Guys I just want to point out
Well I know some of you may be wondering who this Western Avenue Hosting is. Anyway, no they didn't hack the site. For the first time ever we put up a small ad site and its also the first time this company has advertised. Its kind of an experiment by us and them just to see. They are a small local (from Chicago) hosting company that gives good service and their owner is a big Sox fan. They'll be stopping by on the site from time to time with some give-aways and there are some pretty cool other ads with some Sox spirit too them, that will go up. Anyway...even better is the fact that next month I'll be rolling in a porsche from all the money. I'm gonna give all mods and admins a free ride as a way to say thanks. In all seriousness the site for the first time ever is in a break even mode with a little net profit a month which can go towards some cool features for the site which we'll be rolling out from time to time. Its also the only ad space you'll ever see on the site. We never plan on having more then just that top little spot and there will never be popups. So if anyone is interested in web hosting, check out there site and talk to them and see if you like them.

"The Moderating Team"
He's actually not kidding. I had to think if there was any relation but I don't know of any other Jason in my family...only reason I think this is since my family is from Iowa. I mean...we all know, there's only one Jason Gage...a world renown lazy ass, among other things.

First Manager to Go
Dusty will be gone at the end of the year. He's ruined there franchise by running his pitchers into the ground like a jagbag. Sucks too because I happen to like Prior and Wood, even Zambrano.

Busy day in California courts...
How Blake was found no guilty and Peterson guilty I'll never know. To this day I have no clue how they found Peterson guilty. I guarantee you one thing, had Ms. Peterson not been pregnant I bet he would of been found not guilty. It has nothing to do with my personal opinion but the Peterson case had far fewer evidence then the Blake case. Of course the blake case they couldn't tie the weapon to him at all, but you'd think the solication would of been good evidence.

Psyched about the future
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) For the record I was in favor of trading for Vazquez at the expense of Koney in the off-season. I felt Garland + Koney for Vazquez was a reasonable price with the $ coming from the NYY for Vazquez. It was just plain stupid to trade CLee over Koney. Look at the difference in their OBP both at home & on the road over the years. Koney is not a moneyball player. Since the D'Backs never upgraded 1B I believe that option is still out there. Jun will feature some major home stands that will greatly boost Koney's value for teams that need his bat. The D'Backs are clearly one of those teams & considering the price they paid for Green & Glaus 45M/5yr is probably what they'd agree upon with Koney. Locking Vazquez up for 3 yrs would solidify the rotation to make a major WS run. The schedule tips the scales to the Cell in the first 3 months. That should boost Koney's stock & keep Garland's & Contreras about the same. The boost in Koney's stock should allow KW to use the lessor of the two (Jon, or Jose) to complete the trade. Umm, the Dbacks have Troy Glaus and Chad Tracy slated to play 1st and 3rd base and they LOVE Tracy.

Psyched about the future
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) Did you bother to even read the thread? I said near the break. BMAC still has something to prove in AAA & the Sox need for Garland/Contreras to at least improve their trade value. Mid June is a better target. The thread was predicated on BMAC's dominance in ST in terms of throwing strikes & not giving up runs in HR haven AZ parks. Both are very rare things to happen. I don't recall any member of the Sox or the Cub in recent yrs doing what BMAC is doing in ST. Now if you want to ignore that (ignorance seems to fit some of you quite well) that's your option to do so. But I on the otherhand look at such a rare thing & start thinking maybe this is our time. Maybe the White Sox have finally caught some good luck & are looking at the makings of a bonified ace. You don't make an ace, they make themselves. Hudson, Mulder, Zito, Harden, Maddux & yes Marky B all proved they had ace potential in their first year. Prior proved it as well. He's at best right now an ace in the making in the mold of Pedro. Don't expect 30+ starts from him any year. So I don't buy into the philosophy that you have to wait around with aces in the making. If BMAC is getting it done in Charlotte by mid June he should be added to the rotation. The Twins were in a similar situation with Santana. He deserved to be in the rotation but they held him back. If not for injuries to starters they might have lost it that year in doing so. They also might have lost Santana in that process. Luck shined on them. It seems to be shinning on the ChiSox. You have to take advantage of it. As for Koney I've crunched the numbers for you on many occasions. He's a great player at the Cell (900OPS) & an above average at best player on the road (780OPS). That's not worth 45M/5yr (what he's expected to sign for elsewhere). Better to get Vazquez for him now then a pick later. I'm assuming if the ChiSox don't sign him that they will offer him arbitration & at least get a comp pick when he leaves. That's what makes the most sense. Thomas on the hand when healthy has proven to be a 1000OPS player at the Cell & a 900OPS player on the road. The choice is obvious. Julio Ramirez had a break out spring a few years back. Should the Sox of dealt Maggs and gave him right field????

Spring Training Impressions, first hand
QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 08:33 AM) Two more observations: Kris Honel, saw him pitch, it was wacky. He couldn't get his grip on the ball and threw one to the back screen and another where the catcher had to jump way up to catch it. He got cuffed around too. Did not see any radar gun readings but it didn't look like he had his velocity. It was only one outing but he was awful for that particular inning. Paulino Reynoso: Saw him pitch and he opened up some scouts eyes. Heard them all asking one another, "who is this guy?" "Is he a converted position guy, where did they get him?". Then, they started charting and getting the radar gun out. Reynoso blew a couple of guys out and we saw his slider coming right at us, nasty. Good heat on the fastball too, saw one radar gun register 92. Did not get a chance to ask Williams about him but in my eyes if he keeps progressing he is a possible lefty specialist. I liked him. I'm pretty sure Reynosos is a converted infielder, or something, but not 100% on that.

Frank must testify at Thursday's hearings
Congress has better things to do. Unless the cops or the feds want to arrest these guys for steroids. Otherwise, leave this to major league baseball for christ sake. Plus for cripes sake, why put Thomas and Schlling in the same group with all these guys accused of being on roids.

As sad as it is stupid...
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 01:29 PM) In North Dakota? or even Iowa? Now, if they are 6'5 200 with a great jump shot, I'll give you that I'm sure Lebron in 8th grade could kick my ass in basketball.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 14, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) Here is a nice article on Rashad McCants. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story...=jackson/050314 By the way, does anyone NOT have NC State beating Charlotte? Thats almost a no brainer to me, I'm just wondering if others see it different. I picked NC STate, but you just cursed that pick for me Chris I like NC State as a team that could make some noise.

Psyched about the future
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) I think if we have learned anything over KW's tenure it's that he will trade anybody if he thinks he can improve the team. It all comes down to what KW thinks we'll need to get past the Twins in the 2nd 1/2. If he thinks Vazquez at the cost of Koney will do more good than harm he'll do that trade. Jason, this team has not had a better than 500 road record since 2000. It's senseless to ignore that fact & how it has done in the Sox the past 4 yrs. I took another look at Koney's road stats & they are better than his 04 #'s but again if your #4 hitter only puts up a 750OPS #'s on the road your team's at a disadvantage. Putting that aside do you think Koney is going to sign for anything less than 5 yrs & if you were KW would you sign him to that? Again we can't ignore the $ Glaus, Beltre, & Drew got this off-season. I think it would be a mistake to commit 40M/5 yr to Koney. Those teams didn't have a 5th starter. So instead you suggest dealing one of the Sox starters and putting Bmac in right for the stretch run??? There is only one thing that beat the Sox the past few years and it was there pitching and themselves. It had nothing to do with Paulie. Think about it, good teams win on the road because they have pitching and a bullpen and the Sox didn't have that the past few years. This year they may just have it. I know they got a darn good bullpen, we'll see how El Duque, Contreras and JG do. And no, Kenny isn't stupid. If they are in this he'd deal prospects, he wouldn't deal Konerko. You don't improve your team trading Konerko for Vazquez. Its pretty much a wash.

QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 02:37 PM) The walk that he gave up was to Figgins and the only reason it came went to a 3 ball count was because the umpire completely blew a 1 ball 2 strike curve that caught all of the plate. It was such a nice curve that I thing the ump was as frozen as Chone. Ya, they showed the replay and it definately caught the strike. It was a sweet backdoor curve. Stoney made a funny comment saying if that pitch wasn't called a strike when he was on the mound his career would of lasted half an inning.

Interesting Question about the Sox
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) This is simple, nobody. We finally have some starting pitching depth and Brandon could still use some time at charlotte. If Brandon continues to dominate in aaa which I'm sure he will and the scenario arrives where he gets his shot in the majors and continues to impress then we look into some trade possibilites.

Ozzie on Mac, Jurko, and Harry right now!
Ozuna had a double today and made a decent play. One thing I notice is his arm isn't near as good as Uribe's, but whose is, lol.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 15, 2005 -> 02:27 PM) We play Arizona next monday. Could be that game, but I doubt ESPN is in a hurry to televise a Sox/D'Backs game. That may be it. I know they said they would be there next week. I sure as hell hope so. That be so sick to see 2 Sox games on ESPN spring training. My guess is they want to show different teams though. But this was the 2nd time I"ve seen the Angels on ESPN so who knows. Stoney said he'd be in the booth too.
