MLB TV prices?
Not sure...I know for MLB Xtra Innings it ends up getting more expensive after the season starts. I'm assuming they will have a different price at the all star break. Not sure what they do with mlb.tv though.

Chris Amador???
I'll say this, Collaro is making a believer out of me. But Amador would have to rake for a lot longer before I bought into him. Its just so unlike him. Collaro can flat rake though. If we were to do the top 25 today, I assure you he'd be one of the newcomers.

Vlad will most likely be out for the Sox Series
QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 21, 2005 -> 10:17 AM) I have the same problem, just switch Schilling with Schmidt, Percival, and Lyon. I got Percy too. For a while I had like 5 or 6 guys on the DL. Luckily my team is still good

Vlad will most likely be out for the Sox Series
My dad said he was listening to the radio this AM and they said the Angels feared it may be as long as 2-3 months but they still needed further tests. I'm assuming since they said partial dislocation, that he'll be out more like 2-3 weeks. Regardless, I now have Vladdy, Sheets, and Schilling on the DL after finally getting Berkman back

Brandon McCarthy To Make Major League Debut
QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 20, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) Good job Jason with all your work in FutureSox. I 'd like to publicly thank you for the Sox/Angels tix for Monday. If I manage to go to another game during the series I'll tell u which one so I can shake your hand and thank u in person. Best Regards Ron Thanks Ron. On a sidenote, I'll be at the rest of them for sure. Hopefully for the first time in what seems like forever the Sox can at least split a series in Anaheim (I'm not greedy).

Brandon McCarthy To Make Major League Debut
QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 21, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) Did you ever think that they may not want to mess with Garland's mojo by starting him a day early? Technically it woudln't be a day early. He will be pitching on Monday with an extra days rest. I don't think thtas a problem though because over the course of the season you like being able to give a guy an extra day every once in a while.

Listen to game on radio?
New question, anyone know how to get around a national blackout, LOL.

Brandon McCarthy To Make Major League Debut
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 21, 2005 -> 08:32 AM) Going by what I read in the thread, it was the Score who said Saturday. Either way it's pressure. Todya is national tv, tomorrow is still in wrigley against "the messiah". I personally would start Garland on Sunday on 4 days rest (normal for most) and then have B-Mac face Anaheim on Monday night in a more relaxed atmosphere. But then again I wasn't responsible for the 5th starter carousel so I'm sure they'll find a way to screw it up I think the issue with that is Brandon would be pitching on about 7 days rest (3 more than usual) and it could have a negative effect on him. If he goes on Sunday at least its 1 less day. The Sox think the world of Brandon and because of that they are going to give him that shot. He's so mentally tough that if he can do semi decent in this start against the Cubs, he will be able to take a lot of that and pitch in mostly lesser pressure games for the rest of the regular season. If Brandon pitches like I feel he can, he won't be moving down to the minors again this year (especially if Duque is going to miss 5 or 6 starts as opposed to 1 or 2). Brandon is ready for the show.

Listen to game on radio?
Oh man I just realized its a national blackout so you can get the games anywhere. Good thing for SNR

Cooper on the Score right now
QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ May 21, 2005 -> 08:26 AM) Is anyone else worried about the effect of not having El Duque around is going to have on Contreras? It seemed like he was a really good influence on Count--and I'm a little nervous about that..... If Duque is on the DL, he can still travel with the team if he wanted. Although he may just stay in Chicago.

Brandon McCarthy To Make Major League Debut
On a sidenote, as far as I know whatever station reported he was starting on Saturday was a bit premature. He's still slated for Sundays start, although things could change.

Brandon McCarthy To Make Major League Debut
QUOTE(longshot7 @ May 20, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) I'd like to vote for McCarthy starting on Sunday and Garland on Monday - mostly because I'm going to the Angels games and I wanna see him pitch. Yeah, I'm selfish like that. Even better. If Bmac starts today than I can see Bmac pitch on Thursday

Should Konerko take it himself?
Because its just in your head to get the ball to the pitcher. Its the way the play is made. Hell, I still don't know if Paulie would of got him had he not thrown it. Thats a play where you always throw it to the pitcher.

Rotation Possibility
QUOTE(FGarcia34 @ May 20, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) Very insiteful, anoyone else have an opinion? I'll pass, Zito is no longer the pitcher he was 2 years ago and beyond. Last year he was mediocre and this year he's proving that last year wasn't a fluke year. He's not bad, but he's not going to put the Sox over the top. A bat like Huff or Chavez...now that could possibly do it.

Let's Welcome Brandon
QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ May 20, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) Yeah, we were with Flores, Moat and I think Haig in the press box and they asked Cook what was the hold up. "IT'S RAINING" yelled Cook. Moat leans out the window and yells back "NO s***?" I think the stupid thing you asked if the weather was this bad last year to Flores...and he was in Bristol prior to that. lol. Thats right. Of course there was also the Bryant Nelson interview where i somehow managed to never record it (so we had to go off the stuff we remembered) I think I'm a gifted reporter, the kind the rides the short bus Plus don't you remember BoJingles

Let's Welcome Brandon
QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ May 20, 2005 -> 08:37 PM) Jason and I interviewed Haigwood in CF and Schnurstein along the first base side. Fairly nice field, but nothing topped Thirsty Thursday at Winston-Salem. Man, we were so pimping that rental car...and the Krispy Kreme shop. I just liked the rain delay line when we were up in the Kanny press box and one of the coaches was asking Haigwood, Flores and the others what was going on..."Its Raining". That and you trying to teach me how the hell to pronounce Micah's name correctly so I didn't f*** it up in the interview (of course I said something stupid in that interview..forget what). But on Thirsty Thursday Cerb and I showed off our "Guns"

Let's Welcome Brandon
I'd say Brandon is a very similar to Prior. Only one difference and you could say its a big difference too (depending on your take on velocity) and thats that Prior can throw consistently 3-4 MPH harder than him. Aside from that the two have pretty much identical stuff, both have very similar and what I'd call flawless deliveries. Plus both have just the ultimate streak of "cool" in them. It deals with just extreme mental toughness.

Brandon McCarthy To Make Major League Debut
Prior is the one guy I'd absolutely drool over getting on the SouthSide. Aside from Baker creating some injuries for him the guy is flat out AMAZING. When healthy, as good as it gets in my book.

Brandon McCarthy To Make Major League Debut
QUOTE(JimH @ May 20, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) Agree. Next thing you know they'll announce El Duque hurt his arm taking batting practice or something, LOL. On top of that, one thing Ozzie seems to like is having all of his guys ready in case someone goes down. I think he's learned this from his time in the majors (and that short lived time where he came off the bench) as well as from last years club which got hammered with injuries. To go one step farther, maybe he knows Duque is tired and on top of that he also realizes the odds of one of your starters going down for an extended period of time is likely so it would be wise to get Bmac's feet wet and to get him some experience at the ML level while the Sox have a cushion so come August or September (and someone goes down) he'll know he has a guy that could come up with some ML experience under his belt. Part of that scenario is a reason why I think later this year you may see Bmac pitch out of the pen (cause Charlotte won't be competing for the playoffs, so you know damn well they wont' be holding there prospects there for the sake of pleasing Charlotte). Regardless we knew we would see Brandon sometime this year, its just sooner rather than later and he's got the mental toughness to handle this situation.
