  1. You could be onto something their. The only thing is would Konerko alone be enough because the Dbacks have long said they have a big time need for pitching. And with them about to sign Troy Glaus (rumor) it would really make you wonder if Konerko would be heading their.
  2. I was surfing through some Yankee boards trying to see if anyone their heard anything on their radio. Caught on interesting thing. Some radio station out in New York was reporting that the Yankees acquired Felix Rodriguez to make way for Tom Gordon to go to Arizona along with Vazquez, 12 mill in cash, Hasley and two minor leaguers. But the posters were squalking whether it was true or not. They also said the Yanks were close to signing Milton and that some in the org are making a push to sign Wright instead of Lieber (isn't Lieber pretty much signed now???).
  3. The Yanks may of countered with a lower package saying, get us Garland and Konerko and we'll call it a deal. Who knows, things could change, especially with the Sox backing out of the RJ sweepstakes.

We all know I'd be all for this.
  5. Holly would be a nice pickup as a backup type guy. He could even play, only problem is he gets injured way too much to be an everyday player. I've always been a Holly fan though. On a sidenote, KW will be tarred and feathered if he trades Konerko for Millar and Roberts. Remember what the BoSox gave up for Roberts and remember that Roberts is soley a pinch runner in their current system. They will move him for a solid bullpen arm, so screw a package centered around Konerko. Unless the Sox got Damon...NO DEAL. I do think Roberts would be a vet pick up though.
  6. Its too bad cause he's better then Contreras, doesn't have a long term contract, and costs less money. Yet the Sox are gonna give up Jonny boy :fyou Not that I have a problem trading Garland, I can't stand Contreras making the money he is. But who knows, maybe this time next year I'll be talking about what a bargain Jose is. I sure as hell hope so.
  7. I'm going to hold out hope that the Sox make a move by Friday. Then they enter the winter meetings hoping to finalize another move. I expect two moves done by the end of the meetings.
  8. Ya, was a founding father of this country. But I figured the Phillies would own the rights to him Otherwise their is no Ben Franklin that I can find in the Yankees farm system.
  9. Borchard isn't juicing. He's much too smart to do something like that. Only two players I would consider on the Sox and thats Jose Valentin and Billy Koch. But Jose really hasn't had much of a difference in size and I'd hope he'd be smarter then that. I guess Uribe and Davis are big guys too, but I'd like to think its all natural. I'd be pissed if I saw some Sox caught up in this, but on the most part I think they are a clean team.
  10. Would the Yanks give the Sox an arm or a bat? I highly doubt they would get Tom Gordon, but maybe Felix Rodriguez was acquired to send in a deal. Could the Sox get a n arm from the Dbacks or a bat from the Dbacks. The problem to me is their isn't much that intrigues me on either team, but a power arm for the pen would be awfully nice. I highly doubt Gonzo would be a part of a package, although I'm sure the Dbacks wouldn't mind moving his contract. They have two young catchers in Juan Brito and Koyie Hill. Could the Sox somehow get Dioner Navarro, whom so many people seem so high on? Or Paul Quantrill. You got to imagine cash is being sent along. For those saying Vazquez isn't an AL pitcher. Just remember his first half splits of 10-5, 3.57 ERA, but 19 homers allowed. No secret their, he gives up long balls. The question to me has to be his health or what bad habit he got into mechanically. This guy has been a horse a long time and the concerned part of me says he could be due for a serious injury.
  11. I agree, however LOTS of cash could even things out. For example if the Yanks sent like 15 mill over to the Sox. Or since the Dbacks are picking up Troy Glaus, it means one of Hilly or Chad Tracy is available.
  12. So reading between the lines the Sox would be dealing one of their starters in the Vazquez deal. Unless Wright is the plan B and Konerko would be a part of the deal.
  13. Really, when was this mentioned? Is this something that happened in the past 24 hours?
  14. Thats pretty cool. Maybe I'll put a resume in saying I'm looking for a general manager position, LOL. Ahh, I'm too lazy, meetings are only like 15 minutes from my house too, lol. But if KW addresses some needs, maybe I'll drop a cigar by the hotel.
  15. What I think is the Sox make a push at a middle infielder. Judging from Ozzie's comments, he's not comfortable having both Juan and Willie playing everyday. This means they are probably serious about Renteria. I'm guessing plan B is Renteria and Wright or another pitcher. The rest of plan b is sit around, wait for non-tenders, field trade offers for one of the bats, and pick up a non tendered outfielder as well as a non tendered reliever or something along those lines. If they go with that plan they wouldn't have to trade any of the bats either. I expect the Sox to make some noise in the next 7-10 days though.
  16. Wasn't the whole Blair Witch thing fake?
  17. Happy Bday....hopefully you pitch better then I think you will.
  18. Don't have the time to listen to it? Did he mention anything about the bullpen and/or the rotation? The part on Willie would make me think that Eric Young would be a perfect fit. I know Cheat has long talked about him in the platoon mold. Reading between the lines in RF, sounds to me like Kenny plans on making a move their. Personally I think position wise RF is the first move that should be made. I can live with Willie/Juan and a vet backup but I can't live with Borchard/Escobar or Everett.
  19. I've always wondered what went on at these things.
  20. You guys are crazy if you want or think Everett or Escobar is capable of being a starting RF in this league. I might as well say Joe Borchard should be the starter cause at least he'll enterain us fans every once in a while with a 500 FT homerun, in between his record strike out numbers. If the Sox start next season with that hole in right field and with the pen looking the way it is this year, its going to be a really really long season. The most important needs are a SP, RP, OF and then a leadoff or two hole hitter with Rowand or Willie filling in the other spot at the top of the lineup. This offense has long proven its capable of putting up runs, so because of that leadoff spot isn't near as much of a concern for me as it is for others. This lineup did it last season with Harris/Uribe most of the way and if they are doing it again so be it, cause the bats in the middle can come through.
  21. I'll live, but I still think his addition would of been a big lift. Oh well though, their are plenty of other options out there.
  22. Imo, the Bulls have a bigger need in the low post. The guard/small forward situation is going to be just fine.
  23. Wow, Iowa-LSU should be a pretty good bowl game. I like the matchup, should be a good game.
  24. Doesn't Carlos still have another year left on his contract?
