Renteria??? Personally I'd rather see Cabrera. While Renteria is better offensively, I don't think he's a major upgrade (althoguh Cabrera is having a down year). However both are good defensively, Cabrera is a bit better, but most importantly if the BoSox let him walk (dont' ask me if they will) then I think he would be a good pickup, but I'd most like to see the Sox spend money on pitching. Its also obvious they need top of the order guys and I don't think Renteria is a 2 hitter, but I guess you could do it. Its just to me, he's gonna get 8 mill and his production doesn't warrant that. He can't be as good as he was in St. Louis, when he loses all that protection. He's good, but I don't know about 8 mill good.

I should add, Soriano isn't having his greatest yaer, but he's still .278/24/81. By the way he made 7.4 million this year.

Because Soriano's prodcution will be greater then Maggs production. He's also younger and plays a position that is damn near impossible to duplicate the production Alfonso can put up. He'll also be doing it for less than Maggs could. Essentially you even have the option of moving Willie into the OF, but I'm sure it means one of PK and Lee would be moved somewhere else. However, this move should still give them the money to add two more pitchers. Elo as the 5th (I know most won't like that) and a good pitcher in as well. However, you gotta know that someone else would be going to Texas and I'm assuming this is not a deal that would be made now, but in the offseason. I doubt Soriano passed through waivers.

Well basically his fastball went from 88-92 to 80. He said his arm was hurting and the Sox ended up basically thinking of it as a dead arm. They didn't see any damage on any tests or anything and he sat out a bit and tried to come back but has had absolutely no velocity. I don't got a problem with him going back to his old mechanics. I don't know if a minor change will add 8 MPH or not, but hopefully a hard working offseason on strengthening his arm and somehow restoring his confident (I'm sure this year is tough mentally).

Reed was hitting I think .273 down with Tacoma so its not like he's been lighting things up. I'm starting to think the Sox may of been wise dealing him. However, I still like the fact that he does all the little things. I think all Sox fans appreciate those type of players considering the Sox have so few of them at the major league level.
