  1. Ya, assuming his arm can handle it, he's a future closer. Actually if healthy things could turn out quite well for him. He's made some growths as a person if I recall. Still very rough on the edges, but holy hell, very good move.
  2. The problem is, if Gammons says something its still useless cause its Gammons, lol.
  3. Awesome. I was going to make a most saying the Sox should pick him up, lol. I saw he was designated for assignment yesterday.
  4. Interesting he mentions Cabrera's name on the SouthSide. It would obviously be a hell of a defensive infield but I wouldn't have much interest in it at all, especially considering the money he's looking for. Goodness I hope we get Clement.
  5. At this point who knows...it could be RJ, lol. I'm hoping when I get back from my final I see a huge ass thread invovling the Sox new pitcher coming here.
  6. Tonight was better then any of them this year. Since his McCourt rants. I can't wait to get back to work tomorrow so I can get him all riled up again
  7. Haha, I remember that. I even remember some article talking about a late stream of Thomas votes but it wasn't enough. Thomas was hosed from the team that year.
  8. I can see the argument for more wins, but even that I'm not big of a fan on. I think with the rainouts and everything else, its pretty much invevitable that the number 5 will face an ace near as much as they face a #5 so its at least a semi wash. Late in the season that wouldn't hold to be the case. I could maybe see Garland doing more due to the fact he gains confidence from the wins and feels less pressure, but he doesn't seem like a guy that lets the pressure effect him.
  9. It could be like when they dealt Brown and his doctors guaranteed that his body would not hold up for an entire season. Ya, from what I heard they thought he could recover but it was like unchartered waters medically, which probably made them nevrvous. But they could of always non-tendered him or taken the chance on him and just found another place for Green and signed a starter, imo. Then they'd of kept Brazo. The good news is if Niavarro goes, then it means the Dodgers wouldn't likely offer Pyrz more then a one year deal. If that, cause they may just plan on starting him, although I find it unlikely that he's ready for the majors yet, at least not defensively.
  10. Technically the Dbacks and Yanks may get antsy and let another team get involved to replace the Dodgers for a little less. Still, I'm not too excited anymore. I'd rather just get Perez or Clement and Pyrz.
  11. I think its mainly the news of the deal. Gets a lot of long time readers to register as well as people tend to join the site a lot during this part of the offseason. Often times people have a lot more free time and make there way over. Word of mouth always helps too. Its always neat watching the site grow.
  12. Beautiful....Hirnrich came out and did his job too after you motivated him qwerty, lol.
  13. Ya didn't realize that until I checked through the end of the threads. Well I hope it goes down just for closure. Plus the Dbacks did a pretty damn good job from what I can tell. Actually I think they'll have a decent team thanks to the deal.
  14. The deal is horrible for the Dodgers. I don't care how good Navarro is or however you spell his name. They save some money this year but in the long haul it costs them money. Green and Penny is at most 21 mill and they are acquiring 30 some old mill in Vazquez. Plus I wouldn't deal Penny straight up for Vazquez unless the Dodgers think his arm is going to fall off. Then they give up Green as well, which isn't all that bad, but Brazoban, gimme a break. They must be jumping into the JD Drew, Carlos Beltran or Carlos Delgado sweepstakes after this. Plus they still need pitching.
  15. Could the media really be this far behind in the sense that this deal was done for Beltre? I mean he signed a while ago. Unless the Dodgers plan on getting a hold of him before he signs the dotted line, lol.
  16. Green is from Orange County. When he came to LA it was like a welcome home. His parents are really nice and run a batting cage he owns down in my area that high school teams and little league teams go to a lot. He goes by and talks to the kids a lot too. Don't know if he still does all this, but he did a few years back. I'm sure he's really dissapointed to leave LA.
  17. The guy was in AAA at 20 and held his own. I don't deal the guys in this deal for Navarro but he's a legit prospect considering his age. The thing is young catchers are a major risk.
  18. Alright, someone may of talked this in another thread, but I am too lazy to go through and read through pages of RJ being dealt threads to catch up, lol. Anyway as someone who was long a proponent of getting Randy Johnson. I am glad that both him and Hudson are off the market. Think, if RJ was still out there or Hudson was still out there then Kenny probably wouldn't go gungho at Clement or Perez cause they weren't his first option. Instead those two guys would be off the market and the Sox would probably still be unable to lure either guy (whether they wanted Hudson or not, I don't know). With these two guys off the market, Kenny now is forced to focus in on the remaining pitchers and the trade front is closed. Considering he has money and has an up on Clement (since he wants to stay in Chicago) he should get a deal done. I'm hoping the Sox get the last call with a shot to match any offer. *crossing my fingers that Clement is a White Sox by tomorrow*
  19. Ian, I can't stop laughing at the site of you getting all excited and then just picturing your response when you realized it wasn't the case, LOL. Hillarious. You'd be laughing right now...walked into the door tonight and my dad was asking me what the hell the Dodgers just did. I still have no clue why they did it. They are gaining payroll long term and giving up Brazoban, Penny, and Green for Vazquez who imo isn't better then Penny (if Penny is healthy).
  20. Fingers Crossed that when I finish my final and head to the office that I'll log onto Soxtalk to see a deal has been made with the Sox
  21. It specifically says 3 way talks though; So that doesn't necessarily mean that the Sox aren't talking directly about RJ but who knows. I'm not a patient person when the Sox have money and have a dire need for another starting pitcher.
  22. Ya, but the Sox logo on the hat looks a little funny
  23. Bruce Levine reports that the Sox are no longer in the running for a 3 way deal that would involve the Yanks and Dbacks but that the Dodgers, Yanks and Arizona are working on a deal that could involve as many as 10 players. They also once again mention that the Sox may target Pyrz.
