It'll look similar to this, but with the Soxtalk logo on the top. http://www.futuresox.com/gallery/warthogs/index.html Some of the pics aren't finished as I got to take a look at some of the players and verify I got the right names (90% of them are correct, just don't want to make any mistakes).

If all the wallpapers aren't in here, can people please post the ones that aren't here in this thread. I'm going to be creating a photo gallery of all the wallpapers for people to easily access and need everything close so I can save them all on my computer and create the gallery. Thanks for the help

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) Don't start with page 1 I was gonna ask that question. I was like am I supposed to read this backwards, lol. I'm assuming its just a countdown to the last page or something. I know one thing, I could tell someone else I'm on page 289 and they'll be impressed I read that many pages. Little do they know it would actually be like page 1

What would you do if the Sox won the World Series?
Chisoxfn replied to crash's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 02:49 PM) I would be content in the sports world. Out of all my favorite teams (White Sox, Blackhawks, Bears, Bulls) I would be most elated if the White Sox were able to win. I would not stop talking about it for the rest of my life. If they won, i don't know what I would do, because I cannot fathom it. I'd probably go on a 24 hr high which will be followed by extreme exhaustion. I think I would go absolutely crazy and would eventually run out of energy (how long would it take, who knows, but It will be an awesome awesome time. -
Finally got off my ass and picked up the book today.

Miller was injured for part of the year IIRC and he's just gotten back on the mound. I think he was 1-0 or something in High A.

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) They'd be absolutely insane not to. With the contract he has at the age he is at, the only way they get that much is to pay the rest of his deal IMO. That said, I'd be irate with this deal from a Sox-fan perspective. Valido is by far the best SS prospect in the system and Vizquel is practically old enough to challenge Carl's assertion that dinosaurs didn't exist with a first-hand account.... I could see giving up Lopez or Gonzalez in the package but not Valido. I could also see Baj to go along with it. A Lopez/Gonzo plus Baj for Omar deal would make some sense. Of course this would also mean Willie Harris is at least potential trade bait or in the minors with Uribe filling in at 3rd, 2nd, and SS and getting quite a bit of ab's and Ozuna filling in an everything type of guy who will likely be used sparingly (although he would be a solid pinch runner).

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) I had to fill-up on Friday, but when I saw the price I wanted to wait a day or two to see if the price came down at least a little bit. No such luck so I filled up yesterday after Church . I use 87 octane and it was $2.459 a gallon (I really hate that nine at the end - why not just bump it up to the nearest whole penny?!). I think the 93 octane was around $2.759 a gallon. :puke Getting used to it as there is not much I can do about it at this time. So what is the price in your neighborhood? Gas where we are is about 2.45-2.55

QUOTE(Randar68 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 08:39 AM) Nope, I'm with ya there on Fields vs. Schnur... BTW, having been written off by many, Donny Lucy has been playing pretty well, no? Fields has had to make adjustments as he's moved up and will always strike out a lot, but he's pretty good defensively and just needs repetitions. I'm in "wait-and-see" mode on several guys we've talked about a lot in the past. My love of Schnur is no knock on Fields. Its more a tribute to how much I personally like Micah's potential and ability. And your right on Lucy, its great to see things going well for him. I think we all knew he was a pretty raw guy when drafted, however, his athletic skills are something to semi marvel at considering he's a catcher. I hope he can keep things up. In Whislers case I just think he has a long way to go, right now he throws a lot of different pitches, but to me, he doesn't have one "great" pitch. Of course Buehrle doesn't have one great pitch either (and I'm definately not comparing the two). Whisler may be alright, but he's very raw and I'll admit, he's never been one of my favorite prospects. I do see why the Sox like him though. He had a good arm and it had low mileage.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 03:11 PM) 1.) a lot: it's two words 2.) your = possessive; you're = you are; its = possessive; it's = it is; there = location; their = possessive; they're = they are I must drive you totally nuts

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) I went to it the other night. If it wasn't for Jessica Alba, I would've walked out. If you really want to see it, wait until it comes out on video. I could've spent that $6.50 on gas, at least I didn't drive to the theater. Just debating whether I should get dragged to it with my friends or not. In this case i'll pass and play poker or something instead. I've never been big on comics but than a few of my pals seem to want to see every comic book movie. This one just didn't look interesting to me, although it sure as hell got enough hype.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) He said he wouldn't be surprised if they got traded, he didn't say he think they're going to be traded. It'll come down to the adage of whether you trade someone when their value is at a peak. I think you could make a case that Anderson's stock may be the highest of the 3 while Young is in the middle and Sweeney just below. Thats not to knock any of them because I think GM's all over the place would love to get a hold of any of the 3 individuals. The question is who do the Sox scouts like and at the same time would they rather deal a guy like Anderson (whose trade value is high but may rate out around the same level as a guy like Sweeney) or would they rather deal Sweeney simply because Anderson is close to the show and a good insurance if the Sox somehow got banged up with injuries. It will be interesting and I'm sure we'll see a godo player or two go. Heck just look at what Morse and Reed are doing in Seattle. Hell I watched Morse in Saturdays game in Anaheim and he's really looking good. I like what he's done with his swing.

By the way, I felt we should get some good Karma going through the break so I pinned the thread.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 05:21 PM) Sorry for my not deciding to be such a downer, but I still can't get over what the Sox have done in the first half. I just kind of want to make this a little congratulatory thread of what the Sox have done up to this point. Not one of us could have fathomed us at being 57-29 at the ASB and having a 9 game lead on Minnesota, giving us the best record in baseball. The pitching's just been stellar, both the rotation and bullpen. A lot of the new guys have played some very important and successful roles in the success of this ballclub: Pods, Iguchi, Dye, Pierzynski, Hermanson, etc. Here's hoping the Sox don't stop here! The ride has been fun so far and hopefully it stays that way

Good article. Also want to say comments like those from Shine (in regards to Sweeney) is why despite his low power numbers, scouts all over the place would truly gush over him. Its also why GM's everywhere would like to get their hands on him. To be honest I wouldn't have an ounce of trouble if the Sox held onto both Young and Sweeney and moved Anderson instead, simply because I think Anderson value is at its peak and I refuse to give up Chris Young (I mean I could see it happening, but he's the least of the group I'd want to deal).

Did anyone see Fantastic 4? If so was it any good?

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) Exactly! Scary is that we struggled against Tim Stauffer (SD) & Ervin Santana (ANA)...oh sorry that was because I went to both those games.... Here is a list of the pitchers we didn't get: 1. Only faced Johan Santana 1 time of the 5 played 2. CC Sabathia 1 time in 9 played 3. Didn't face Jamie Moyer (SEA) 4. Didnt face Roy Halladay (TOR) 5. Didn't face Kenny Rogers in 5 played 6. Mark Prior only 1 time in 6 played 7. Bartolo Colon 1 time in 7 played (ANA) 8. No Jake Peavy or Adam Eaton vs SD Outside of Detroit the other teams pitching staffs might as well be farm clubs...colorado, tampa, kc, dodgers, az.... What was it a couple of years ago we got no breaks...we hit every teams win streak....this year so far the exact opposite... GO SOX great first half... Don't know about the rest of the names, but the Sox faced Prior twice. One time he came back off the DL and shut em down and the other time the Sox faced him was the game where Brandon McCarthy matched him pitch for pitch until Viz came in to blow the game.

QUOTE(HoosierSox @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) That would be just our luck if we had the best record in baseball and we have to play Oakland in the wild card. I pray that does not happen. Bottom line if the Sox can't beat Oakland in the playoffs they won't deserve to win it all. This is now and yes the Sox have struggled the past couple years against Oakland but at the same time this year they are just meeting Oakland at the wrong time. If Oakland gets in and the Sox make it and the two teams play, may the Sox win. I'm not one too concerned with matchups. If the Sox are going to do it all they'll have to be capable of beating anyone (they'll also have to be playing good baseball at the time) and I have confidence they'll be ready to give it a fighting chance (I also have confidence we'll see at minimum one more good to great player on the southside thanks to Kenny before the year is done).

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) Says who??? Not me. You pitch like the Sox have and field like they have as well as hit and scored runs like they have and truly they are one of the better teams in all of baseball. Sure they get some bounces, but at the same time I think its only a fluke for so long and than it just turns out its more of a skill and the Sox are good at playing baseball and they are doing a good job winning games. Good teams win, case closed. Think of the Twins the past couple years, never with a true superstar (last year you could definately make a case for Johan being that guy) but what did they do...they found a way to win. Thats not luck, thats a team doing the little things to ensure they win more than they lose. Now lets sit back and enjoy the fact the Sox are 9 games up at the break and around 30 games over .500 (maybe its 29, I don't know). One game at a time, and so for its been a blast of a ride

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 08:46 PM) Well there goes my theory. Young plays the game hard no matter what though. He's a really special player, imo. Your gonna keep hearing more and more about him too. Its just when he hits the ball the bat makes a different type of sound. He truly has a chance to be a special player. Remember though, he also has some definate holes that could lead to him being a total bust. He's got a great attitude though and plays hard so I think the odds are in his favor.

Nice to see Spidale with 3 hits down in WS. Collaro also had 2 hits and another bomb (20th). The best 3rd base prospect in the org also hit his 11th hr (Micah Schnurstein) for WS and is starting to develop his power stroke a bit more. Mark my words and I've been saying it a long time but Schnur has the ability to be a total double/hr machine. I just absolutely love his swing. Hell Wes even threw a good game (6 shutout innings for WS) which is a total shock. Sucks to see Bmac struggled again down in Charlotte. He's definately in a funk and needs to get a few starts under his belt and regain some confidence, imo. Big thing is he needs to get the change back into his repetoire and start to relax a bit (I think he was probably pressing a bit at the major league level knowing if he did good he could of replaced Duque). The 2 runs came on a 2 run HR (kind of figures).
