QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 08:02 AM) If we lose him to Iowa, i'm gonna cry And I'll jump for joy. I still remember how close Iowa got to beating you guys last year (after I predicted a win). My god I'd of been in tears if they won. Of course Alford had to save his job. I just hope he's figured things out now cause I don't stand for mediocrity and the Hawkeyes have some decent pieces returning and should be able to at least compete for a middle tier spot in the big 10 (which would get em in the tourney).

I do realize its a difference, but he was one of the better relievers last season in all of baseball. And IIRC he finished the year strong as well. No one else is Leo, but I'd like to think he's gotten things straightened out. Personally though, I'm like some who aren't exactly for this deal, but I guess it makes sense, especially if the Sox plan on keeping Jenks or whoever they get at the major league level. Still, I wouldn't be expecting a top prospect or anything like that, rather it will be a AAA prospect.

I like Crede...see sig/avatar

Cruz would be a really nice option, of course I tend to think despite his recent struggles with the A's that he has more value than Shingo. However, this deal would make some sense. 1st off Cruz has proven himself to be a pretty good middle-reliever, despite his struggles this year. He also seems to have gotten himself back in gear down in the minors. Secondly, if the Sox want to deal Cruz I think you'd have at least some teams quite interested because he has a great arm and has had minor league sucess. Third, this gives the Sox great depth (almost like the Day move) if they aren't able to pull the big time deal and El Duque goes down (I dont' think the Sox want to call up Bmac the rest of the year...they want him to get comfortable down in AAA).

Another dandy game.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 12:22 AM) That guy doesn't deserve jail he deserves to get his ass beaten, badly. What do you think will happen to him in prison???

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) So do we get CNN updates like the girl in Texas who fell down the well? Somebody get a camera crew over to Wino's! Oh god, finally looked through this whole thread and damn it has some funny stuff in it.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 04:27 AM) Now the fun part. You have to convince her to sleep with ChiSoxFn. Pfft....every girl wants Chisoxfn...the question is do they meet my standards

I got Verizon and it rocks. Of course everything just depends on the area you are in and every one of them will have its dead spots. Got the LG camera phone (almost 2 years old and once two years is up I'm switching in for a new phone cause mines dying). It survived a dip in the ocean once and has been banged up more times than Paris Hilton

QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) Here's a thought, how about Chad Tracy of of D'backs? He plays 1B and 3B. He's been playing at 1B this year due to the Glaus signing but had been a 3B. He's definitely not the defensive wiz Crede is at 3B which would be my only hesitation. He's in his second year making near league minimum. Last year he hit .285, and this year he's been over .300 for almost the entirety of the season. He doesn't have too much pop (although 10 homers so far isn't bad). He's a lefty (throws right), something the Sox could definitely use, and he's not going to kill rallies. Plus he's only 25 years old with a history of hitting for a high average in the minors. So why would the D'backs even consider trading him? Well he's obviously of no use at 3B since Glaus is there and will be there for several years. They have Tony Clark playing 1B as well who's having one of his better years so far this year (hitting .324 w/ 13 homers in limited playing time). They're also looking to bring up their prize prospect Conor Jackson. Jackson is POOR defensively and really can ONLY play 1B, so there's a logjam there. Tracy could move to the OF, but with Shawn Green, Gonzo, and Jose Cruz out there, I can't see regular playing time for him out there either. The D'backs obviously still need bullpen help. I think we could get Tracy straight up for ONE relief pitcher, either one on the major league roster or a high level relief prospect... definitely not more than two... maybe we could throw in Borchard and get some value for him if necessary. Plus side: can replace Crede if he goes down at 3rd, can backup Konerko at 1st, hits for a high average, bats lefty, young, cheap, very good against righties Negatives: poor (but improving?) defense, doesn't hit lefties well Only problem is I just don't see the Dbacks dealing Tracy, unless they are getting a very good young infielder in return. Of course I'm a huge huge Tracy fan. He's gonna be a pretty good player for a long time. Another guy thats gonna be really good, if not great, is Sizemore. Man does he have a sweet swing.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 13, 2005 -> 07:03 AM) It is very possible. The games last year were impossible to get tickets to. Lets not mention that dreaded series.

QUOTE(winodj @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) If you need help, let me know. I'd mention what my degree is in but that could be dangerous round these parts. Cool...ya I'm thinking my head is gonna be spinning for taking this class. I probably should just go back and repeat the last one I took and than go into advanced the next semester (I wanted to find a description of where exactly I should be to take this class, but it wasn't anywhere on my schools registration site so I just hope this isn't for people already completely fluent, lol).

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) Ahh, for some reason I thought he just accepted arbitration, thanks for the info. Ya, I think its around 7 mill a year annually (which isn't too bad cause he's a pretty good pitcher, imo).
-
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) Didn't he just accept arbitration this past offseason to stay with L.A.?? If so, thats news to me, but I zoned out. I thought he was going to sign multi year but like I say I may be wrong. I know he doesn't make all that much this year.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:47 PM) This quote was from the Sun-Times: Here's what I don't get. They have Cabrera (unless they plan on moving him to 3rd), Pierre, and Encarnacion (unless they plan on dealing him). I just don't see where Everett would fit in. Of course if Lowell is dealt somewhere this makes more sense.

I'd like it to be of Joe Crede...and I want the tag like to be Joltin Joe Dimaggio (but cross out Dimaggio and than have Crede above it or something). On one side some pics of Dimmagio and than the other side Crede. Thanks in advance

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) That's impressive. I think French is probably the hardest romance language to learn. I never got my eu, u, ou sounds straight. It's a hard language. I'm convinced to actually sound french that I'd have to smoke like 20 packs of cigarettes a day for the rest of my life. That way I'd get that whole nasal sound down.

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) Steve Stone just made a good point on WSCR, basically he said KW probably will make a minor move soon, and then wait for a blockbuster trade if one is needed. Stone feels that with the lead the Sox have they are under no pressure to make a move right now, and can wait a week or two for a few more teams to fall out of it and more players become available That makes sense. Of course there isn't much time until Gload is in trouble. I'm assuming he doesn't have any options (could be wrong though) and his rehab stint ends on Monday.

I'm going to throw out a name here, but Odalis Perez. He's fed up with the Dodgers organization and just signed a 3 yr deal (maybe it was longer) for them a year or two ago (can't remember which off-season it was). He's a lefty, isn't signed to a horrid contract, and is a pretty good pitcher when healthy. The only issue is that he's been banged up this year and the Dodgers may not want to give him up, since they are technically still in the race (especially when they get there bats back). At the same time, if they truly are fed up with him, now would be a good time. Perez is mad at how the organization rushed him and Gagne back from injuries, mainly him. Says he was in a rehab assignemtn, told them he absolutely couldn't go another inning, and they threw him out there anyway and he ended up re-injuring something and it delayed his comeback. He hasn't been great this year (but he's finally getting healthy) and last year he was tremendous once again (2 of his past 3 seasons have been very good, imo). He may pitch at Dodger stadium but he has good stuff and limits hits and is a solid strikeout pitcher. He's gotten hit hard in his two starts since coming off the DL though.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 02:29 PM) Wow, that's better than your English!!! You just watch out...I could get even worse with my yours/you are and theirs/there's. I'm actually gonna be taking an advanced french class this semester (had 3 years of it a while back but haven't taken it in about two years and I'm afraid I'm gonna fail the damn course cause I'll have forgotten too much).
