Nah, it was more a Depodesta rant. He's been quiet on McCourt for a while, but those were the best

Paulino Reynoso can easily be dropped.

If they are negotiating with someone this quote is a good play. Makes it sound like the Sox have limited resources so they won't hold out. For example, agents are going to always ask for more from Detroit cause they know they have the budget for it from all their yapping. That being said I don't expect anymore major signings, although I do think they still have about 4-5 mill available for FA, which will be about two role players. One middle infielder and a potential replacement for Konerko.

Washington post was reporting that Perez may have an offer on the table from the Generals worth around 5 million per season. Also, if the Cards acquire Hudson it likely means they drop their offer with Renteria and possibly cut negotiations with Placido Polanco.

Before they consider cutting ties with him, the Twins will talk to Jacque Jones about a multiyear deal at the winter meetings. The Twins probably won't risk going to arbitration with Jones, but if he's willing to accept around $5 million or so per season, perhaps a multiyear deal could be worked out. Jones just finished up a two-year, $7.1 million contract. That comes from the startribune. Here's another blurb from their on Koskie Corey Koskie is willing to take less money from the Twins, but he'll want a no-trade clause in return. "I can't take a hit here, then get traded somewhere," he said. According to his agent, Koskie has a three-year, $16 million contract on the table from an undisclosed team. However, the third baseman might still be willing to stay in Minnesota for $9 million-$10 million over two years. That'd be a pretty good deal for the Twins.

Their is some talk in New York about a potential Soriano for Kevin Brown deal with the Rangers.

Alright lets take a little closer look at this. Cora is 29 and made just 1.3 million this past season. He's going to be released pretty much in the prime of his career. He's also a versatile player who can play both shortstop and 2nd, although is a much better 2nd baseman. Shows decent pop for a 2nd baseman (10 HR's), but isn't much of a base thread. However, rarely strikes out and has a pretty decent eye. .364 OBP would look awful nice in the two hole. As far as his splits go, his 3 year splits (albeit only 100 or so ab's against lefties) and he is a .286 hitter, which is better then his splits against righties. By the way I should also add that he was playing in the best pitchers park in all of baseball not named after a Pets store.

You should hear my dad. He's swearing up a storm (and he NEVER swears). I was just laughing my ass off at his emotions. God its great working with your pops. To top it off when I told him Cora may get non-tendered he damn near fell over and had a heart attack (cora is one of his favorites on the Dodgers)
-
Absolutely HORRIBLE move.
-
I have more then a feeling that Konerko will be gone by the time non-tenders come around and Gload won't be the starting first baseman, imo.
-
That doesn't seem like a bad idea, only thing is I don't know if Bmore would give up all that for Konerko.
-
Jesus...add Gordon and Vazquez for those two and I'd do it in a heartbeat. Crosby is a solid backup outfielder too, imo.
-
Well he's not the guy to lead us to greatness. But Kenny has brought in two very good role players. Two very good signings, imo. The key to this offseason will be what starter is added, but the two additions thus far are very good imo. With Gibbons and Cora as potential pickups around the non-tender period.
-
Yes, they will acquire a starting pitcher at the meetings. Or at least set the groundwork for a deal.
-
i'd be a fan of Cora. Solid defensively and can play both infield positions. Also a quality guy. If he gets non-tendered, he'd be a fantastic signing. Adding another quality role player just makes sense. Plus he's only getting better.
-
Thats horrible. Thoughts go out to their family.

If the Sox give up Konerko and Garland get Tracy and Vazquez fine by me. Obviously if Konerko is headed the Dbacks way then it would mean Tracey is available. Still, I just don't see that type of deal happening, although I'd be pleased if the Sox could get Vazquez while hanging onto Garland. I'm still hoping somehow they pull Hudson, but I just don't know if they could work out a 3 way with the Braves and A's. I think Garland is better then Suppan but I don't know how many others do. And then give up Anderson and its a similar package to what the Cards are giving up, imo with the Braves getting some of them and A's getting Giles and something. Then again you could also center the package around Konerko cause the Braves could drastically use a bat to replace JD Drew, but I don't know if they'd want that bat at first.
-
Geeze...Jeff Kent 2 yr 17 million. Am I the only one who thinks they drastically overpaid. Kents a solid ballplayer, but he's not an 8.5 mill a year guy anymore. Makes the Jermaine Dye move oh so much sweeter
-
As of this point yes, although he can close and will close on days where Shingo is tired.
-
Its no secret in my mind that the Sox are going to make a deal during the winter meetings or at the very least get the groundwork laid for a deal. Konerko has to be the guy going and I think in the end the Sox are stubborn in regards to giving up Garland, unless of course they have pencilled a darkhorse 5th starter candidate to replace Garland. Cause Grilli will not be the 5th starter.
-
Wow ,that makes me like Dye even more. Class act
-
God, I couldn't imagine, but I'd of flipped out. I'm a patient person, but when someone calls me a liar, thats it, I flip. Jesus, these morons learned nothing about business cause if they did they would of realized his lifetime value and considering his history with best buy they would of immediately replaced the item.
-
Absolutely stupid siging. I like Glaus, but he was worth nothing more then 8. He can't hit for any type of average and while capable defensively, he's prone to way too many lapses. Garbage move by the Dbacks, especially when you take his health into consideration.
-
I'm telling you, Pavano will be an Angel. He's due to meet with the Angels the day after the winter meetings.
