New A.J. info--Sox have him for at least two years
Nice, and the arb would be based on this new contract and not the previous one, meaning there is a good shot he'd be around another year if he produced.

Score just reported Sox sign AJ
OMFG, I go out to lunch and come bcak and wowzers am I excited. Kenny = THE MAN

Rumors thread
Want to point out. Odalis Perez' deal is likely contingent upon Green going elsewhere, ie Arizona. The 3yr 24 mill deal is the tenative agreement which will be signed if the Green deal goes through.

Kap can give you a bit better info than I can. But its located in Indiana and runs on a Linux platform. I don't remember the specifics in terms of clock speed, bandwith capabilities, and memory.

White Sox exact offer to A.J. Pierzynski...
Guys I'm not going to say it again. Keep that other stuff the heck out of this thread. There is a thread at SL&P for those that want to discuss that.

White Sox and Iguchi far apart in Negotiations
Ok, I'm going to explain my side of the argument as best as possible. Had the Dodgers kept Mota and LoDuca they would of been taking on more money then just Brad Penny, a lot more in fact. According to Depodesta the Dodgers payroll is a lot smaller this year. There pitching staff would of been in bigger dissaray had they not made that deal because Penny wouldn't be on the staff and then they wouldn't of had the money to resign Odalis Perez, leaving them Weaver and Ishii. Basically put, Depodesta has to move payroll before doing anything else. And there were no reports on Penny being injured prior to the trade. However, Penny has long been a guy who has a black flag on him because they think he may be prone for an injury. Now you can definately question the motives of the deal last year considering it was a penant race, but had Penny been healthy the Dodgers would of had a better shot with him in the rotation then LoDuca and Mota, imo. The Dodgers lacked front line pitching and needed it. Letting Finley walk came down to financial issues and the Dodgers didn't have the money for both him and Drew so they opted for Drew. I see reason for arguments, but people are giving the man no time. He's agressive and an upgrade over Dan Evans. Would I take him over Kenny, no, but I'm a rare Ken Williams supporter although there seem to be more of them this offseason, especially if he lands Pyrz and/or Iguchi.

Split from the Pyrz Thread
Ok, I've split all those posts out and moved him to SL&P. You guys can continue your debate over here. Personally I don't think anyone here posting meant anything as a racial slur. Just my 2 cents on the issue.

Magglio's "Home Town Discount"
QUOTE(USAF_11F4H @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 10:01 AM) Tribune report of Ordonez supposedly offering "home town discount" to Cubs. How wrong would *that* be.... Ya right. I do recall numerous interviews with Scott Boras where he says I don't believe in Hometown discounts or something to that extend. I do think there is a good shot the Cubs will land him. However, the Orioles have been rather quiet of late and could make a push.

White Sox and Iguchi far apart in Negotiations
What mistakes??? This guy has actually done a decent job running the Dodgers and seems to have a plan. Sometimes I scratch my head and wonder, but I think those original RJ rumors were so far fetched it wasn't even funny. So he dealt Green, knowing it meant he could free up the room to get Odalis Perez and Elo. Now Green wants to come back, but they have JD Drew whose going to end up replacing him. Plus the guy traded for this little known player Jayson Werth, who when healthy was looking like a guy with pretty good upside. I think he's out for half of the year though. Guys with no trades get dealt all the time, Green just doesn't want to go, but that doesn't mean you don't just keep trying to move him hoping he sees the picture and finally accepts moving elsewhere.

Another 2B gone
Geeze, I don't get the hatred for Grudz. This was a good pickup and I'd of been quite pleased had the Sox gotten him. I've watched this guy for years and he's nothing but a class act. Hits for a good average when healthy and will do everything you ask of him even though he has limited physical talent.

Guys, I haven't read enough of this thread to know whats going on, but lets get over it. Cut the personal argument out and talk about the players.

White Sox exact offer to A.J. Pierzynski...
I think 2.5 gets Pyrz, maybe a little less, but we'll wait and see. I wish the Sox would go more then 1 year with him though cause they got jacks*** in the farm system when it comes to starting catchers anywhere near major league ready.

White Sox and Iguchi far apart in Negotiations
QUOTE(chisox2334 @ Jan 6, 2005 -> 11:07 AM) its called since arizona isnt coming close to contract extension. Means dodgers will not get the propsct catcher they want. Meaning Aj will be on their sites and if iguchi and his agents dont give him answer probably by tommrrow kenny will take money he offered and iguchi and give it aj. The question is whether they have the money for Pyrz. They being the Dodgers. We'll have to see, but I think we'll know by Friday, which is what I've been saying for a while. I'm just going to hope for it to happen, but expect nothing.

White Sox and Iguchi far apart in Negotiations
It has nothing to do with Depodesta that Green nixed the deal. I'm a little lost. Obviously this would indicate the Sox are playing hard ball with his agent. Personally I'd say screw it, 300K isn't much just get it done. If its a mill each year thats another story. So the Sox want him to decide quickly so they then know there cap situation for Pyrz? That would be my guess. Maybe Kenny wants both and is pretty much maxed out budget wise (we don't know what JR is telling him) and doesn't have any leeway if he plans on getting both. He could end up losing out on both. We'll just have to wait and see. Pyrz is priority number 1 in my book, doesn't mean he is in the Sox book though.

Most Improved Player In The NBA
I'd have to go with Nazr or Bobby Simmons. A lot of those guys have been quality players for a while. Larry Hughes is far better, but was always solid. Same can be said for Qrichardson.

TIVO
I like the way you think Ian. Were still debating whether to send in our season ticket deposit or not. The problem is we really think they are going to have a fun team to watch this upcoming season.

Esteban Loaiza
This is a good pickup. He'll be a fan favorite if he pitches anything near what he did two years ago for the Sox. I'm assuming they' finally inked Odalis Perez cause the papers out here said all that stuff was premature.
