Feliz to the Sox?
I just saw this and am not gonna be around much so was gonna just ask a quick question (don't have time to read the whole thread right now). Is this actually being reported as a possibility or more a name being bantied around by fans?

Draft Day 2 Thread
QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) My God, the Sox might be able to fill Bristol or Great Falls up with strictly JC or CC players after this. It should bode well for their record.

Draft Day 2 Thread
QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) That or guys with signability issues. He's got more signability issues than any Boras client too, LOL. But like we said on AIM yesterday. 1st the Sox draft him, then they need to sign him, then he needs to turn into a star...thats what must happen and than it will be way badass

Official Draft Talk Thread
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 08:25 AM) Quick question: With Kenny head-over-heels in love with guys like Pedro Lopez, does that factor in when drafting? For instance, will Kenny be hesitant to draft a middle-infielder early because he thinks there is some can't-miss talent playing in either AA or AAA. I know a lot of times you want to draft talent, regardless of who you have playing in front of him, but does that play even a small role when drafting? And SS, I totally agree. My kid won't even know he has a right hand until the second grade. No, you draft talent and frankly should look very little at what you currently have. The only time position really factors in is when you have guys rated on a similar plane and than you decide on which guy fills a bigger need position. Later in the draft they will draft for depth though, making sure all the rosters will be squared away for the minors.

Official Draft Talk Thread
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 08:15 AM) Mike, when your kid decides its time to try his hand at baseball, you make damn sure he throws with his left hand. I'm serious. Whenever he goes to throw the baseball with his right, slap it. I don't know jack about the MLB draft, but isn't this pretty par for the course? You always hear that pitchers, especially lefties, have a future in baseball. However, with the exception of Anderson, Sweeney, etc. a lot of our starting position players in the future would appear to come from either free agency or via trade, so if Kenny is looking to promote home-grown pitching talent instead of position players, I suppose I'm on board with that. And you make double damn sure that I'm his agent. I'll make Boras look like Santa Claus, we'll get him top dollar

Draft Day 2 Thread
Those are some really nice looking stats and if I recall Lake City is a place the Sox have drafted a few guys from before. At least it sounds really familiar.

Good Minor League Transaction site?
www.milb.com and there are some transaction pages in there. Neither that or BA are perfect but they are the best that I know of.

FutureSox to interview Lance Broadway
Lance, what have the White Sox told you about where you are going to start the season? Also did you work out any type of pre-draft deal or are you still under negotiations with the Sox? Lance, tell us a bit about your stuff and the way you go about attacking hitters. How was the whole draft experience and when did you know the Sox were going to take you?

Draft Day 2 Thread
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 09:07 AM) $5.3 million? Isn't that pretty insane? The guy isn't THAT good is he? He's got all the ability in the world, but its hard to say what will happen. Sox wouldn't offer it, but he's a very very capable player and its tough to say where he would go if he were open to being drafted, but quite high. He's definately about as good as it gets when it comes to the HS crop. 2.5 would get it done, but I highly doubt the Sox go there. They'd be giving him more money than Broadway.

Draft Day 2 Thread
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 08:59 AM) If he had said he wanted to be drafted, what kind of money would he have recieved? I'd say he's the type of guy that could of went top 15 and could of commanded 1.5-2 mill. It just depends and it helps that he's not repped by Boras. He could of also went a little later, but its gonna take more than mid 1st round money to get him, probably.

Draft Day 2 Thread
QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) I think Danks would have been a mid to late first round pick if he didn't say he wanted to go to Texas. I'd throw 1.5 million at him and see what he does. I think the Sox can go a bit cheap this year with all the JC and CC players in the first 18 picks (6 of them). The thing is I can't think of a time when the SOx have ever done this, but if they are gonna take a fliar on him I hope they are willing to step up with above slot money. I'd hope they'd go to a mill and see if he bites, but I'd probably agree that it will likely take a little more.

Draft Day 2 Thread
QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 08:35 AM) Oops sorry I did not see the Day Two draft thread, posted about Danks in the 43 page manifesto from yesterday. Yes, it will be interesting to see if they decide to throw large coin at this kid. What a coup it would be. Oh man if they did this, wowzers is all I could say.

Attack of the ants!
QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 04:48 AM) Yesterday, I was getting some stuff out of my truck and was standing on a fire ant mound wearing sandals. Those little bastards are nasty. Thankfully I had some rubbing alchohol and some fire ant itch relief gel handy. In less than a minute, I must have had 30 bites. I shouldn't laugh at your misfortune jim, but I must

Attack of the ants!
QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) So, we've been having a problem with ants in our apartment. Not just in the kitchen, but everywhere. There's no food left out or anything like that. So, I was hoping I could get some advice on products or solutions from people. Thanks from me and my grossed out roomie. Clean up everything and go to like home depot. Ask them for a safe pesticide (one thats alright to use in the house) and just spray along all the floor areas and that should do it. You may have to do it every few months just to keep them away. We like live on a freaking ant hill out here and started spraying that stuff every few months (usually on the outside walls of the house) but also by the kitchen and areas where food are and we rarely see ants now. And boy do ants suck.
