego @ Screet Scene along with Rise Against, The Killers, The Used, Death Cab and a few others. I've just recently gotten into Flogging Molly. At first I thought it was weird, but now it just rocks.
  23. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) That's why I've been saying that I think if Burnett is traded here a deal would get done with him quickly because they aren't going to need much next year and they'll be able to throw some money at him. Think of it this way, you add Burnett lets say let Pauly walk(which I think is far from a sure thing) rework Thomas's deal which I believe most of us think'll happen, Dye to first base and you basically have your lineup, rotation and most of hte bullpen intact with our top 4 arms back for next year(Cliff has an option that will be picked up) plus Jenks. So with that done you can probably add one more arm and a bench player maybe and there ya go. If the Sox let Paulie go, you can bet they'll make a heavy push at a guy like Aubrey Huff over the off-season to play 1st base (while also adding a left handed bat). However, finacially speaking, you are right. Sox can aquire Burnett and sign him and I think there is a decent chance they get him or another player with the overall plan being similar (to keep the guy acquired for the next few years).
  24. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) Somebody here was saying he turned down an offer or two, but I'm not quite sure. I'll wait until somebody says for certain. And both of those contracts you mentioned are way too much for such a one dimensional player. He's not even worth what he makes now. If PK does end up signing with another team for much more money than he's making now, I can't wait to see how people react. If that happens, a lot of people will start to agree with that comparison. No, the reason I think most are mad at Magglio is that he turned down a very very very good contract offer (as good as the one the Tigers gave him). Paulie has yet to do that with the Sox. Plus if Paulie went on the open market he'll get a contract along the lines of Richie Sexson (12 mill a year). Or at least I think he'd get close to it. My guess is the Sox will offer Paulie a deal somewhere between 8-10 mill a year for about 3 years.
  25. No, this is a decent deal for the Lakers cause they are getting rid of garbage in terms of Devean or Atkins. Both are and were bums last season for the Lakers. However Caron is a quality player and thats a good pickup by the Wiz. I also don't mind these deal for the Lakers caues Kwame is very talented and Kobe (whom I hate) does have a great work ethic and could potentially bring out the best in Brown. Plus the Lakers desperately needed a big man. OF course they still need to get rid of Lamar Odom.
