QUOTE(T R U @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 08:10 AM) I dunno, Oakland is not as scary as they have been in the past.. plus I like the way our team is built this year although sometimes they scare me with their low offensive production.. but the pitching has been there, and its been great.. Hey Nuke.. I wouldnt blame a tough start on Viz, he took one for the team in that ugly ugly game and if it wasnt for that he would have a pretty solid ERA right now.. He has been very good, along with everyone else, cept Dye.. but I think he will pick it up.. Its more the fact the Sox will be out on the West Coast and the West Coast treats the Sox about as it did the Bulls in years past.

I was thinking the Friday game vs the Dodgers was going to be the only one. On a related sidenote, I'm pumped..book my plane tickets today for Chicgao for that weekend

Fixed...Kanny is playing some good ball thus far though.

About damn time. Dizard is one of those guys who I liked righ whne the Sox drafted him. He's put up good numbesr but out of the pen. He's got a fantastic curve and early in his career at USC some people had compared him to Zito. This is a great move for him and a great move by the organization. Thanks for pointing this out Mike.

Hell I'd have to think the Sox would be looking to get a few guys up to Charlotte considering all those struggles. Bull may be one of those guys. The problem is I don't think the Sox want to cut some of the guys struggling in Charlotte right now.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) ...............THANK GOD!!!!!! Plus the Roulette wheel is now firmly packed away in the closet cause even if one of our starters goes down BMAC is chomping at the bit waiting for his shot. Although Brandon kind of struggled his past two starts down in Charlotte, I wouldn't be too concerned. Still he has some learning to do before being ready to dominate, imo. But he's going to be one hell of a pitcher.

I'm planning on being there the next time the Twins are in town. August 15th a monday, tues, wed series.

QUOTE(shakes @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) Steff, do you still listed to DP regularly? I can't take it without Dibble or a co-host. He's too serious now. I used to love the light heartedness of that show. That show was my favorite. Its still good, but I miss Dibble. He made that show hillarious.

The Barons win 4-1. Bull picked up the win going 5 innings while giving up just 1 run. Barons scored all 4 runs in the 2nd inning. Josh Fields hit a total bomb (solo shot) to centerfield and then Gonzo had an RBI single and Corey Haggerty a 2 run triple. BJ Lamura had 3 shutout innings of relief (4 K's) and Reynoso picked up his 1st save of the season. Sean Tracey (1-0, 2.61 ERA) will face Derek Thompson tomorrow afternoon.

Howard and Okafor get the nod over Gordon by me. However being that the two are big men they could split some of the vote with Gordon getting in. The thing is Howard and Okafor are essentially clones so you may have some people giving Howard the nod, others Okafor. Those will be the ones that give it to a guy that plays defense, gets boards, is on the court more, etc. Gordon will get all the votes for people that look at him leading the team to the playoffs, etc Who would I vote for...Howard, maybe Okafor, but it sure as hell wouldn't be Gordon. Gordon is 6th man of the year though, imo.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 07:49 PM) We got series against Detoilet and KC coming up. We should ( I emphasize SHOULD ) have no trouble beating up on these sissies. Nah, KC has been actually decent and Detroit has a very good offense. One game at a time Nuke, one game at a time. The Sox have had trouble with these type of mathcups the past few years so I ain't doing anything but hoping the Sox play good baseball.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 07:49 PM) Are these seats any good? Right behind home plate and only a few rows are them. Also you get unlimited food and parking passes. The Dodgers charge 450 for those seats out here. It is the 1st year they have them as well. I wouldn't get season tix back there, but I'd love to go to one game a year in them. I think it be a real blast.

QUOTE(Soxfan78 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) Nope, they are only avaliable for a full season ticket plan. Thats why they are empty. I dont want to do the math right now, but its a LOT of money... They changed it and you can now buy the seats on an individual game basis. However you have to call the Sox box office to get them (not ticketmaster).

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 07:32 PM) In the past, the Twinkies got ALL the breaks. Nah, they just made the plays and the Sox didn't.
-
Nah, Twins got some breaks with the Rowand call going there way and Torri making up for hit by robbing AJ of at least a double in which runners should of been on 2nd and 3rd at the time. And then yesterday the phantom Contreras balk call. At least thats what the Twinkies announcers were saying. They had no idea what Jose did to balk.

QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) i still hate him but he at least recognized us as the best team Dodgers are still the best team in baseball, but the SOx are definately playing well. Here's to having the Sox as the 2nd quickest team to double digit wins Now keep those wins a coming

Holy cripes...Gordon hits the bucket, Crawford jokes at the line and the Bulls win and get home court in the 1st round. I Think the first playoff game is Sunday against the Wiz???
-
now lets go get Detroit tomorrow
-
They won't. There offense is atrocious and the staff is not doing anybetter. I figured the vets like Stewie and Adkins would help that rotation out, plus they have what on paper looks to be a good pen. But that offense...UGLY. And Arnie Munoz has been ugly too.
-
So there were 27,000 there yesterday? No complaints from me, sure it could be more but thats not bad. Forgive me for being slow on the attendance, but my head has been stuck in books all day (Two tests tomorrow...ugh).

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) The crazy thing is it's not just the walks.... The formula for OBP is [H+BB+HBP]/[AB+BB+HBP+SF] The Sox have the most Sacrifice flies in baseball. The Sox have the least HBP in baseball. That combination with a terribly low walk rate, and an overall low average, spell ridiculously low OBP. The good news is they have been getting the sac fly when they needed it in tight games. -- The one-run record isn't 6-1 by mistake right now. -- Even though the Sox overall OPS is low, they rank among the league leaders in IsoP. And I would expect us to finish the season in the top 8 there, (so much for small ball). We may not hit the ball much, but when we hit it, it goes a long way. The one positive I can see from this is we really haven't seen any of the hitters get hot. To be honest I could even make the case that most of them are in slumps. You could make the case for Everett, Iguchi and Konerko having strong years thus far, but aside from that everyone is producing below career levels. You know early in the season that hte odds are that average and production will go up and in turn OBP will as well. It hasn't been pretty offensively thus far, but the Sox have gotten the key hits and little things done when necessary and as cheat says that is why they have the record they do, especially in one run games. And like I've siad for a long time, this team will still hit 200 HR's. The difference is it is semi capable of scoring runs without the homer and while we haven't seen that much yet this year, we have seen it win a couple games. As long as the staff keeps throwing the ball well, I'm not very concerned.

Thats pretty badass. I was even vizualizing the Twins (the Twins they show on the Beer commercials that is)

QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) I think Back in Black is a more fitting intro... but Thunderstruck is a great song nonetheless... AC/DC is on a s***load at the cell, and i aint complaining. I've long wanted the Sox to come out to Back in Black.

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 06:18 AM) I don't have a problem with what he said. This is like your boss, going to the paper and telling you to show up to work on Friday with a new attitude. Its pathetic. Ozzie needs to take care of this stuff in house. Give Frank a call and tell him whats up. If a question comes up asking about Frank and his role with the club...Ozzie should simply respond with I gave Frank a call and we talked about it. Its a move we will deal with when he's 100%, until then, I wish Frank nothing but the best in a speedy recovery but Everett is our DH.

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 05:01 AM) You took the words right out of my mouth Mike.. Apparently Ozzie wasn't listening when I tore Kenny a new a-hole about this s***. It makes me so sad that Ozzie is so selfish that he needs to make headlines about himself.. my opinion.. HE is the problem and the team doesn't need this distraction and HE should be relieved of his duties. Couldn't agree with you more Steff. I remember you didn't like the move from day one. I was just hoping his motivational skills would prove to be enough but its not going to, imo. He just doesn't get it.
