I'm so freaking stoked for this game. Im ready to turn into a bum for a couple days -
Pretty sure Big Lebowski, but its been a while since I saw it.

That was one of the best episodes ever. Then the gay guy uses the word queer and Homer is like, hey, thats our word for you people and gets all upset, lol. God, the classic simpsons episodes were so great. Too bad the glory years are over.

No, the Mexican was that movie with Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts (I think that was it at least???). He was in it, thats just wasn't the one I was thinking of. I thought the Mexican was alright. THe Big Lebowski was the movie I was thinking of. The name just came to me when I was typing it. Or at least I thought that was James Gandolfini.

OMG, that blog is sheer comedy. Your angry rants are hillarious.

Spiffy, your blog owned. Way better then the filth I wrote back in my older blog.

Wasn't Gandolfini the hitmen in that one movie. I forget the name at the moment, but he was like a gay hitmen or something. It was a good movie.

I liked Beck's thread title and I just wrote an entry originally talking about RJ and then veering off into a tangent comparing the 1996/1997 offseason to this upcoming one. his weekend the Daily Southown reported that White Sox General Manager plans on contacting the Arizona Diamondbacks about the possibility of a deal that would send the Dbacks ace, Randy Johnson, to the South Side of Chicago. At this point this rumor has to be taken as pure speculation, although it was widely reported that the White Sox were very interested in him at the trade deadline. At the time of the deadline reports were that the Sox package would have to start at Aaron Rowand, Jon Garland, and a prospect. With one year and 16.5 million remaining on his contract, it is evident in my mind that a package along those lines would be damaging to the White Sox. There is no doubt that Randy Johnson at the top of the rotation would make their pitching staff vastly superior to anyone else in the division, but at the same time, they would be creating numerous long term holes for a one year solution. If the Sox are able and capable of adding payroll, they could target one of the A’s big three as it appears that one of Hudson, Zito, and Mulder will be on the block. The most likely to be dealt is Barry Zito, who had a down year in Oakland but has proven himself as an ace. A package to acquire Zito should also be less costly (in terms of everyday players and quality of prospects) and is also a better long term solution. The Southtown article also went on to speculate that if the price was too steep for Johnson or if he wasn’t willing to accept a trade to the South Side, that Williams would target another ace, possibly via free agency. However, like I’ve made mention on multiple occasions, at this point, while the FA market for starting pitching is strong, there are no sure-fire aces on the market. However, there are a few players with the potential to turn into aces and one aging ace (Pedro Martinez). Could this off-season have a similar fate to the 1997 off-season. An off-season in which the White Sox thought long and hard about Roger Clemens, the Red Sox ace, but in the end felt he was past his prime, as did numerous other teams, when Clemens eventually landed in Toronto. Instead the Sox opted to get a “developing” ace in Jamie Navarro and offered him what was then the fattest contract ever offered to a pitcher (in White Sox history). We all know what happened from their. Navarro literally got fat from his contract and reported to camp out of shape. Unlike one of his predecessors, Bartolo Colon, Navarro proved he was unable to pitch at that weight and turned into one of the biggest busts in the modern era of the White Sox. It ranks right their with the Todd Ritchie deal in my mind. The only bright side in Jamie Navarro was the eventual trade out of Chicago, when he and RHP John Snyder were sent to Milwaukee for Jose Valentin and Carl Eldred. Those two pieces, along with a young nucleus of hitters, and James Baldwin, helped catapult the White Sox to the 2000 division title. Could Pedro be the next Boston ace that appears to be on the downside of his career, but instead, an ace on the brink of re-inventing himself someplace else? Who knows, but is it a risk worth taking, considering the “Bosses” need for a few more able starters in New York?

I dunno...5/10 limit would lead to some pretty big pots per hand. Thats too rich for my blood, lol.

I think it was pretty much announced that one of the half price nights would be going away, but not both, if I recall. I thought Boyer said that during a radio interview late last year.

I'd do this deal if the Dbacks wanted major league helped, namely Konerko and Lee. Then the Sox would have to get serious in their talks about Beltran and have him as one of the key bats in the middle. However, I think the most likely possibility would be Lee/Garland and a prospect or Konerko/Garland and a prospect. Sox then take on roughly half of RJ's costs and the Dbacks get some guys that they can market and use now and that should help them in the future. One thing I want to say is the Dbacks have absolutely ZERO interest in Joe Crede. Chady Tracey (Or Tracy) is a very good prospect, one that I'd rate higher then Joe Crede. He did good last year and is also solid defensively, so don't think that they would move him to 1B. If the Sox dealt Konerko and Lee, the reason I wouldn't mind it is because you can find guys like that. However, I think the Dbacks want to also dump payroll, which is why I think only one or the other would go. Sure they'd love Arow/Garland/Bmac or Anderson or Sweeney, but if thats what it would take i'd probably tell the Dbacks to scrwe off. Of course their is the part of me that thinks..maybe Arow is a one year wonder and he won't ever produce like he did this year...maybe Garland never lives up to his hype and then its like your giving up a prospect and two maybes for RJ. If some dream way the Sox had RJ and Beltran and didn't give up Arow or Garland, I'd be hella happy.

Well right now I don't see the Sox with any pieces ready to grow into the set up spot. In another year, possibly Cotts.

Hey Ross, if they were dealing Contreras, you mentioned he'd be a good salary dump, then he wouldn't be part of the rotation. They'd probably opt to go with a youngster or wait on the market and find a cheap 5th. However, I think any deal with the Dbacks involving the unit involves Carlos Lee and at least one of the Sox top prospects, plus a good prospect. I don't want to give up Brandon McCarthy, but you can bet thats who the Dbacks would want. I'd think they would want him over Sweeney/Anderson but thats just me. If its Lee, one of Diaz and all them, then I could see the deal making sense. Or of course if they were willing to accept Lee, Contreras, and a prospect, but I don't see that happening. A package of Garland and Lee could be something the Dbacks would look at heavily.

Haha, I picked up 20 last night. Would of won 40, but my damn buddy got freaking lucky on the river.

Good stuff. I think Baj will get things back together in the AFL. Also nice to hear he's working on yet another pitch to add to his arsenal. Go get em BAJ

Lib, but thats what I always score on these shorter tests. Problem is I took a look at Bacinek or whatever his name's site and my god I couldn't stand farther away from his policies.

Seems like a fair deal. Verlander is a talented pitcher, but considering he's a college guy their was no harm in him sitting out the year after a full season of college ball.

Which Player Will Be Talked About The Most

Its quite obvious he isn't a 9 mill a year pitcher. At 4.5 mill, I Think its something worth considering. -

Maybe I'm wrong in thinking this, but doesn't Philly rank up their as a hitters park, so I don't think his numbers would be that much greater, other then the adjustment to moving from the NL to the AL. But he already has every year but one in the AL, so you can pretty much see what he's gonna do. He should be better now, after undergoing one season and should be 100% at the time of spring training.
