soxfest announcement
In reference to the Sox waiting till Soxfest to announce something I find it highly unlikely as well as highly stupid. If they have two guys who have agreed to deals and are just waiting till Soxfest to ink them then assuming those guys have yet to sign the contract then the Sox are really risking another team coming in and snagging what they thought they had. Now if they can somehow be sly and sign both of them to deals or whoever the hell they are looking at to a deal and keep it quiet till Soxfest more power to them I guess. But I highly doubt it. Trust me, if the Sox were to sign Pyrz or someone else quality right now that buzz would carry over to fest.

Iguchi Close to Signing with Sox?
I just don't see why the NY Post would know more about this issue then the local radio and news guys. Because of that I think everyone should caution themselves cause nothing is done yet. I'd fall over in shock if they signed Pyrz, Iguchi, and Nenn to deals...but I don't think the odds are great. I think they may have two more signings left in them and for sure they will go for a backup middle infielder, but the key to me is getting Pyrz. He's such a major upgrade over what the club has at that position. I can only hope.

UPGRADE ISSUES
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 5, 2005 -> 08:06 AM) Any update on whether we're going to get the normal black skin that we had previously before the board was upgraded? Maybe I'll surprise everyone and take care of it today...but its doubtful, lol. By the way for the people who couldn't see the 2nd quote box, there is something odd going on. On my browser at work (mozilla) I see the quote + and the normal quote. On my browser at home (mozilla) I see the quote+ and then a reply" For those that are seeing the reply" and were having trouble quoting, that is the button you should hit for a normal quoted reply.

UPGRADE ISSUES
I can't figure it out. And I tried messing with the control panel area to remove it and was going through all the html and php code and could find nothing that would let me make the default unchecked. So either I'm going to remove that skin or you guys will have to uncheck the boxes until I figure out another way, which could be done tomorrow with a fresh mind. I just looked through all the html templates though and couldn't find anything for the quick post area.

Happy Birthday 1549!
Happy Birthday Rob. Hopefully all is well with you and your family. Have a kickass bday and maybe Pyrz or someone else will join the Sox on your bday

UPGRADE ISSUES
Ok, fantastic news. I've solved the issue. The reason your only getting some of the threads to show up in your subscription is because there is an error in the fast reply using the bordline gray theme. If you click on fast reply and then look below the type in box for the reply. You will see 3 check boxes, and all three are checked. However, the enable notification of replies should be unchecked, but for whatever reason the default on that theme has it checked. I'm going to either scrap that theme, try to find a way to change the default via the php, or hope you guys can find a way to change it in your control panels where it doesn't come up as a default. If you can, one of you give me a screen shot of your email controls portion of my controls and then I can maybe diagnose it there as well.

Also, another thing you want to check for. When you make a post on fast reply, is your default coming up with the Enable email notification of replies being unchecked?

Ok, I think we may be onto something here. Is anyone using the regular Default Skin getting this problem? Out of curiosity soxnbears, can you change to the default temporarily and see if the problem goes away. I'm pretty sure goldmember is using the borderline grey as well.

Ok, going to ask. What skin are you guys using? Maybe it somehow is stemming from the skin. I know I'm using just the plain skin. Are all of you using like dark grey or something? If so then I could isolate it to an issue with that. Goldie can you give me a screenshot of what your email controls look like. That way I'll check and see if mine match what you show.

Thats good. I also made a change in the settings, so maybe that did it. If you start getting emailed again though, then I'm pretty sure it stems from that portion.

UPGRADE ISSUES
Ok, here's the fix. Go to your control panel. Then click on email settings. Then look on the very bottom. Make sure you don't have the "Enable Email Notification by default checked. If you have it checked then it will email you for every post you have selected. I think that will get those that are receiving the emails all fixed. But you guys tell me if it works , if it doesn't i'll look around for something else.

Terry Shea Fired
I don't think this means its going to necessarily be a guy from the Rams or Chiefs. I think the basic idea is they want to run an agressive offense. The key to me is, implement slant routes, don't let your qb sit and die. Make sure you stick with the run, call the ocassional RB screen, call the toss plays to the outside from time to time and also throw deep slants and other deeper routes. Utilize the TE as well. I don't get why coaches try to get so creative, like Shea I don't know what the hell he was thinking.

Odd Sports Question I need Help With
Abbot was and still is awesome in my mind. Amazing story and a very good pitcher during his MLB career. I loved it when he was with the Sox too

Terry Shea Fired
If I recall the Ravens OC is a former Bears assistant from the Wanny years. Linehan, the Vikings OC, is a free agent and could be a good acquisition. There was a period where many thought he'd be an oustanding head coach. IT should be interesting, but Fassel and Norm Chow are other guys plus Norv Turner and you could even see them interview Ron Turner.

Levine Reports on Sox Offers
QUOTE(redandwhite @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) ..but Timo Perez tied a game in Anaheim in a White Sox loss! he's so clutch! :rolly By the way, that game was Ross Gload's doing, not Timo's. Gotta disagree with ya on one thing. No way is Joe Borchard better then Timo. Sad but true.

Terry Shea Fired
Shea isn't being fired for the system. The system has worked sucessfully. He's being fired for the way he implemented the system, ie his play calling and utter stubborness to listen to the rest of his coaches. Its been well documented that Drake (WR Coach) was fighting with Shea to get Gage out there. The bears feel that gage is the best reciever out there and he wouldn't get used by Shea. Then you have another assistant offensive coach who got in an argument with Shea during the Indy game when Shea called for a play with Clark and someone else and neither players were in the game. When the assistant coach came in and talked to Shea about it when the play call was made Shea just ignored his comments. Shea is a freaking prick bag. Shoop was never as incompetent as this deuche.

Bears Draft Pick Poll
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 11:02 AM) From what I have read and heard Lovie will bring in someone to run the same system if they do end up firing Shea. It is not the system they are having a problem with, it is the person calling the plays and the person running the system they have a problem with. Lovie loves the St. Louis/KC offense and wants to run it here. I do agree with you that you need a TE, but I don't see a difference maker in that dept. The TE from Virginia (Heath Miller) is supposed to be pretty good. I think thats his name and where he played. I've heard a few people who watch Virginia play say he's the real deal. I can't say cause I never really payed much attention to them.

Bears Draft Pick Poll
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 10:59 AM) Walter Jones and Orlando Pace will be franchised so you can forget about them. You named one offensive lineman out of how many? Remember Johnathan Ogden? Jordan Gross? Tony Boselli? John Tait? Orlando Pace? Walter Jones? There are a ton others that are definately worth it and D'Brickashaw Ferguson is thought of as a franchise type LT especially if he adds more bulk. Scouts say he may have the best footwork for any OT ever! WRs turn out to be busts more than not in the first round. Much more so than OTs. Orlando Pace will be in Cleveland. I have this on good source that this is the team he most wants to go to. If he's franchised then its much more unlikely, but he wants to go back to Ohio. Walter Jones may not get franchised. Alexander and Hasselbach are both out there and could be priorities over Jones who has wanted out of Seattle for some time now.

Terry Shea Fired
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) Maybe Shea wasn't the best guy for this job, but holding him responsible for that mess is like firing the weatherman in Thailand for not predicting the precipitation that came through... Disagree with ya. Shea put this upon himself. - He recommended Quinn to be the backup and stuck with him too long - Ignored Lovie's stance of getting Hutchinson more reps in practice earlier - Refused to go up to the box so he could actually see what was going on - Refused to make any adjustments - Refused to stick with the run (Jones would average 4.5 a carry some games and would just not get used at all - Did all he could to make that offensive line so much worse. I'm am talking about him just getting pass happy when the run was working. I'm talking about how he wouldn't utilize the slant route which is one of the most effective routes in football right now. its quick developing, high percentage and forces db's to play tighter coverage, thus opening the deeper routes. Failed to call more 3 step drops with the oline struggling - O shea did so many horrible things that I could continue going on and I'm not even an imaginative person. I've been calling for his firing for about 7 or 8 weeks now and I couldn't be happier. This guy was the biggest piece of crap of an OC that I have ever seen. This offense ranked dead worse in the NFL in pretty much every major category. I can't get over how excited I am that the Bears stepped it up and removed this guy. And I don't want anyone telling me he's a rookie and needs to learn. He's 53 years old, IIRC, and has been around the game such a long time. Its obvious to me why he's been around so long and never been an OC in the NFL. And look at his Rutgers team, it blew.
