Are you freaking kidding me. This is so easy...Bears are going to win 8 games minimum and my guess is they win more like 10. This isn't because they are that good, its more in fact due to the easy early schedule they have. Oh and the Browns are freaking awful.

The big issue is a lot of people post from work and I understand they can turn off avatars and such, but at the same time many don't and its the issue of someone looking bad or getting in trouble at work. We don't ever want it to come to that. Hell, I've had girls on my avatar many a time and I know we have had the Hot Chick Contest...the thing is, we also don't need just random general pics of girls getting slammed. I have no problem with people posting different stuff and having things in there avs, at the same time, just be respectful of that person whose at work or surfing the net with there kid. Basically I'm saying pics where you basically see everything but dont'...well thats not cool. I mean really its rarely a judgement call and if you have doubts ask one of us or simply don't post it. It has nothing to do with me or any of the admins/mods having an ego. Its something we've often times have had commented or PM'd to us and its just something were considering. The best thing though is for everyone to monitor themselves and if they think it may be over the line...don't post it or ask us and we'll tell you. Also remember there are women who also post on this site and they are entitled to not having to see stuff they don't want to. The way I see it, if your looking for porn...go to some other site, this is the place to talk Sox and a hell of a lot of other things. By all means talk about this actress being hot but put up a link to some photos you think are hot (not nude photos) and simply put a warning for people that are at there work. That way those who want to can see and those who don't don't have to.

QUOTE(upnorthsox @ May 5, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) I don't recall, what were his other options? Wilson Valdez who has done a decent job with the Mariners.

Its funny...I've had the feeling the SOx were going to blow it today and I never though they'd come back a couple days ago when Everett hit the 2 run double. But I'll take it...and usually I'm an optimist. Of course I only started saying they would blow it when Shingo walked two.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 5, 2005 -> 08:21 AM) Lineups when Frank is back: Against RHP: Pods LF Iguchi 2B Everett RF Thomas DH Konerko 1B Rowand CF Pierzynski C Crede 3B Uribe SS Against LHP: Pods LF Iguchi 2B Thomas DH Konerko 1B Dye RF Rowand CF Pierzynski C Crede 3B Uribe SS Just my two cents. I tend to agree with that, but if Konerko keeps struggling I'd even think of letting Everett play 1st on ocassion against RHP's. Although hopefully by then you'll see Konerko hitting.

I remember him going to Japan, but I think he was back in the minors last year. IIRC I saw him when he was down in Charlotte last year (playing for another team). I know one thing, he could always rake the ball down in the minors.

QUOTE(Be Good @ May 4, 2005 -> 08:43 PM) Jeez 2.09, NY hasn't seen that since the early winter, anywhere. Right now the average is 2.40 give or take 10 cents. Cheap out my way is about 2.40...the places right by my house are about 2.60 (for the 87 octane). Luckily by campus its 2.40

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2005 -> 04:00 PM) It's really not necesary. The car companies are getting killed right now because SUV sales have plummetted. Ford and GM are taking a bath on those gas guzzlers, the bigger they are, the biggest the sales drops. Plus the companies who invested in hybrids can't build enough of them. Production is shifting as we speak. As usual, the free market is taking care of business. Yes, but fact of the matter the demand is too high and even if the US got more barrels, which I know one of the OPEC nations was offering to give more barrels but it still wouldn't matter. Regardless we could use another refinery or two and no one is going to tell me otherwise. And yes I'm a huge fan of the new hybrid products, but in some cases they are a little pricey to the point where you pay the extra few thousand dollars and you'll never reap the benefits of the better gas mileage in the long run. Its definately the first step and its an awesome technoligy that will help split the gap between the oil age and whatever age is next (whether its hydrogen fuel cells or what) but in between that there is still the production gap and frankly they don't have enough hybrids yet and the cost-savings analysis doesn't make sense on a lot of them...YET.

QUOTE(southsider17 @ May 5, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) I didn't hear anything about this. What's the story? I never heard anything about that. The only thing I remember was Tony liked the Sox, JR loved Tony but Tony wanted to at least give starting a shot and at the time the Royals were coming off a surprising year and were going to let him play everyday.

Cool stuff, looking forward to your comments.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 5, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) I saw this post at the other Sox message board... I myself heard Rooney and Farmer talking about Graffanino but I didn't see the post-game with Melton. Graffanino is earning $1.1 million in the final year of his contract with the Royals this season. Kenny must want a solid backup 3rd baseman. Interesting to say the least. Graffy was a class act with the Sox and the organization always liked him. His move was solely for more playing time and it didn't work out. I'd definately love to see him back on the South Side.

Lol...also Bmac makes the In the Photo section.

I looked to see if he was smiling when he siad it, but he kind of kept a straight face. He didn't do the best job selling it though...and ya, no doubt that pitch was intentional imo, but just don't say it, I don't want him getting a suspension.

Damn Mike......qwerty is coming for you though Congrats

- Says this year has been fun and that this year he's throwing more strikes, getting ahead of hitters, so guys can't just sit back and wait on a certain pitch. He says the reason for this is he's trying to attack a hitter, instead of trying to pitch around. Says part of it has to do with confidence with not only him but the whole team. Everyone's confident. - Says you know when you have good stuff during the pen, but it doesn't really mean much. - He feeds off the other starters and watches and listens to them and everyone does. - This year everyones getting along and there is great chemistry in the clubhouse. Says he doesn't know if you have to like each other, but it definately helps (they asked him how much chemistry matters) - The Twins are a good ball team with great chemistry and they aren't going to sit around, they'll play hard and come after the Sox. Says if the Sox can't take care of business, then they won't make the playoffs - Asked JG about Ozzie/Thomas situation and had no idea what they were talking about. Basically said what Ozzie says is what he says, he's honest. - Ozzie is a great manager and you wouldn't recognize him as the manager if you just walked into the clubhouse. He has a good time and keeps everyone loose. - They asked him about the fans...said he thought it was the weather that kept the fans yesterday. Feels once the weather gets better you'll see the fans. - Says the Cubs/Sox isn't a rivarly until they play them and you always want to win those games. - Says the pitch got away when he threw it behind Rondell. If he was in Rondell's shoes he wouldn't of gotten that made, he didn't hit him. Says if you want to come to the mound he's gonna defend himself (not that he's guarantee he'll hurt you) and that Rondell didn't scare him. - Growing up he watched the Dodgers and was a fan of Hershisher but doens't try to emulate any of them. On the bottom of the caption it says "Best Pitcher in the American League" in case anyone is curious.

Here he is.

I love the way Iguchi flips the bat after he pulls the ball for a hit or homer. Its kind of like Boone (Who I happen to hate) but more classy in a sense cause he just flicks it and starts running.
-
Thats not to say the hip won't bother him when he adjusts to the fastball and because of his hip he may be at the plate thinking he has to cheat on the fastball (which he never used to) and thats why he's pulling everything. If that makes sense. Its kind of the other side of the issue. We think he looks quick, but that may soley be because he's flat guessing fastball on everything because he's not comfortable adjusting to the fastball and looking more offspeed (technically speaking, most hitters look fastball and adjust to the breaking pitch).
-
Regardless of his hip you can watch his swing, his issue has nothing to do with quickness. He's still turning on fastballs like usual, but he's failing to go with the pitches. The main reason is he's having trouble recognizing them (especially the changeup down and away) and he's also a little greedy (which is unlike Paulie). Simply put he's trying to pull everything and your gonna have a hell of a time doing much anything when thats the case. Watch him start going opposite field and you'll start seeing him get back on his groove. He has hit the ball hard though, he's just been too quick. Basically his timing is off a bit on-top of him trying to pull everything.
-
Ya, I just heard them talk about it. Should be on this segment (sometime in the next 15 minutes).

QUOTE(Finkelstein @ May 4, 2005 -> 07:24 AM) As we all know, Paul is very hard on himself when things aren't going well. I wonder if the pressure of having to account for a large chunk of the power production, along with his impending contract status is forcing him to press in the batters box? Assuming that KW does want to keep him around beyond this season, I think that he needs to get a deal worked out ASAP. This will show the Sox commitment to him and should definitely help him to relax and start swinging a better bat. Don't wait until the season ends because the pressure on Paul will only increase. Agree or Disagree??? I tend to think he's got himself into a funk due to all the HR's he hit early. You can really see how he's trying to pull everything. The problem is he's pulling way too many pitches outside and just rolling over on it or popping it up weekly. And when he is pulling the ball he seems to be just a bit too quick. He's got to start forcing the issue to the opposite field. Once he does that you'll see him get back. On a sidenote, I'm stunned Everett is even hitting the ball because he has looked horrid at the plate. It seems as if he almost has been getting lucky lately on his hits (I'll take them though). All you have to throw is a changeup down and he's gonna chase it. Carl has been overly agressive if you ask me (although you can't really complain with the results thus far).
-
On a sidenote....The US NEEDS TO BUILD MORE REFINERIES. The damn environmentalist need to step aside and at least let us build one new refinery if not two or three. The biggest reason for these high prices are the fact that the US is already at capacity when it comes to producing the gas.

First Gload needs a little trip down to Charlotte where he can play everyday and get his swing right. I figure Burke will go down once Gload gets in some rehab Ab's down in Charlotte (assuming he can get things figured out).
-
QUOTE(JimH @ May 4, 2005 -> 08:00 AM) I still think Gload is in danger of losing his spot once he's healthy. Again, just speculating here but Ozzie likes the flexibility Burke provides. Plus, he likes Timo as the left handed bat off the bench. One other item of note, the Sox have Jeremy Giambi at AAA, he could play 1B also. I know one thing, once Gload comes off Lopez will go down before Burke does, imo. Thats assuming Zuna and Uribe are 100% by that time period. Lopez is in over is head in AAA, let alone the major league level. He's got a shot to be a decent player one day though. Hell, he's actually a lot like Ozzie. Not a bat average hitter, but won't walk worth a damn (nor will he strike out) and he's a pretty good fielder.

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ May 3, 2005 -> 11:29 PM) He has none, and will be put through waivers when Willie returns. Didn't he already clear once, therefor it isn't necessary for him to clear again for the remainder of the season? Or am I mistaken on that. On a sidenote, I'm assuming they won't take him off the 40 now?
